Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomAmazing hospitality, breakfast and safari. Living amongst the wildlife felt so peaceful that any stresses of life melted away. We were made to feel so special from the moment we arrived. We stayed for 2 nights and went on a full day safari, which was amazing! And Rohan really made sure we saw as much as possible. Such a beautiful, clean property with everything we needed. We are SO pleased we chose to stay here.

GermanyUnfortunately the bathroom wasn't very clean.
First we were not sure about this accomodation because of the low price but when we arrived we were surprised by this lovely hidden accomodation. We stayed there for one night for a safari tour at the next day. The accomodation is located hidden from the mainstreet but picked us up with the jeep from the main street. We had a delicious, big dinner and great breakfast. The host organized us a great morning safari tour with Sira. We would definitively recommend this place and the safari tour.

IndiaSo,this place is in the interiors.. With a very beautiful family handling the show. Its a 2 seperate room cottage. Which will give you full srilankan village vibe . The hospitality is beyond words. At night staying is a treat . As you will have a jungle feeler.. Well they provide you basic stuff. Plus food is what they cook for you if you want at all. Else you need to stuff in for your dinner as there is nothing near by. 1000 RS LKR Pp for dinner. The safari will be taken care by Mr Roshan Pvt safari for 3 hours is around 9kLKR Which is worth and comparatively much lesser than the online ones. Separate your entry tickets. If you are SAARC nation you get discount. I paid 20kLKR for two pax(as my country is part of SAARC) Where actual price is 24k LKR for two pax(Other thn SAARC Countries) More the pax prices goes down These are the latest updated prices .. But well going to this place is different and prices for booking is beyond imagination. Definitely something different. Not for people who are looking luxury. Its more for nature lovers and somebody who wants to feel the very village kind of modern feel along with good safari rates . Little far from national park but the safari guys they take care of it.. Pick and drop is not an issue.

GermanyIt’s run by a very kind family and you get picked up from the Bus station. They offer dinner for 1.000 Rs., which was very delicious. They also organize the Safari for you. The prices are as follows: 3h - 8.000 Rs, 5h - 14.000 Rs, Full day - 20.000 Rs. On top you have to pay the entrence fee to the Park, which was 13.700 Rs (December 2023). I did the 5h Safari and I was pretty happy with it. I would definitely recommend staying at this place.

AustraliaLeesa Villa was an exceptional place to stay! Run by a small family, their main aim is to make you feel welcome. Modern facilities for a cheap price, with a wonderfully scenic outdoor area! They will pick you up from your bus station, so even though it's located a little further from the town it's not an issue. They also offer some of the best deals I have seen when it comes to safaris. Could not reccomend this place more!

United KingdomThe family were so accommodating and you could tell they wanted you to enjoy the time spent here! Food was lovely and the safari arranged was amazing!! They arrange everything in advance so it’s really easy. Price is good in comparison to online booking systems. It’s a little bit far from the centre and a lot of food places were shut when we went in so if you are staying for longer recommend eating with the homestay for most meals

RussiaGoing to the nearest food store takes about 30 minutes, so if this bothers you then you can use pickme app and grab a tuktuk. Squirrels living right above the ceiling can be noisy sometimes, and don't get scared when a mango falls on the roof loudly in the middle of the night. But that's more or a jungle charm than negative points.
Nestled in the quiet embrace of nature, surrounded by mango trees and coconut palms this mini-hotel is my peaceful retreat. It's remarkably quiet here, with only the jungle ambiance and the occasional visit from curious squirrels and monkeys. You won't find many folks around, and it feels like a hidden spot away from the chaos of everyday life. The rooms offer a comfortable escape. They come with AC and hot water, and you can actually drink the tap water here, which is a rare find in Sri Lanka. The beds are super comfy, ensuring you get a good night's sleep. There's even a fridge in one of the rooms, a small detail that makes a big difference. The owners, this wonderful family, are always there for you. They're not just hosts; they're friends who are up for a chat or ready to help with anything reasonable you throw at them. And let's talk about the food. It's great. Breakfast is on the house, but if you're into it, you can line up three square meals a day. It's Sri Lankan home cooking and it's delicious. What's noteworthy is how clean and tidy everything is. There's no dampness or weird smells in the bathroom which is often a problem elsewhere. Despite living a bit of a hike away, the owners swing by every day for maintenance. No annoying loud music or temple calls disrupt the peace either, a blessing in Sri Lanka. It's all about tranquility here - quiet, peaceful, and just serene. I spent a solid four months here, and let me tell you, every moment was valuable. If I find myself back in Sri Lanka, especially Udawalawe, this is where I'll stay again. It's not just a place; it's a home run by some of the loveliest people you'll meet.

United KingdomNothing - place and hosts were absolutely amazing!!!
Couldn't have asked for a better stay!! From the very beginning when we were picked up from the bus stop our hosts could not do enough for us..we were given a welcome fresh coconut and home made cake which was absolutely delicious as well as tea later that day! They offer dinner on site which you should 100% take up the offer of..not only was it reasonably priced but portions were huge and the food was delicious!! We booked our safari through Rojan which was cheaper than booking through a company and was an unbelievable personal experience..he made sure we saw as much wildlife as we could, we had breakfast and lunch included and it was without a doubt the best day of our Sri Lanka trip. Without a doubt 2 of the nicest people we've ever met!!! THANK YOU FOR AN AMAZING STAY.x

Czech RepublicIt's not close to the center, but since we were there mainly just for the Safari, we didn't mind. Still about a 5 minute drive.
Well equipped room with comfortable bed, aircondition and ceiling fan. All in a beautiful garden. Very helpful staff who recommended a great safari driver (knows all the animals and knows how to find them - you need to leave early in the morning). Good and plentiful breakfast to enjoy. There was no problem even arranging dinner. The price for all services was very low.

Turkeyit was the highlight of our Sri Lanka trip. The villa is located just inside the jungle with amazing view.. Rooms were very clean and neat. There was hot water and AC available. İrisha and her husband became our friends more than hosts. She cooked us a dinner which was rhe best meal we had at Sri Lanka. They both were very kind and helpful. They arranged a safari tour for us with a discount. They drop us to the bus station and waited for us there until the bus arrived. The price was really affordable with rhe service they provided.. Overall, we are really hally and satisfied with our friend. We recommend Leesa Villa to everyone who is planning to visit Udawalawe.
