The bathroom had a pretty unpleasant damp smell that carried through to the other rooms but its understandable with the air moisture.

Nicely located with green surroundings, the breakfast was really awesome with fresh fruit and delicious savoury items too. Family was really friendly too.

The accommodation itself is a bit dated but it's in a nice location and what you'd expect in the heart of Sri Lanka.

The staff were fantastic. Extremely friendly and helpful. Genuinely couldn't ask for better. We even accidentally left something behind and they got it sent by courier to our next destination.

The staff were wonderful. If you have the money get the best room the view is amazing. Well worth the extra, The breakfast was amazing. View is sun rise beautiful.

It would be nice if there was a fridge in the room and the person showing us to the room gave instructions on how to get hot water. Every hotel is different and it's very annoying to have to find someone when you are in a towel. The mozzi net could do with a wash.

We liked having back road to the township along the track. Breakfast was great.

Lack of a common area/office.

Love how they added some special touches (eg. Adaptor in the room, good fan, cold water in a fridge), decent wifi, nice generous breakfast. Beautiful deck and view.

Madushanka is a very nice familiy-led guesthouse. The owner and his team were very polite and respectful. We were lucky and got the cozy room on the top floor which not only comes with superb views but also a private balcony where the excellent breakfast was served. The location is a perfect starting point for hiking Ella Rock, the train station is 5 minutes away (if you don’t mind walking along the tracks), and you can stay away from the main strip of Ella which is rather dull (yet in walking distance). A yoga place is less than five minutes away which I found very convenient for the early morning session.

The room is a bit small. It was ok for a solo traveller but it would have been too small for 2 people. Breakfast could also be improved.

The hotel is situated uphill in a quiet area far from the noisy central road in Ella. The room has a nice balcony where they serve you tea after check-in. Very friendly staff.

Great location in the centre of Ella. Just a short (albeit steep) 10 minutes to the main street with various bars and restaurants. Staff were lovely and the balcony breakfast was great. Really good value for money

It was good value for money and lived up to our expectations!

The lodge was well located - just a short stroll from the main street in Ella - and the room was comfortable with hot water and an AMAZING view of Ravan Falls. The breakfast was filling and the staff were very accomodating in fixing us something when we had an early train to catch. We were welcomed with a tray of tea on arrival which caught the attention of a monkey in the trees - resulting in one of our best anecdotes!

The property was extremely comfortable. Big rooms with great showers etc. a lovely setting high up with stunning views. The food was delicious and the owners and staff went out of their way to facilitate different dietary needs.

A bit more expensive than other guest houses we have stayed at that are of similar quality. The pillows were quite blocky.

Great views from our balcony and a delicious breakfast. A really easy short walk to the main street but set back a bit so it's quiet and peaceful. In the late afternoon monkeys would come and play in the trees in front of the accomodation which was fun to watch. You can also see the train go past as the track is a short distance behind the guest house The owners have a tuk tuk so dropped us at the station free of charge which was very kind.

A lot of steps to get to the room. Bathroom adequate but a bit primitive. Didn’t spoil our visit though.

Beautiful room with a large balcony which had amazing views. Really comfortable bed and pillows. Breakfast brought to our room in the morning. Almost at the top of a big hill which was easy to walk down and a 400rupee tuktuk ride back. Loved it!
