Absolutely nothing

Everything was excellent and amazing. The kindness of the family, the wonderful food they made for us, the helpfullness. It was unbelievable. The house is clean and very comfortable. The bed is massive and has a great matrass and mosquitonet. It has a big porch from where you have the most beautiful view of Ella and the surrounding mountains. We loved sitting there, watching the peacocks in the trees. If it was possible to give this accommodation a higher mark then a 10, we would. We were blown away by it.

One of the best places to stay in Sri Lanka. Far enough away from bustling downtown Ella, but easy to reach from Kittha Ella railway station and a perfect start point for a climb to Ella Rock. The owner drive us around with his Tuk-Tuk for such a low price that made me feel ashamed. The food (breakfast and diner) is simply awesome. The potato curry was rated by my son as being the best curry he ever had. If you are looking for a quiet place near Ella, YOLO cottage is maybe the best place to go.

Minor points but the fridge is a bit noisy, and the shower has low pressure. Bathroom is in need of an update.

Very hospitable family owned and run. Fantastic food. Breakfast the best so far and dinner among the best. Extremely helpful with information and run their own tuc-tuc to take you anywhere. View is spectacular (like being in a tree house). Peaceful yet 10 mins by tuc-tuc to Ella "city" or an hour's stroll along the railway. We would love to return one day.

Nothing, I would like to stay there longer !

Amazing owners who really take care of guests comfort. They prepared amazing breakfast for us. The owner also got tuck tuck witch was really convenient with transport, they also communicate very well and respond fast for all our needs. Beautiful location with balcony with amazing mountains panorama, room got everything we needed and even water, tea, coffee and some toilets with is not so common in cheaper Sri Lankan home stays.

We liked everything

Lovely cottage, very private with stunning views and well situated for climbing Ella’s Rock. Very sweet family who cooked us lovely food and had an on-site tuk tuk for ease of driving us into town as the son has one. It was lovely to be away from the madness of the town but near enough to pop in for dinner if we felt like it. Loved watching the birds and monkeys in the forest around the cottage. Comfortable bed. Excellent Wi-Fi.

Waking up to the most breathtaking view and having a wonderful breakfast served was such a treat. The atmosphere and surroundings off this place is unbeatable. The family has done a fantastic job with the terasse with recliner chairs and dinner table all to enjoy the view. We had dinner here every night - it was the best we have had so far on our trip. Wonderful and so helpful family. We will have to come back to Yolo again .

Amazing cottage, amazing view, amazing family. I am missing this place so much. Perfect place to relax and calm down. Location is also great. Breakfast the best we had in Sri Lanka. Breakfast, dinner, location, views, hospitality of the owners. Can't say enough good things about the family who run Yolo, so helpful and put on an amazing spread for each meal. Good to be out of town but they made it so easy to get in and out when we needed. Also, helped arrange transfers to get us to the next location. Can't recommend enough!

Watershower Was Not very good and there was a chemical smell

Magical view from a small cottage away from the main circus in Ella. The view is awesome! The family who runs the Business arr the most nicest and caring ones you can imagine. The breakfast and dinner was very very tasty and A LOT! Be sure to be hungry! They drove us everywhere and gave us Tipps about the Area in Ella which was very helpful. The Road to the little house is very steep, we were afraid to drive it with our own tuktuk, so they helped us. The cabin itself is very basic, Not very comfty (bathroom is not very nice) but wh n you step out on the balcony you easily forget about that. If you would like to have a great view, a quiet stay and A lot of Green nature than you should stay at Yolo lovely cottage. Thank you :)

Not an issue but be aware that the water pressure is very low. And no cupboard space.

Our hosts went out of their way to make sure we were looked after. The cottage is basic but excellent for the price and has everything you need. The view is spectacular and quiet, as we did not want to be in Ella central which is too noisy. The cottage is an eight minute tuk tuk ride to town, with the host lifting us everywhere, plus took us to the start of the sunrise hike. And they made us the best breakfast in sri lanka. Also don't miss walking down to Bees Honey for a meal.

Overall we really appreciated our stay, but there could be more water pressure in the bathroom. Shower gel and shampoo would be nice additions. The bed was on the harder end of the spectrum.

The host family is so kind and attentive. The home cooked meals (breakfast and dinner) were exceptional and some of the best meals we had in Sri Lanka. The host communicated seamlessly with our driver and was generally very responsive via WhatsApp.

The property looked amazing and was very comfortable. Surrounded by nature on all four sides, literally woke up to the sound of nature every morning. The food prepared by the host and family is delicious - home cooked Sri Lankan food! Will definitely recommend. They were also very helpful in telling us what places to visit which should be private. Nothing to dislike with this lovely family!

We had such a wonderful stay at this lovely cottage / home stay! We loved the warm welcome by the whole family, thank you for picking us up from the train station! :) The cottage was spotless and very nicely decorated (love the dimmable lights) and very comfortable as well! The cooking class by Vimuktih's mom and aunt was amazing. It doesn't get any more authentic than this. So nice to cook with the whole family present (happy that dog Randy came back!:)) They also offered to use their own shower after we got back from a hike after our checkout time, it was so nice to shower outside in their garden, loved the local experience! This stay is definitely one to remember and recommend!

They provided the best breakfast we had on our entire trip with wonderful pancakes, fresh fruit, and local cuisine. The staff offered us TukTuk transportation around Ella at very reasonable prices and were always available and helpful. The internet was a bit spotty at times, but I guess that is normal for being way out in mountainous nature, and it is a good trade off for the excellent view and being within walking distance of Ella Rock..

The time here at yolo lovely cottage was amazing! The accommodation is beautiful, the view from the terrace is unbeatable and the bed is super cozy. The dinner and breakfast was super delicious and even if there are thousands of restaurants in ella, we couldn’t find a better place to eat than here! *WOW* We are so happy being your guests for the last days. The whole „YOLO Lovely Cattage“ family is absolutely amazing. Your hospitality is next level. We LOVE: - the cozy and clean cottage - especially the bed with the 1***** mattress - the big terracce with it´s stunning view - your willingness to help - the start in the day with your fabulous breakfast ( sorry that we never managed to eat everything ) - it was always enough for breakfast, lunch and a snack for hiking - every day we were fallen in love with your Sri Lankian Dinner - mother Anulawathi is the best cook ever - when we felt sick you took care of us - when we needed any kind of help, had questions, needed a tuktuk or anything else we only had to message to „Vinukthi“ and two seconds later he answered. Your wish was fullfiled. - We could go on and go on with the list. We can hardly describe how kind this family is. YOU ARE THE BEST ! Yolo Lovely Cottage is such a beautiful place. Just Execptional . Lovely cottage, spacious room and huge balcony. Misty view from balcony is just fabulous. Breakfast is also very delicious and huge. And the host family are just wonderful. So lovely kind and helpful. Always ready for help and guidance. I can't recommend enought. I'm giving 10 on 10.
