We stayed at the leopards nest for 1 night and it truly was an unforgettable experience. After reading some mixed reviews, it exceeded our expectations and I am so happy we planned this into our itinerary. The hotel sent driver information which we shared with our driver and everything was seemless. The safari truck was waiting for us and we did the afternoon safari. The guy was great, really knowledgeable- we were lucky enough to see elephants really close up and many other amazing animals. He then took us to the hotel around 6pm. We had a bbq dinner which was very cute, the food was really good quality too. We booked a sky nest and had a couple of little frog visitors in the bathroom but we didn’t mind, they added to the memories! The sky nest was really clean and more comfortable than we were expecting. WiFi only worked in the main restaurant areas but that’s okay, it was nice to be off the grid for one night. Again, breakfast exceeded our expectations and the hotel liaised with our driver for a smooth pick up. The staff are lovely and I fully recommend for one night if you want a safari and jungle glamping experience.

Nothing - we had a great time!

- The leopards nest staff were great at accommodating our requests including upgrading our booking from what was originally booked on booking.com and honouring the booking.com price (thank you so much for this). I actually would go as far to as that the staff here were probably some of the nicest and most willing to please, that we have experienced in the whole of Sri Lanka (there was nothing they didn’t try to help with). Excellent communication was also given on WhatsApp prior to arrival, in order to arrange parking our tuk tuk elsewhere in a secure location. Leopards nest staff kindly met us at this point and drove us to the camp via their land rover jeep which was no more than 15 minutes away. - Considering some of the mixed reviews on booking.com, for a one night unique stay in the jungle and visiting Yala National Park, the leopards nest ended up not only meeting but exceeding our expectations (based on what we had read). There was no surprise that there was a gecko in the room at one point and a small little frog in the bathroom, but what do you expect when you are staying in the middle of a jungle area. They did not bother us in the slightest and were extremely harmless (I’ve seen geckos in literally every accommodation I’ve stayed in in Sri Lanka). Another good thing about the accommodation was the plug in mosquito repellent and also the mosquito net over the bed - which was great at ensuring we escaped bite free. - The food was plentiful and delicious, especially the arrival lunch and the sizeable breakfast. Dinner was a bbq jungle experience late evening upon return from the safari. 7.30pm. - Regarding our safari which the Leopards Nest arranged, we ended up having a great experience with a great driver / guide. However if you are looking to save money, and want to pay for the convenience of having everything arranged for you, then there are probably cheaper companies that you could choose.

Half board does not include a Safari, we paid an additional $75 per person. On booking.com it looks as if you have this included due to old questions.. in addition, a bad start to the day began when the driver was 25 minutes late, and we arrived back early to base.. meaning we did not get a 3 hour safari (we did a half day). In addition we did not see leopards, but the driver sort of ‘gave up’ when we realised chances were slim.. highly disappointing. I strongly recommend you book another Safari operator! Staff were very odd, it’s a bunch of blokes wondering around in football shirts… for a $200 a night hotel, it feels a little ‘rough around the edges’. An example of the poor service is, we ordered a sandwich to be delivered to our room, which took 1.5hrs!

We stayed in the Queens nest, overlooking a watering hole in which you might (we didn’t!) see elephants! It was a great experience, and one to remember.

The safari, BBQ dinner under the stars with Bon fire and lanterns, the breakfast, friendly staff and all added so much to the overall experience. We would definitely come again!
