Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

DenmarkAfter 2.5 hours of driving by car, we were dropped off on a country road, where a tuk-tuk was waiting for us. We left our luggage in the car and took the essentials in our backpacks. The tuk-tuk bumbled off towards the rainforest and after a few kilometers we were dropped off. Then it was on foot for the next 800 metres! The view was beautiful along the way in the lush rainforest with small rivers and ferns as big as cars. Then we reached a clearing in the forest and the view of the place where we were to live opened up. The most beautiful wooden villa in a stylishly delicious design, where a waterfall flows under and into a natural pool and where you are left breathless by such beautiful nature that you are surrounded by. When we got inside we were not disappointed. The decor, materials and design are so delicious and exclusive. We were welcomed with a cinnamon drink and passion fruit with sugar and salt (try it - it's really delicious!). The two men who accompanied us to the house were both cooks and waiters. They didn't know much English, but they were incredibly helpful and service minded. After we had gotten a bit settled in the villa - and had taken 1000 photos of the view - we saw on our phones that there was ZERO coverage. And no WiFi either! So it was off with our UNO playing cards and the books about the rainforest, which were lying out front. Calm fell upon us and we quickly got used to just being and standing and enjoying nature. We were totally "disconnected" from the world, but became "connected" with nature. After a delicious barbecue dinner, the two men came up to us and gave us a walkie-talkie. "You just call in case of emergency - we are 200 meters away". And then we were all alone in nowhere. Absolutely amazing and also a little scary.

United KingdomThis is not accommodation for anyone with mobility challenges. Unless a powerful 4 wheel drive vehicle is made available the only way to cover the kilometer from paved road to villa is on foot...and it is not a stroll in the park! Leeches, as in any rain forest can be a bind. Just ensure you cover lower legs with good shoes/boots and socks. There is absolutely no internet connection. Maybe not a bad thing!
OK, so this was certainly the most expensive accommodation of our trip but wow! The Kurunduketiya Private Rainforest Luxury Resort is a place like no other: embedded in the rainforest and a tough trek away from the nearest paved road the building is simply extraordinary. Raised on stilts with two huge bedrooms at either side enclosed on three sides by glass walls with an 'open air' living area in the middle this has got to be one of the most unusual holiday locations ever. Our group of four was looked after by the two wonderful managers who not only cooked and served the most delicious food morning and evening but heaved our heavy baggage from car to villa over challenging terrain, gave us insights into the amazing environment and its wild residents and even took us on a rain forest hike. The aquarium-like bedrooms (only you are inside looking out) are amazing. Uninterrupted views of the forest on three sides with the best shower ever - no curtains, no shutters just another huge window looking out on to forest and a tumbling stream! Below the building is a natural 'swimming pool' fed by spring water.

Germanythe road to get there is a nightmare!! don’t go there without 4x4 vehicle or transport as regular cars might remain stuck given the rocky road conditions until it gets fixed. check with the owner for current road conditions before.

GermanyWe didn't know that there was neither wifi nor connection. Also were not made aware that we will only have access to food that was preorderd. Kindly the host cooked something on request, but for this price compared to other hostings I'd expect a welcome drink, fresh fruits or juice available for snacks. Also some items on the facility were not completely intact such as the window in one bathroom.
The facility is stunning. Communication around Organisation was easy and pleasent. The staff on the location was very helpful and friendly. Food ordered for dinner and breakfast was pleny and good.

United StatesThe problem is how this space is managed. Jayomi, the manager, assured me beforehand that the kitchen was well-outfitted and that I could bring what I needed to prepare food. I reach the property to find an unclean kitchen, non-stick pans with coating completely scraped off (which is a serious, grave cancerous health hazard whether you cook your food or the staff does) . Few of the amenities communicated would be on the property. Furthermore when I mentioned this to jayomi, she apologized and offered to refund me for the overpriced food we orders and then never responded. Shameful. Lastly, Chandana, the property manager who is indeed lovely, was constantly present. Because the property has no door he shows up every two hours breaking the peace and once even sitting outside my bedroom loudly talking on the phone at 7 am so that I had to go out and tell him to be quiet.
It is indeed a beautiful space, serene and secluded and deep in the rainforest.
