    Cannot mention anything

My wife and I spent part of our honeymoon in this hotel. It was the best experience of our trip. When you are looking for a place to relax and forget about your everyday, this is the place to be. The rooms are big and have everything you need and even more. The service is just great and everyone is so attentive. The Manager Umberto and his team are taking great care of their guests. The pool and area is exactly like in the pictures and the food is just amazing. It’s all sustainable, local and so tasty. We will come back for sure. The Chefs of the hotel do an amazing job. When the GM Umberto starts cooking, the pasta exceeds every expectation. We especially liked: the peace and quiet, the proximity to the beach, the swimming pool, the service, the food, the attention to detail.

It was by far the best hotel on our trip! Every wish will be fulfilled. The hotel is very quiet, so we had a good rest. With attention to detail, the hotel is perfect for relaxing. Also a big thank you to the General Manager Umberto and the service team!

The tend sometimes got really hot even though they were air conditioned. Some meals were good some only ok. Too pricey for „ok“

Really nice resort to come down and enjoy the time. Beautiful tends and really good butler service.

The only thing was the road in wasn’t sealed and no signs for the resort and we wondered if we were going the right way. Of course, beautifully surprised when we arrived.

The property is finished to a lovely standard. The villas (safari tents) were very big with a beautiful bathroom, outdoor shower etc. The staff were attentive and so lovely. Food was great. This is a great place to unwind and relax.

The food! Unfortunately it was really sub-par, so much so that even my husband, who will pretty much eat anything without comment, noticed! Breakfast was particularly bad. Despite there being only two tables occupied we got the wrong order, no juice and my tea was served in a cup with someone else’s lipstick on it! The waitress seemed a bit non-plussed when I asked for it to be changed and just wiped it off with her finger! There was a definite difference in service in the evening, which was much better, but the food was absolutely dreadful. It’s such a shame as it is such a beautiful place, but it was definitely let down by the chef. One thing they could do is offer a free film in the evening at the outdoor cinema, as there is no entertainment at all in the evening and no TVs in the rooms, but they were charging $30 to watch 20 year old Guy Ritchie films, so unsurprisingly there were no takers.

Gorgeous property giving off Maldives vibes. The rooms were tented with outdoor waterfall showers and beautifully furnished. There was plenty of privacy from your neighbours and ample beach loungers dotted around. The pool was saltwater and very gentle on the skin and although there were only a limited number of Sun loungers around it, we were always able to find a space. The lounge area was particularly cool and a lovely place to have a drink in the evening.

AMAZING hotel, 10/10 would recommend and stay again, perfect days of relaxation

The AC in our room didn't quite reach the bathroom, so the bathroom was pretty warm. The showers in the rooms are only outdoor, and there was not great lighting. The massage huts had no air conditioning, so on a hot afternoon it can get a bit warm These were just a few small things that could be improved, none of them were enough to knock this down from a 10/10 rating for me.

Just about everything was incredible. The resort is beautiful, and one of the few places that looks even better in real life than in pictures! The pool is wonderful, and the beach is insanely beautiful, perfect golden sand, warm, blue water, zero signs of trash/pollution that plague other beaches in Asia. The suites are beautifully constructed and there is so much privacy, as the hotel has only <20 suites and each has a private garden/ space. I was seriously blown away by how beautiful, peaceful, and serene the whole place is There is only one restaurant, but the food is superb, we ate here every single day - prices are very very reasonable for this type of resort as well. The resort is pretty secluded, so going in to town would take some effort, but we (and I think all the other guests) enjoyed the property and the beach right in front that we had zero reason to leave until we checked out! 10/10 would recommend this to anyone, and 10/10 would stay here again.

Some of the airco units might need some extra attention. The signing to the hotel can be a bit better.

"Karpaha Sands exceeded all our expectations! The stunning location coupled with the luxurious hotel left us speechless. The impeccable service, especially from the general manager, Umberto, who went above and beyond to ensure our stay was unforgettable. Special thanks to Nifras, our private butler, for orchestrating a magical private cinema evening on the beach – it was truly a highlight of our trip. The attention to detail is evident everywhere, from the fresh and high-quality products in the restaurant to the delicious breakfast spread. We loved the self-made soaps provided for the shower and bath – such a thoughtful touch. And let's not forget the excellent service around the pool, which made lounging in paradise even more delightful. While the road to Karpaha Sands might be a bit challenging, it's undoubtedly worth the journey for the unparalleled experience awaiting you. We can't wait to return to this hidden gem!"

Despite of being a "high priced" hotel, Karpaha Sands surprised us with a very personal touch. All staff were exceptionally friendly. The location is stunning and secluded. One of the best places we have seen for relaxation and winding down. In sum we felt this was a very good value for money ratio. We will try to come back. Highlight for our kid was the movie night on the beach as well as many other little details.

The AC in our room made a lot of noise. The mattresses on the sun beds by the pool could need a clean. All in all we loved it here!

People on Booking have a tendency to look for negative reviews and then be turned off by them. Don't. This is hands down one of the best places to stay in Sri Lanka.

It's an absolute paradise. It's quiet, secluded and romantic. The food is great and our butler Ash was fantastic. The general manager is most gracious host and cares an incredible amount about your stay.

We had a delightful stay at Karpaha sands. Special thanks to Umberto and Banda for a great stay. We really enjoyed the food and drinks. I recommended Priyanka highly if you are looking to get an Ayurvedic massage. We travelled with our two small kids and the staff and property were very accommodating. This is the perfect get away if you are looking to relax and unwind in Sri Lanka.

The road from the main road to the resort needs to be improved but that is no fault of the resort. There could be better signage on the main road to help find the resort easier.

The last few km to/from the resort are on an unpaved dirt road that is in a very rough shape. Both times, our drivers had a difficult time finding the resort and also maneuvering past all the potholes.

We spend 2 nights at Karpaha Sands. 1 night in a garden suite, one night in a beach front suite. Both roomtypes had their specific features that made them stand out. The garden suites are way more spacious and private, whereas the beach front ones had that amazing view on the palmtrees and sea. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and wished we could have stayed longer. The vibe in the resort is so nice and relaxed. The tents are decorated beautifully and super comfortable. The outdoor shower was one of our favorite features. Staff was all super friendly. Shout out to Mr Banda, who took great care of us. The on-site manager did a great job, too, constantly roaming around and checking with guests if everything is ok and actively asking for feedback. The pool is nice, modern, and quite large. From time to time, staff passed out complementary water/ice tea. A very nice touch. We rarely visit the same country twice, but should we ever come back to Sri Lanka, we will definitely be staying again at Karpaha.

If I would have to name any it would be that its not really close to anything and the road to the hotel is an adventure it self. But that’s also the reason why it so nice and quite.

Great room/tent with lots of space very well though out. Does become warmer then a normal hotel room during the day and takes a little longer for the airco to get everything back to a cool temperature. But your suppose to be at the beach during the hot times. Great service the whole day. Good breakfast especially the Srilankaan breakfast and also the Diner had some nice options.

Ideal beach for swimming although the hotel staff are very cautious and there is a red flag up which is off putting to start with, warm water and relatively shallow. You should be aware the hotel is down a long bumpy sand track about 3.5 km from the main road so it makes exploring locally difficult and less spontaneous, so you need to order a tuktuk from the village or bike (see below) and it makes it very difficult to eat anywhere other than the hotel in the evening. Hotel food in the evening is fine but relatively expensive for the standard. The hotel does have a couple of bikes, which were not in good order and need renewing. Management are aware of this though.

This is a beautiful stretch of unspoilt beach - as far as the eye can see. Sun beds are scattered around with masses of space, so you can really enjoy peace and quiet. The staff are very friendly and trying hard to get things right under a relatively new manager, but service is a bit variable. Breakfast was very good. Tents are very spacious and private. The local fisherman work along the whole bay which we loved watching and you can walk for miles undisturbed. Lots of sea eagles

It’s barely a dislike, but it was a little hard to reach the property due to potholes. It just meant we arrived ever so slightly stressed; but that soon got fixed!!

Would stay here over and over again. Pure luxury; a beautiful tented room, gorgeous pool. It’s such a quiet place where we really felt like the only ones on the beach. I’ve not really experienced such a quiet location before. We also appreciated they decorated the bed for our honeymoon. Bearing in mind we stayed in 8 places during our honeymoon, this was the only place that marked it in any way. It’s a small thing but I really appreciated the thoughtfulness.
