Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Czech RepublicAfter 1.5 years of my travelling I have to say that Niduwari Lake was the best homestay where I stand. Owner is so nice person, he picked me up from the bus station and also dropped me off there on my last day, helped me find my bus to Kandy. All the time I felt so good there, even it is a homestay you have a lot of privacy. Owner gave me a lot of tips what to visit around the place, also gave me a advice about the shortcut to the bus station around a lake what it is so beautiful walk in Dambulla. Brekfast was amazing, I think that the biggest breakfast which I experienced in whole Asia and definitively in Sri Lanka, so tasty Sri Lanka dishes as Sambol (hopefully I remember correctly :)). Fresh fruits, delicious tea and combination of sweet and salt option and bottle of water every morning. Location is also good, 30 minutes walk to the bus station, temples and it is situated in beautiful garden, which is very well maintained. You will have a great sleep there. My room was spacious, very clean, the soap and towel is provide as well. Even you can enjoy a hot shower, what is not standard in Sri Lanka, so this was a big plus as well. So I had just positive experience and comparate to quality and price, this place is absolutely perfect choice. And owners do their maximum for your perfect stay. So thank you again :)

GermanyIf you looking for a peaceful little paradise place to rest between the busy visits of cave temple, golden temple or sigyria’s lyon rock, this is your place. We can only repeat the other references. The hosts are super friendly and welcoming, the rooms were clean, the food delicious and decent. It’s no problem that it’s not located in the center as the host brings you to all the places with his little car to the best visit times. Made our Dambulla stay a very pleasant experience. All the best to you Ajit and your family and many thanks for the great service and time.

RussiaEverything was good.
It was a very pleasant stay away from the hustle and bustle. Authentic village in the jungle next to the lake. And yes, we enjoyed swimming in this calm lake with the locals. Above the lake there is a huge Buddha statue and a temple. Very green area. The guest house has a beautiful and well-kept area. Terraces where we were offered tasty breakfasts and dinners. This is a good opportunity to get acquainted with the real cuisine of Sri Lanka. The hostess cooks delicious food. We were very grateful. The owner helped us in everything we need. We spent an interesting time visiting everything we dreamed of. It was convenient and profitable. He is cheerful and kind. We became friends. We'll not forget these wonderful days, full of extraordinary impressions!

PolandIt’s a very nice, peaceful place close to the lake. Owner of this place Mr. Ajith is a great driver, he picked me up from the bus stop, organized trip to Sigirya with different options to choose. He also took me to the famous temple in Dambulla, took care of all my needs. He really takes care of his place to make it even grater. His garden is very cozy and he is building new rooms to expand his business, everything by himself! His wife prepared the best dinner in Sri Lanka I had so far, traditional Sri Lankan food. Don’t go to any restaurant, the best food you will get the place. I can only recommend stay at this beautiful family place.

RussiaStayed at the hotel for 3 days, exploring the area around Dambulla. Beautiful, very clean and well maintained area, clean air conditioned room. Very attentive and friendly host, his wife cooked delicious breakfasts and dinners every day. The house is off the main road, but we were in a car and saw this as an advantage as it was very quiet and peaceful all around. Would recommend!!!

ItalyBeing in nature means you might find some insects in the room, for some people might be a problem.
The host family is so nice and helpful! They drove us around the sites all the time with the tuktuk, and cooked traditional breakfast and dinner every day. The place is calm in nature, near a lake. The position is close to Dambulla and the main bus roads.

ItalyWe reached the homestay with the scooter. It is just outside the center surrounded by nature. Spacious, clean and fresh room. A nice large bathroom with shower, sink and mirror. The owner's wife is an excellent cook! We had dinner there one evening on a wooden patio in the middle of the wonderful garden. the breakfasts were super abundant and delicious. It is truly a beautiful place. I advise!!

United Kingdomhad the most amazing stay at the Niduwari Lake Homestay. It was by chance I found myself staying here after getting let down by a hostel- and I'm so glad I did. From the moment I walked into the beautiful gardens of the homestay, Ajith and his wife provided a first class service. Set just a 5 minute Tuk tuk ride from the bus station, this peaceful property is set in well maintained, stunning gardens right next to a lake. Ajith also has a tuk tuk and took me on a trip to see sunrise at Pidurangula ( all for a price cheaper than other drivers were offering ) and the herbal and medicinal gardens. Ajiths wife also cooks the most delicious food - I had a traditional breakfast, then on the last night ( again for a very reasonable price ) about 6 different local dishes, all of which were great. After all the places I have visited, I have not found better value for money and fantastic service that this property offers. Thank you so much Ajith and family, you have set the bar very high!

ItalyThe only downside of the room was the smell of old and dump, which is unfortunately quite common in the accommodations here in Sri Lanka. We managed to keep the door open while we were on the terrace, (with the mosquito net over the bed) and that helped a lot!
We loved our stay here! We felt so welcomed and taken care of by the owner and his family: they were super responsive from days before via Whatsapp, they are very well organized with a tuktuk car and took care of all the transfers we wanted to visit the beautiful surroundings (a super cute local temple, Sigiriya, Polonnaruwa, the caves etc..), the wife of the owner cooked delicious dinners every night. All these at a very reasonable price. Considering the price of the room we didn't have very high expectations, but we feel this place has been outstanding value for money. The room was very big, quite clean, with hot water and good wifi and a lovely terrace overlooking the garden where we spent most of the time. The included breakfast was everyday different and so tasty! We stayed 3 nights and could have stayed longer! Thanks again for the great hospitality!

New ZealandThis is a beautiful, relaxing property with lovely staff. Everything was very clean, the beds were comfy, and aircon worked well. We had 2 breakfasts and 2 dinners and they were all different. We tried a new fruit and new foods and the meals were very filling. The owner drove us around in his tuk tuk which was helpful as the house is quite far from town, not really walking distance in the heat. We enjoyed relaxing in the garden as there is plenty of places to sit and enjoy the nature and peacefulness.
