We liked everything! The welcome drink, the view from our balcony, the kindness of the staff, the breakfast. The beach is magical and the room clean. Before coming, we were a bit afraid of the heat during the night as there is no AC but the fan was enough and we slept really well. We personally liked the noise of the waves crashing on the beach, it was relaxing. As mentioned, the staff is great, super kind and helpful. They helped us renting a scooter and provided the correct express bus schedule for our next destination. We stayed 4 nights and I wish we could stay longer

The location couldn't be better; it offers access to a nearly "private" beach complete with comfortable long chairs for ultimate relaxation and sunbathing. The bed is exceptionally cozy, complemented by a mosquito net, and the bathroom provides a delightful bathing experience. Falling asleep to the soothing sound of waves crashing nearby is incredibly tranquil. In the mornings, the opportunity to witness the sunrise while spotting turtles swimming along the shoreline adds a magical touch to the experience. The breakfast spread is delightful, featuring a variety of fresh fruits, eggs, bread, and sweet potato with coconut. The staff's warmth and hospitality were evident when we arrived; they always assisted us, even greeting us with a refreshing king coconut drink. Conveniently located on the same road are numerous restaurants, just a 2-minute walk away, offering plenty of dining options for lunch and dinner. This place is a dream come true for surfing enthusiasts, with waves right in front of your room and additional surf spots just a 10-minute drive away.

We loved our stay at La Polena! The room was very nice and clean and the location was amazing, located right on a very quiet part of the beach it felt like a private beach. The staff were also extremely friendly and helpful I couldn’t recommend it enough!

Nowhere to hang clothes. The rail provided was far to high off the ground to be of any use and no hooks in the bathroom for towels. Also plain glass in bathroom window and door should be opaque

The location is outstanding. Just a few steps from your room and you are on the beach. Every room has a balcony or terrace with a sea view and there are enough restaurants in the area for every taste

I honestly couldn’t rate this place higher! I initially booked for 2 nights and ended up staying for 9. The family that run it are so friendly and helpful, always greeting you with a smile at every time of the day. Amazing Sri Lankan breakfast served right on the beach, changing every day, unbeatable view from the rooms (I stayed in the 1st floor and second floor rooms and both are amazing, second floor rooms better if you want shaded balcony). You can easily spend the whole day at La Polena without leaving but if you do need to there are a host of restaurants nearby, it’s a great area. It was lovely to see them every day constantly making small improvements to the place; it is made with love ! Thank you La Polena, I will be back :)

We loved everything about our stay! The views were incredible, the staff so lovely and helpful, the breakfast amazing. The location was perfect on a nice quiet street off the busy main road and a very cool vibe, lots of nice restaurants for dinner and good surf breaks not far.

Cleanliness of the room could be improved

Small, cozy hotel facing an amazing beach (which was almost empty in low season). There are some nice cafes and beach bars around. The staff is very kind, always with a smile! :)
