Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyThe family is super sweet and welcoming! They help you with anything you could need and more. We ate their dinner and it was one of the best dinners (if not the best) tht we've had in Sri Lanka! In the morning we took the 7h safari with our host and saw lots of animals - it was great! When we had to leave, they even helped us to get onto the right bus. The room was clean and not too hot eventough we booked without AC! Definetly recommend staying here! 🫶🏼

United KingdomThere was nothing to dislike.
This stay was a highlight on our tour of Sri Lanka. The place itself was very comfortable, the food absolutely amazing. The hospitality second to none. The family here were unbelievably thoughtful even from before our stay started, messaging ahead to see they could help with travel plans getting to them, seeing if there was anything we would like to make our stay more comfortable. We were really tired one day and went to bed very early but they were worried we had'nt had dinner and knocked with bowls of fruit salad in case we were peckish. There is a little shop on site to get water or snacks. And their safari business runs from there too so do not miss the door to door safari as well. It was an incredible day. Just to say too that you are so close to the national park that every day we were there, elephants appeared opposite the property. It was amazing just to sit and watch them from the balcony. We would recommend Peacock Villa Resort without hesitation. This stay was exceptional, and exceptional value for money.

GermanyWe couldn't find anything.
Super nice family and one of the best hosts we had in Sri Lanka. The wife is an exceptional chef, who prepared a massive dinner on the day we arrived. Very delicious and prepared with love. Definitely to much for one person, but very tasty. They use local products and explain to you all the different dishes. The host offers a safari in the morning with his own car for a very reasonable price:) if you get breakfast with your stay, you can enjoy an awesome Sri Lanka breakfast during your safari while sitting next to a beautiful lake. Very welcoming and friendly. Also organised transportation for us (Ella to Udawalawa) for very fair price. Please keep your accomodation the way it is and your way of hosting:)

GermanyThe stay at the Peacock Villa Resort was fantastic! There was a welcome drink on arrival. The room was great. The safari was guided by our host, so we were able to go directly from the accommodation to the national park by jeep the next day. Our driver chose different routes so that we didn't drive with all the other cars and therefore had a better view of the animals. He drove a lot of different routes so that we could see lots of animals. Halfway through the safari we had breakfast. We drove to a specific spot in the park from where we had a view of a lake. Our guide set up chairs and a table for breakfast. We had a delicious breakfast with pancakes, roti, tea, coffee, water and fruit. In the evening, we had dinner at the accommodation. Here we were treated to a variety of local dishes. The food was so delicious and prepared with lots of love.

The family hosting us were extremely welcoming and polite including the children. We stayed for 2 nights and opted to do the full day safari which was provided at a reasonable price. We were taken to some great spots away from other jeeps and saw lots of animals including Elephants, crocodiles, monkeys. We had breakfast/lunch provided as part of the safari which had been freshly prepared that morning, which was delicious. We opted to have meals cooked for us in the evening which was some of the best food we have had in Sri Lanka. We had a great view of elephants and monkeys across the road from the balcony. Everything we felt we needed was provided. There is no wifi however allows for a full rest and break from the world to take in the surroundings.

GermanyI‘m so glad we stayed here - the host family is the cutest ever. They cooked us the most delicious, varied food for breakfast and dinner every day and helped us catch a bus to our next destination. We had lovely and interesting chats with the wife who speaks English very well. The husband took us on a safari, where we saw a lot of elephants, deer, buffalos, mongooses, pelicans, crocodiles, peacocks etc. He made sure we weren’t taking the same route as the masses most of the time. Tip: if you do the 7 hour tour you might get lucky and see the elephants bathing together in the afternoon. We also regularly saw an elephant from the balcony of the room. The rooms very super clean, beautiful and the balconies were great for chilling. Thank you so much!!

United StatesWe've had such a good time here. We chose the hotel for it's reviews, but we stayed one extra day because we enjoyed it so much. The dinners were cooked and prepared just for us (by the lovely mom of the house) and to our preferences. It was so delicious, and the portions are large to say the least. She cooked for 15 people when we were just 2 The breakfast is variated and tasty, and when we arrived we got a lovely welcome juice from their handpicked passion fruits. The whole family who runs this is lovely, welcoming, honest, funny and warm. My kid played with their kids who also took us down to the river close by. We saw water buffaloes bathing there. So cool! I had some issues with my phone, and they drove me all the way into town on their motorbike just to get it fixed. It was so kind and helpful. I mean, they didn't have to do that. They genuinely care about other people. We felt so taken care of, helped and welcome here. Its sad to leave this jungle paradise. They have so much knowledge about the nature and animals that sorrounds them. We were told that "this bird has a nest there" and "those eagles usually lands there" and "that elephant you see with this kind of markings. We had a really cool 12 hour safari experience here for a reasonable price. The guide (the dad of the house) speaks good English and would show us the animals and even the species of bird we saw in his book in like 2 seconds. He knew that book, that's for sure. He knew where to go in the park to see the different animals and he was a wonderful guide. But before the safari even started we had already seen elephants, water buffaloes, eagles (one actually landed 1 m away from us), squirrels, a mongoose, green parrots and peacocks. The villa is just outside of the national parks borders, so animals frequently visit.

AustriaIt was hot at night and there were a lot of insects but that is normal in this area and not the fault of the homestay!!!
Wonderful homestay!! The family is super nice and they organise everything you need. We did a safari with them and were really skeptical at first that it will be a race with jeeps in the nationalpark. But they went off the beaten track and did a wonderful safari! We also loved dinner and the breakfast was the best we had so far! Their juices sourced with fruits from their own garden were also super delicious! We definitely recommend this place!!!

We were warmly welcome by fresh juice when we arrived. And when we left we had a snack bag. The entire family runs the resort brilliantly. The service is professional. We laughed at lot we made memories. The food is fresh, homemade and delicious. Every meals was served in big proportion, and well presented. We really appreciate to have a bottle of water included within each meal. The safari was an great experience. We left at 5.45am, enjoyed the magnificent sunrise and observed animals in the National Park. We took our homemade breakfast in the park. We really enjoyed this experience. We rent a motorbike on site.Such a good experience. The room is clean, quiet, comfortable with A/C, hot water and wifi. From the balcony we can see the National park, so elephants, buffalo, monkeys, peacocks can be seen and heard.
