Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

FinlandHmmm...maybe the dark streets and straydogs near aren't the best in the evenings.
The breakfast was on point with fresh fruits and the bed was great and the location is also almost perfect so you can walk everywhere.

PakistanNothing really to not like about this place.
The best part was the peaceful and clean atmosphere. It's a 5 min walk from the main road and beach so you don't get any noise of the traffic. The team is really friendly and well conversant in English. Gamini and his son Charindu have been really helpful throughout our stay. The interior and ambience of the rooms is very chic!

United KingdomPeacock Villa was a perfect balance between a family-run stay and a slice of luxury. The whole team (including Simba the dog!) were friendly, welcoming and so thoughtful. The bed was the comfiest we have had on the whole trip resulting in the best night’s sleep we have had during our stay.

United KingdomThis was our favourite place that we stayed in during our trip. The staff were exceptional and the service was at a very very high standard for the price. The breakfast was also amazing! In comparison to Peacock Villa, everywhere else we stayed afterwards seemed a bit of a disappointed, thats how amazing Peacock Villa is!

United KingdomThere were lots of mosquitoes on the patio areas outside our rooms making it hard to sit outside in the mornings and evenings. There was a plug in repellent but it was empty.
Lovely staff delicious breakfast and clean, comfortable rooms. Plenty of towels provided for the beach and shower as well as lots of extras like torches water on tap tea and coffee etc

NetherlandsOne of the best hotels I've ever stayed in Sri Lanka. Clean and cosy room with everything you need, including bath accessories. A beautiful garden with lots of plants, super friendly and helpful staff, an amazing terrace with a view and a delicious breakfast with fresh fruit, tea-coffee, local pancakes (so yummy!), eggs, toast etc. And of course the heart and soul of this place - Simba, the dog. Thank you for this amazing piece of heaven, I would love to come back here one day.

PolandOur stay at Peacock villa was perfect. The family who runs the place made every effort to make our stay memorable and seamless. They organized airport pick up for us as well as few trips with very reliable driver. They take a good care of the property - not only the rooms were perfectly clean but also the area outside. Rooms were spacious, with all we needed - safety deposit box, fridge, beach towels, kettle, nice balcony. There were no insects inside. The beach is reachable in around 10 mins on foot - Mirissa beach or 15 mins - turtle beach, but as we stayed with 3y old child, we often asked for tuk tuk. Breakfasts were delicious, however there could have been more variety. Great take away breakfasts prepared even at 5 am. All in all, highly recommended! Thank you!

Czech RepublicYou have to walk 5-10 minutes to beach (tuktuk is possible only on the way back - there is no tuktuk’s place next to hotel).
- Garden was full of animals (dog, squirrels, peacock, birds..), it was really nice to sit in terrace and watch them. - Accommodation was very clean. - You can fill your bottle with water. It is really useful idea for travellers and also eco friendly. - It is generator here, so they are good prepared for electricity cuts. - Laundry service was good and fast. - Breakfast was tasty.

CroatiaThe location is 10 min walk from Mirissa beach, so a little bit further than maybe some other hotels, but this didn’t bother us - it’s a short walk from the main road (or you can take a tuk tuk if you want - we took it at night and during power cuts when there was no street light because it gets really dark at those times).
This was the most expensive, but also the most comfortable stay we had in Sri Lanka. The staff working there are wonderful, breakfast is amazing (you can always choose between 3 options), the room was spacious, really clean and comfortable and nicely equipped. An extra bonus was the generator which provided electricity at all times, so we didn’t have to worry about power cuts. Would definitely stay here again!

The most friendly staff we met in Sri Lanka, always welcoming us with a smile. The host was always near and approachable. The room was very clean and the breakfast was superb. In the room there was plenty of information about the facilitairs so we knew exactly what we could expect and for example how we could do our laundry,… We loved everything!

The place is one of the nicest, what we have seen around Mirissa. The staff are nice, the breakfast are really good and we also like the location in on a city center but 10 minutes by walk from the main beach, so it is really quite :) one small restaurant for rotti is pretty close so you don´t need to worry about the dinner :)

GermanyI can absolutely warmly recommend the Peacock Villa for your stay in Mirissa. It was one of the best (maybe the best) accommodation during my trip. Starting with the high standards of the rooms where you can really feel comfortable and the balcony with view in the Dschungel is amazing. The rooms are so comfortable and big and with love to details. The location is quiet and you can listen to the sound of the nature. On the other hand it is really closed to Mirissa centre and beach by foot (about 10 min). I don’t really like the other hotels at the beach as they are often directly at the street and it is really noisy. The villa is also furnished with love to details and you can just feel like at home. The breakfast is also really delicious and you will get the best coconut roti and pancakes I had in Sri Lanka - also the coffee is really good (hard to find in Sri Lanka). Beside the accommodation itself I really enjoyed the stay as the owner (Charindu and his father) as well as the whole staff are just so warm-hearted and they are really service oriented and just want to make your stay unique. Thank you so much ans I will definitely come back:)
