How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

There was no aircon and the sheet for the king size bed were two single bed sizes.
The owner was very friendly and helpful. The hotel had a good view and the lake was easily accessible.

Super clean room. Nice sitting facility outside the room. Well maintained green space (garden). Nice host.

This was probably the one hotel in Sri Lanka, that we never forget. the owner was so kind and helpful, best breakfast( the monkeys stole some fruits). we had a good sleep , it was wery quiet. old furniture , but with history!

The hosts were extremely kind and accommodating. Supplied us with a kettle and cups to make tea as and when we wanted. Nice terrace for a very plentiful breakfast.

We had a big room with a shady privat balkony. Very comfortable, calm and clean. The owners are very friendly and kind. The breakfast was delicious and filling. With a lot of saisonal fresh fruits. We really enjoyed to be guests here and extened our relaxing stay for two times :-)

some ants were on the floor, but that‘s the only little thing, didn’t bother us too much.
Really nice owner and big spacious room! Location was good, just a few minutes walk to the centre. The breakfast was really nice aswell! It was also not too bad with just a fan and no air con!

Amazing hotel. Our room was very spacious, the bathroom was modern and clean and we even had a balcony with a lovely view. The family were lovely and helpful. The breakfast included was delicious and very big. On the first morning we did not eat the banana sandwich so he replaced it with new things the next day - very thoughtful and we really appreciated the new food! Location is excellent, in a quiet area, about 25 mins to centre, 5 mins to lake.

The beds was a little hard…
Very nice and friendly people. The owner drove us for free to the busstation and they offer us free fruits. The rooms was very clean and big. The hotel is very calm and has nice balcony for have a rest . Really nice place to stay in kandy !!!

The equipment of the room is no longer the youngest and would be worth renewing
Very good location, quiet and within walking distance to the center and the Temple of the Buddha's Tooth. Willing owners. Great breakfast. I definitely recommend it.

The hotel is not far from the center and in a quiet area. Palitha and his wife are very caring people. They served us a great breakfast and fulfilled our special wishes. Palitha gave us a lift to the city center on our first day and stopped by a viewpoint. The view from the balcony is very nice. Free drinking water is available.

Mosquitoes and other insects (carry a mosquito repellent and keep the doors/windows closed to avoid them), water bottles were not given, you have to ask the host to turn on the geyser in case it is not on already
Budget friendly stay, closer to city centre (walking distance), extremely friendly and helpful host, breakfast was included in my stay (they can serve breakfast early morning too as per request), room was decently sized

Absolutely great accommodation. Good location close to the lake, but also very nice and quiet. Good view from the balcony as well. Breakfast is the best we had in Sri Lanka in an entire month. Very happy!

Host was super friendly and very helpful, went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. Amazingly good breakfast was provided for a small extra cost. Great location near the lake, easy to get around on foot. Clean and comfortable room, spacious balcony area with many lovely potted plants.
