How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

A beautiful hotel where you can only hear the sound of the birds and the river. The host welcomed us warmly and arranged a worthwhile safari. The dinner was delicious. The rooms were very clean and the environment was amazing. Highly recommended

Very nice and helpful owners, rooms were very clean. Very refreshing and delicious food. The best part is the beautiful river flowing in front of the rooms. Best quality and price. The safari was arranged according to our needs. It's really amazing. We can recommend to everyone!

We enjoyed our accommodation a lot! Such a peaceful place deserves to rest. Close to Udawalawe town center and national park. Very warm, kind, supportive hosts surprised our stay. The food was great and the owner organized a safari for us and it was great! The owner allowed us to stay longer than we needed. When we needed wine, he did it. Thank you so much for the lovely stay!

Great location, friendly owner and his wife. Great food. The best thing was the safari trip.The driver was the best guide. Very good knowledge in animal/bird identification and it is amazing. The hammocks and jacuzzi tab are awesome.

Great location, friendly and kind owner, delicious and delicious food. The best is the elephant safari. The best driver is a valuable guide who is very knowledgeable and amazing in spotting animals/birds.The accommodation is the best design built by the owner.

All the rooms face the river and we enjoyed its coolness in the evening. The jacuzzi tab at the hotel is a very colorful safari trip. Highly recommended.

We were warmly welcomed and treated to delicious food. Amazing environment. The river flowing in front of the rooms is spectacular. They organized the morning safari and it was a really special trip. Learned about many animals and prepared our breakfast at the safari park. The safari is as good as the accommodation. No flaws. Highly recommended.

I love this place. We would love to stay longer than one night. It is very peaceful. The river flowing in front is very scenic. The large hammocks by the river are very comfortable. The food was delicious. The hotel's own safari jeep arranged for our safari and would recommend it. Not included..

A scenic river in front of my room. The safari trip organized by the hotel was excellent. Dinner and breakfast were very delicious. Breakfast was arranged to be taken at the safari park and it was a new experience. The owner of the hotel, Asanka, was very kind and gave his car for a very reasonable price to go to Mirissa city. I strongly recommend for safari. There are no drawbacks.
