I loved this place! It is located a 1-min walk from Kandy View Point, right after Sandriana Lake View Hotel. The rooms are very spacious, comfortable and clean, it is quiet at night and the fan works great (so much so that it felt cool even if it was 35*C during the day). The owner has been most kind and helpful throughout my stay, and she has helped me book a tuktuk to visit the surrounding areas. Although the house is located on a hill, it is barely a 10 min walk and a 2 min tuktuk ride to the city centre, so it wasn’t an issue. Overall a great budget place to stay in Kandy!

The place is cozy and super clean. You can walk to Kandy Lake in 15 minutes. Make sure you take the shortcut through the park. You also have a great view of the town. The landlady was very welcoming and warmhearted. My favourite place to stay in Kandy.

It is a walk uphill or a tuk tuk ride from centre of kandy and train/ bus station. We didn’t mind though

Owner was very friendly, provided mosquito net for me which was great. Also helped store our bags for a few hours.

On the hill, It was a lovely house. We got good memories of our stay. The hostess is very kind. Thank you, for keeping our luggage. We were able to stop the scooter safely. We would like to stay again someday. See you next time.

Excellent location - only a 15 minute walk into central Kandy, and moments away from a great viewpoint overlooking the city. You get the best of both worlds - a peaceful night’s sleep, and proximity to the hustle and bustle. The landlady is very warm and welcoming, and nothing was too much trouble! The room itself was spacious, clean and comfortable. Great value for money. I would definitely stay again.

What a super sweet women who owns this accommodation. We stayed here for two nights and we would definitely stay again. She washed our clothes (a lot) for free!! So nice of her. The bed was really clean (not like other places we have stayed) and it smelled so good, just like our clean clothes. The location is just a short walk (up mountain) from the centre. 10/10 stay! Thank you!

The wifi connection to our room was incredibly weak and non-existent so perhaps something can be done to rectify this. It is up on a STEEP hill so do bare this in mind - we often walked town and got a tuk tuk back up (200 LKR).

The accommodation was comfortable and clean. Despite only have fan rooms, it wasn't too hot overnight which was good as it was 30+ degrees during the day. There is a lovely view from the property and it was very quiet and peaceful escape from the city.

Nothing, however a kettle either in each room or in a communal area would be good.

A lovely place to stay; the owner was so friendly and helpful. It was really light and airy, the windows opened (with grills to stop any cheeky monkeys) which was nice. The fan was sufficient for us. The two beds were comfortable and large. The bathroom was good with lots of hot water. There was seating outside again a bonus. Although uphill it is easily walkable to town (shortcut by the side of the royal garden). Tuk tuk back is 400rupees. The view point overlooking Kandy is just down the road. I would recommend this hotel.

This is our second visit at Uptown Econostay. The lady who owns the property is very kind and helpfull person. Room was clean and comfortable. Excellent service from the staff. Hope to visit in next year too.

Kindest and very helpful owner, clean, confortable and quite room with nice terrace and very good breakfast. Location is also good and convinient. Facility exceeded my expectations despite that i am quite demanding. Strongly reccomend.

Slightly away from the city centre and has uphill walk, but there is a shortcut. In case you are travelling with luggage, better go with tuktuk, which is exorbitant at times for such short distance (but this can be ignored over the value for money aspect)

The host Chandni is an elderly lady and very kind and helpful in guiding and suggesting things about stay. Room was comfortable and clean. Loved the breakfast.

There is no balcony view. The only things I could see were the trees. Overall, the place lacks of wow factor. Also the breakfast is very basic.

The location is good and the place is clean. The staff is kind and helpful. This is an ideal base for a short and cheap stay in Kandy.
