The host gave us great recommendations about the area and activities. We wanted to take the train from Kandy to Ella, but the host recommended us to get a scenic trip to Nuwara Eliya and then take the train to Ella from Nuwara Eliya. This was an excellent tip. The kitchen offered familiar European food at a good quality, which is nice if you want a change from local food (but they also serve good local food made by locals).

A wonderfully situated place in the jungle. You hear nothing but the birds in the morning and evening. The rooms are wonderful. The food is great. The outdoor area has suffered a bit in the Corona time, but this does not detract from the charm and comfort of the whole complex. The best thing, however, is Fabrice, the owner. Together with his wife, he is a wonderful host who takes fantastic care of his guests and their well-being with dedication. He is one of the best experiences of our holiday. We actually planned to organise ourselves from location to locations. This called Fabrice into action. He really liked it to completely organise the rest of our trip in two days, hotels, a wonderful driver and a few tourist highlights, including negotiated special prices and an airport transfer for our trailing son in the middle of the night. Unbeatable service. A travel agency couldn't have done it better. And everything was great and went smoothly. A very wonderful person in a very special place. Fabrice, we thank you so much.

We were, unfortunately staying at the hotel during the time of unrest in Sri Lanka, resulting in power cuts and food shortages, handled well by the hotel staff.

We were welcomed with open ar.s by the family who owned this hotel, but the food was amazing, like nothing we have experienced in Sri Lanka, A Sri lankan French fusion, good wine, kind people what more do we want.

Amazing hotel tucked away in the forest - you forget how close to city life you are! The rooms are spacious and although we didn’t have enough time there (we wish we could have stayed an extra night) the pool looked fab! Super friendly hosts and very talented chef :)

This is a beautiful place away from the chaos in Kandy. The food is very tasty if you want something different from traditional Sri Lankan dinners. Fabrice and our tuk tuk drivers that he recommend were lovey and very knowledgable!

Fabrice is a friendly and charming host who made us feel most welcome. We took advantage of suggestions he made with our travel plans and we are so pleased we followed them. The food was fantastic - I haven’t eaten food of this quality for years and finding it in Sri Lanka was a highlight of our trip. if you stay at this property ask Fabrice to organise Isuru as your tuktuk driver - he is a brilliant, informative, happy and friendly guide who will make you smile all day!

The owner and his family were very nice and welcoming. He always helped us with transportation and useful suggestions for our trip. Especially our 2,5 year old son enjoyed the big beautiful garden and the minigolf course. There are many animals and plants to see as the areal of the hotel is very big. Perfect for children as they can discover so much and are still safe. Also the food is very good! They help with any wish anytime. Perfect start to our trip around Sri Lanka.

The food was passable but overpriced. Breakfast was very limited. lunch was disappointing. With the location being so out of the way you are forced to eat at the resort. The owner was a bit temperemental in his interaction with us

The owner Fabrice wasn't the best host. His aggressive style of talking made us uncomfortable. expected much better managing with the ratings this place had.

Swimming pool area was not inviting with no sun loungers. Also one of our rooms were not cleaned and towels not changed for two days. We stayed three nights and on returning to hotel on the second evening at 9 pm as Fabrice was not around we found it extremely difficult to get a beer/wine before going to bed. This was resolved after about 20 minutes but felt not relaxed and had to finish our drinks quickly which meant going to bed earlier than we wanted as staff sat and watched us having our drinks.

Room was lovely with great shower. Very comfy beds. Addition crazy golf, darts and boules a nice added touch due to remote location. Breakfast very nice and Fabrice brillant at organising transport and extremely helpful. Nice touch you could pay in US Dollars.

the location is far away from the city. it's nice if you want to be secluded in the jungle. unfortunately our room had a moldy smell, we didn't say anything so we don't know what would have been the reaction.

the jungle around the place is beautiful and very relaxing and the staff was lovely. the manager even sat with us for a while and was very nice and welcoming.

but why did we leave earlier? first of all, a lot of people write in their review that this place is 15mins from the city center. if you really want to reach - let‘s say the lake - you should rather expect like 30mins. and this is only after waiting 15+mins for a driver, if there even is one that is willing to drive all the way up there (a lot of PickMe drivers cancelled on us when they saw our location). speaking of getting there, if you travel with a rented car on your own, expect some dark and un-paved streets. secondly, when we arrived absolutely nobody was there to welcome us. after a few minutes we found the entrance on our own, where we met a staff member who couldn’t speak any english but guided us to the reception area where nobody was ever seen (during the entirety of our stay). we were then welcomed by the french owner and shown our rooms. they were not what we would expect from a 4 star hotel. there is no safe, no phone, no fridge, no tv and really bad wifi connection in the rooms. the worst thing though about the rooms was the shockingly never before mentioned strong smell of mould. we only had breakfast at the restaurant (which was average at best) given that the menu only consisted of a lot of meat or fish dishes and sadly there were not many options for vegetarians. as mentioned before nobody was stationed at the reception desk and we couldn‘t even find any staff members all around the property in the afternoon. as you don‘t even have a phone in your room you also cannot call the staff. so we couldn‘t order any drinks or ask for the mini golf putters that were mentioned by the owner upon our arrival. all in all we just cannot understand all those positive reviews. the energy just felt off and for that price you can get so many better experiences in this wonderful country. to finish our review we want to mention the really unprofessional responses the owner gives to negative feedback by personally attacking his former guests.

the hotel is situated in a very nice tropical jungle. another positive: We wanted to leave earlier, the owner was helpful and refunded parts of our original booking.

Lack of flexibility. It is impossible to have breakfast/sandwich/fruit when you want to leave early (in our case 6:30 in the morning) because the breakfast is served from 8 a.m.

We arrived to the property - and the door was locked, the lights switched off in reception and when the guy at reception opened the door, we thought we had gone wrong, he didnt seem to expect us. Just a note to the owner - a more warm welcome would have been nice :) The property is very far from Kandy, and because it takes at least 15 mins by tuk tuk to get to the city, you often end of eating your meals at the hotel. The food was average - and expensive, so although the stay was cheap, it ended up costing us more than for some of the other properties. We booked this hotel with high expectations due to high ratings - and the property failed because of that. Had it had lower ratings, maybe we wouldnt have expected so much, because the room is nice, standard and average, but fine - but because of the high ratings, we were disappointed. Lovely and nice staff, also the host.

They charged us for a broken ashtray about 6€. And the normal is even not 50 cent because we asked local ppl. So be careful if something will break. The food portion are for kids and to expansive 18€ for 80g tuna and 7 chips and outside u pay 5€ for big meal and tuna. There was no fridge, no safe, no tv and no phone. That’s not a 4 star standard as we know. On booking was a option for half Pension and the owner told us at the hotel there is no option for that but an employee said before they have Menu for half pension. For us was the energy not good there.
