From arrival which started with a welcome drink, ever member of the team greeted us with a smile and exceptional service. The home cooking particularly the jackfruit curry was delicious. Rooms spotless with good air conditioning. The safari they organised was superb.

If I had to mention something negative, it would be that while the accommodation is located right at the entrance of the national park, it is far from the nearest town. So, you can't just pop to the supermarket or similar places. However, everything is manageable with a tuktuk.

The owner was extremely kind and always helpful, fulfilling all our requests. The entire staff was very friendly, the rooms were clean, and the breakfast was delicious. The dinner was also good. We booked a safari through the accommodation and had a superb driver who spotted many animals that we wouldn't have seen so quickly on our own. Overall, everyone put in a lot of effort.

A minor point but it would be great if the seating in the common area on the terrace was a bit more comfortable.

Fantastic location just a few minutes from the park entrance. A very warm welcome from all the family and Kuma helpfully arranged an afternoon visit to the Elephant Transit Centre for us. The safari the next day, organised by Kuma, was brilliant. Our driver was very knowledgeable and pointed out no end of flora and fauna that we would otherwise have missed. Breakfast in the park was excellent. Meals cooked by Kuma’s mother at the guesthouse were simple but tasty.

If you’re heading to Udawalawa, i highly recommend a stay at the Kuma Safari lodge. The rooms were clean, perfectly decorated with comfy beds & the food, delicious…the curry cooked by Kuma’s mum rated as one of the best during my whole travels as was her safari breakfast! Kuma went out of his way to ensure my stay was perfect with a visit to the baby elephant orphanage the evening before our safari. The lodge is perfectly located, 5 mins from the park which meant we were the first jeep in at sunrise. On the safari, Kuma shared his intensive knowledge of the animals & birds, was also respectful when locating & viewing them. Seeing the elephants in their nature habitat was awesome, a morning i will never forget ! The family made me feel so welcome, it was a real treat to share their jungle lodge. I will definitely be back 😊

We felt that we overpaid slightly for the Safari which we booked through the property - note that you can buy your entry to the park yourself using card for a cheaper price… That said, it was all arranged for us, so no hassle!

The room was spacious and clean, we received a very warm welcome on check in and the staff were very attentive and easy to reach at all times via WhatsApp. The property arranged a fantastic safari for us in the afternoon (12-6) so that we could avoid most of the morning safari traffic which resulted in some really amazing private encounters with the elephants!

We choose this property because of its location to the national park and the great safari reviews from here. The room was spacious with good air con, large bathroom, tea and coffee making facilities. They arranged our safari trip with our guide Nuwan, who was very passionate about the park and the animals, very knowledgeable about the flora and fauna and respectful of the animals and the environment. We were lucky that he spotted a leopard for us to see on our trip which was the icing on the cake. Thankyou Good luck with your restaurant for next season.

Apparently the current owners are new to the property so I am guessing there will be improvements. The clients mentioned little things like no chairs in the large rooms, no tables beside the bed, no shower head and the place looks a bit sad. Nothing that a coat of paint and some thoughtful additions wouldn't solve. A swimming pool, if planned, would be awesome.

I booked five rooms for my clients, I did not stay myself. But they were happy enough with the place. It's very close to the park entrance and they organised safari with a good, knowledgeable guide. It's in a pleasant, quiet location and the hosts are friendly and helpful and communicate well. It's good value.

Kuma Safari Lodge is position 1/2 km from the entrance to Udawalawa National Park, so no waiting time when going to the safari. Friendly and welcoming approach, with focus on providing the guests with a superb safari experience. We had dinner at the place, a genuine authentic Sri Lankan food experience, served for all guests at one time. This provided a good opportunity to meet fellow travelers, which is a great experience. We had booked a 1/2 safari with Kuma as well, for this be provided a reliable safari-jeep with a driver who cunningly spotted animals in the national park. The driver spoke fine English and was knowledgeable about the animals and birds we found. A truly great experience. Breakfast was served in the National Park as part of the safari, really amazing

Amazing value for money. Clean room with Moskito net and AC. We got a welcome drink right after we arrived and ordered dinner for the evening, which was really good too and there was plenty of food. Kuma organized a safari for us the next day. It was absolutely amazing! We had the longer tour and breakfast was set up at a nice little campground like place in the jungle. Kuma also organized a driver for us to take us to the next destination. That driver was the best we had so far.

Perfect location for Udawalawe safari. Room is spacious and exceptionally clean. Kuma and his mother are very attentive and do their best to help in whatever way they can. We booked safari through Kuma and had exceptional service with a knowledgeable guide. Kuma’s mum also made us dinner which was arguably the best meal we had on our 1 month stint in Sri Lanka - can’t recommend enough especially if you’re in the area for the safari.
