One of the best places we have ever stayed. We did two tours through the hotel and both were great. ( Elephant Safari & Village Tour) room was amazing- you even get a personal butler! Food was perfect. I am gluten free and they were great. Even made us a gf chocolate cake for our honeymoon! We will be back!

Nothing, everything is perfect.

Excellent breakfast, with a large choice. Location is perfect, on a lake with a crocodile...Heidi. Very nice restaurant, lovely barbecue. Buildings made by an excellent architect and on top of that, ecological. They offer their own vegetables and fruits. Butler service: we very much liked our butler, thank you very much Ruwan!

The hotel doesn’t offer a TukTuk service for any of the close-by excursions in order to have an even more authentic Sri Lankan experience. But the hired cars with driver are absolutely comfortable.

Great and very friendly staff in all departments of the hotel. The hotel’s very own naturalists are brilliant and are assisting with everything you need for a successful trip or excursion - water, juices, soft drinks and cool refreshing towels are always part of the service. We enjoyed the big pool for all hotel guests as well as our private pool next to the room which helped us to feel really relaxed. The hotel is a true sanctuary and we enjoyed the nature and natural sounds every second of our stay. A minimum 3 nights stay is highly recommended to have enough time to discover the historic places and the nature in this part of Sri Lanka as well as to relax on property (we stayed 4 nights).

Just a few minor points to note from a room selection point of view. The garden rooms have open slats in the shower are, which are lovely for ventilation , but also allow mosquitoes in. Keeping the door between the bedroom and bathroom closed, enabled us to keep the mosquitoes away from the sleeping area. Also, a note, all the rooms except for the garden rooms have multiple internal steps. Just something to keep in mind, if you have small children or the infirm in your party.

We travelled as a group of 4, including a toddler, to the Sigiriya area, and stayed at Vil Uyana for 3 nights. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience, and would be delighted to return. It's a proper eco hotel, the service is EXCEPTIONAL(you get a butler), and it feels like you are contributing to the local economy (they have 130+ employees, seem to train people up for work in hospitality, and have an engineering department where they actually build the buggies that cart visitors around) whilst having a wonderful time. The restaurant was fantastic, and catered well for a coeliac dietary requirement. The food was just wonderful.

Only small inconvenience was having no door to the bathroom area.

My sister and I loved everything about this property - the beauty of the natural setting, the food, the staff, the Marsh Dwelling we stayed in, the location with easy access to Sigiriya Rock as well as Minneriya National Park... Special thanks to our butler Nissanka who was so professional, kind and accommodating. We took the evening lemur "safari" and it was amazing to hear the naturalist describe the conservation work being undertaken on the property (we also got to watch a loris, and saw a stick insect and some flying foxes). It all seems like a dream now! Especially the Grey langurs cavorting around our dwelling...

A bit of noise from a loud lawn mower, this was stopped soon after we called reception.

We liked the interaction with staff. They were attentive to all our needs and went beyond the call of duty. We sincerely appreciated this. Breakfast was very good - dinner was a bit salty on first night but was rectified the next day.

i came here for vacation to run out of my alarm I want to wake up any time I want to do things without schedule so this is the only thing i don’t like when they asked me “what time you will come tomorrow for the breakfast?! and what time you will come for the dinner!” the private pool water is little bit cold

My second stay there and it was perfect, despite the challenging conditions in the country (travelled June 2022). Staff couldn’t have been more helpful, everyone went above and beyond to ensure tourists still had a great time. Location also excellent, being very close to Sigiriya and Dambulla and within easy reach of Anuradhapura and Pollonaruwa, as well as reasonably close to Kandy and Wilpattu. Don’t miss local excursions as well with the loris walk and night drive, as well as birdwatching, all either at the hotel or around.

We arrived to a truly unique and serene experience of sitting in the floating library and enjoying herbal tea as a tropical downpour immersed us in the surrounding lakes and water gardens. The hotel and grounds are simply stunning, with beautiful views and wildlife in every direction. The staff made our stay extremely comfortable with their kindness, generosity and care. This is a place to go for reflection, relaxation and a drop of adventure!

E-mail communication before arrival was slow and confusing at times, but on-site service was excellent.

Fantastic and very unique setting — loved the nature hikes. The conservation values of the property really shine through. Excellent food and attentive, friendly staff. Very good and inexpensive spa.

Needs better coffee, cappucinos and espresso.

The property is magical, its like staying at a wildlife reserve. We saw monkeys, iguanas, a crocodile, peacocks and a number of other animals. The forest dwelling we stayed in was beautiful. Amazing tub, beautiful open air bathroom and a fabulous pool area. The staff was exceptional and food and drinks were all top notch. We just wish we could have stayed longer. We stayed as a couple with our two children.

It was not worth 747.00 dollars for me be night . This room was worth no more than 50.00 dollars. Service was horrible. Booking.com should come out for themself to see their 50 dollar hotel room. I will never book hotel again with booking. They have no idea what they are selling customers for 700 plus . . Worst location, bad service and food was not good at all . Upon arrival it was raining . They took long time to come get us. I mean 700 plus a room per night . Service should awesome. The indoor pool was plugged . I called someone to come fix it and it was was still draining slow. He then left all the dirt in it. I don’t recommend this place to my worst enemy. Anyone have question email me. I’m willing to answer any questions regarding this property.
