The prices offered for the safari were much higher compared to other offers received.

The tree house was amazingly clean and comfortable. The bathroom was very clean.

Absolutely nothing

What is it with homestays in Sri Lanka, or should I say the hosts. After our fabulous stay at one in Sigiriya then Ella, This again was fabulous. Wonderful setting, Brilliant hosts who couldn't do enough for us. Sorted our laundry, Cooked us a wonderful home made curry and then sorted us a driver to take us to Mirissa. This truly was a fantastic place to stay and can't recommend enough.

Fantastic location, straight onto the lakeside. Really felt like we were staying in the trees in Yala park at a fraction of the cost. Family/owners were fantastic with a great little lad who wanted to play football whenever he sore you.

Amazing property at a beautiful lake. Very nice getaway from the busier places in Sri Lanka. Nothing better then waking up to birds singing. The Staff is phenomenal and super friendly. Mosquitos are their... But it's a nature of the natural property you've to prepare for that before you come here.

Its rustic - power was out for a few hours, no glass on windows so a few mosquitos. So charming though

One of my favourite stays. Gorgeous little cabana. The location was a bit removed from the main town but only five - ten minute tuk tuk if needing to go in. The owners cooked me a lovely dinner and were so helpful with organising my safari.

I would say, that the food prices are very high for that place. But the food was delicious.

The stuff was very friendly and the view from the room was great. Completely in the Natur. It was very quiet. They helped me with the booking for the safari.

We had a wonderful time at this location. Our cabana located directly on the lake, so we could observe animals from our terace. Our hosts were so friendly, helpful in all things and during our stay we felt like a family. If we come to Sri Lanka in a next time we will definetly come back to Lake Side Cabana. It was still a bit warm over night with just the fan in March but definitely acceptable. I think being in air con would actually take away from the experience. The cabana is quite open and I liked it. Not many mosquitos but I still used my mosquito net and wore DEET to bed. There were some ants in the bathroom but I wasn't bothered. This is to be expected in a tropical area.

Amazing location by the lake. If you get the lakeside Cabana you can sit on the deck and look at the lake. I saw lots of birds and water buffalo swimming. If not right by the lake there are tables near the lake. There are crocodile in the water apparently but I learnt on my safari they aren't the big ones we have in Australia, just little ones that eat fish and very small animals. The host organises a safari for us and we had a guide (not sure if that was luck or arranged) but the guide made it much most enjoyable and we saw animals I wouldn't have otherwise spotted). Our driver (family friend, brother or cousin I believe) was very gentle when going over uneven ground.

Amazing and unique experience to sleep in Lakeside Cabana. Most beatifule sunrise in the live with singing birds. Owners very friendly and helpful runing this place stright from the harts. Breakfast wonderful ! Recommend it for 100% :)

Nothing - everything was amazing. Lovely place to stay and be at one with nature.

I cannot speak more highly of this property. From the minute we arrived we were greeted with beautiful smiles and fabulous hospitality from the amazing owner who was happy to help with any advice and queries The cabanas are set right on the lakeside and are extremely spacious with comfy beds and great fluffy pillows. There is also a mosquito net to keep mozzies at bay and a fan which we found perfectly adequate to keep us cool at night. The home made food was delicious and ‘Shelley’ the family dog was just adorable. I am scoring this property 10/10 but would score it higher if I could! If this place is available when you are looking for a place to stay in Tissa then you should book it before it gets booked by others - you won’t be disappointed. We initially booked for 1 night and decided to stay for 3 nights! Thank you again for a wonderful place to stay.

A few mosquitoes as its near a lake but just bring bug spray and you'll be fine!

This beautiful family homestay is in a stunning location by the lake! The family is so sweet, kind, warm, welcoming, and generous! They are also super helpful at booking trips, especially to Yala National Park! We had an incredible guide and saw everything the park has to offer from Leopards to elephants and even a sloth bear! Its a small family run operation, but they will try their utmost to accommodate and cater to your needs. The young son may even challenge you to a chess match! We loved our stay here

Amazing location right next to the lake where you can relax in hammocks and read. The owners are very friendly and welcoming and will cook you a fantastic dinner. The cabanas are spacious and beautiful.

Nothing, loved it all but its not a place for the faint hearted.

This is a special place if you love nature in its rawest form. Our cabin on stilts overlooked the lake and the garden is full of tropical fruit trees. There are no windows as such, just painted horizontal bamboo poles so you are really at one with nature. No point in staying here if you are afraid of bugs as they are plentiful although we did not get any mosquito bites. The sounds of the birdsong in the morning is simply magical and unforgettable. The family who own it are wonderful and they cooked us a gorgeous breakfast and dinner. It’s basically run by a wonderful young woman (with an adorable fun loving 8 year old son) her mother and her aunt. They can also arrange a safari for you. This is a unique and special place to stay for a night or two.

Wow, absolutely brilliant stay. The host family could not be more accommodating and helped us do laundry, organised our safaris to YALA and udawalawe, helped us organise a spa visit and massages and we even did a cooking class in the evening too with the host. Could not recommend staying here more.

Beautiful location and the host family were so friendly and hospitable. They arranged a trip for us to Bundala National Park and we ate dinner at the accommodation both nights we stayed. Delicious food! We would definitely recommend it - just make sure you have a good mosquito repellent!
