Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomA very nice place in the middle of nowhere. You get to see and hear so much nature it's absolutely amazing. Would definitely recommend this place. They also organise tours into the forest for every budget as I was a bit short on the asking price and they made it a bit shorter but I was still able to see some great wildlife and had a good time.

RussiaIt was very hot in the room after sunset till about midnight, then it was bearable. You might hear other guests speaking on their porch - two guest units are quite close to each other. Half of the breakfast was over burnt, but pol rotties were thick and sufficient, though.
Good memorable overnight stay in the hills of Sinharaja. Relaxing views, friendly host, clean room, mosquito repellent in the room is provided. Your own transport is highly recommended, as there is nothing around accessible by short walk. Dinner can be ordered on the place.

FranceBathroom could have been a bit cleaner. The brother od the owner was first a bit insistent to sell us a tour to the reserve. But then no problem that we didnt take it and made a tour of our own.
The place is so beautiful, staying in a room on a hill facing the valley! The family house and the rooms are in an incredible garden of banana trees and avocado, mango, pepper, cinammon trees etc. Birds are everywhere. Breakfast and meals are very good. Family was kind and we had pleasure to exchange with the owner who showed us his garden. A perfect place to rest or meditate

DenmarkI loved it all
This place is like a dream. You sit on your own balcony surrounded by views of rain forest, mountain tops, birds in all colours. The extremely friendly host family prepares tasty sri lankan food, offer you fruits from their own garden - they have ALL sorts of interesting fruits depending on season. They show you around their tea plantage and all in all just makes you feel good. The cabana (cottage) has all basics and is very clean. This is not luxury, but I personally didn't miss anything. My best recommendations!

Spainits right in nature, super close to the forest reserve. super cozy, beautiful and tranquil place. the family who owns the place was super friendly and accomodating - they stayed up late and even made us dinner when we arriverad at around 11 pm due to issues with our drive there. both breakfast, lunch and dinner was very good, and they even made it all vegan since i wrote in the booking message that i am vegan! we went on a nice hike in the forest reserve with a friend of the family who is a tour guide(he was very knowledgable) and one of the brothers offered to come with us to help with translation since we were a bit worried about language barriers. may be good to know that there is no hot water but we honestly did not mind at all since it was hot outside

NorwayEven if there's a fan in the room, I would've loved if it was air-condition there as it's very warm and humid.
The hosts are amazing!! It's run by two brothers on their parents' tea plantation. The two brothers are helpful, caring, polite, and very eager to show you around in their village. And I will absolutely encourage you to let them show you around. Their mum makes the most delicious meals, better than any restaurants I've visited during my 3 weeks stay. The little house has a beautiful view of the rain forest. I really enjoyed sitting on the little balcony drinking coffee. It's a kettle in the room so you can have coffee or tea whenever you like to. They also arranged a walk in Sinharaja for me, it was a very nice walk, about 4 hours. We didn't see a lot, so if you're interested in birds, I will recommend doing some of the longer hikes. And even go in another gate than the closest one.

NetherlandsIt was all good!
This is an absolute must to stay if you want to go to Sinharaja rainforest. It was amazing to stay on their own property where they grow their own tea, black pepper, cinnamon and even Durian! The brothers Dumith and Pathma were really nice people and make you feel like family. You get your own cabin, which is very private, and have the best views of the area all over their fields and the jungle. Stunning views in the evening with fireflies! 😍 We loved the food they cooked for us. Dumith, you’re a great cook! Tom loved your chilly paste, we saved your recipe. Tom & Mitch

GermanyThe owners were really friendly and always offered us their homemade tea, some coconut drink and we were brought to a beautiful natural swimming pool for free. They also arranged us a tour to Sinharaja rainforest which was perfect. We had a guide for our own und we swam under a waterfall. The view from the balcony and even from bed was breathtaking and you could hear the sound of several animals. Their mother cooked us delicious dinner and breakfast, lunch is also possible. We recommend the rainforest nature house to everyone who is looking for some quiet time and beautiful nature.
