How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

We had bad luck with some quiet loud neighbours.

It would have been nice to have a fridge in my room. The power is turned on using a key fob, I suspect so that guests don't leave the AC running all the time when they're out. I needed to charge several items ahead of my flight back to the UK, and could only do this when I was in my room.
Great hotel only metres from the beach in Negombo. Room was clean and comfortable, with an excellent AC unit to keep me cool. Breakfast was delicious, and cooked to order. Great value for money. V highly recommended.

We stayed for 7 nights. Did not fully meet Booking.com description of facilities. I.e there was no safety deposit box, had to request a fridge which was delivered the following day but was not a mini bar. Tea, coffee and milk were not replenished unless asked for, this was also the same for towels and room cleaning. However the response was good.
Lovely room, helpful management and staff. Close to beach, shops and restaurants. Breakfast was good and plentiful. Sharmen was very helpful and made every effort to make our stay enjoyable. Which it was. It was very good value for money despite some minor things mentioned below.

Reasonably priced, good breakfast, large room with big bed and balcony. Plenty of local information provided which was helpful and interesting. Would definitly reccommend.

Taxi from airport could not find the property very easily- would be helpful if there was a sign on the road directing to the property.

The location was excellent, close to shops, restaurants and bars yet on a quiet street away from noise. Bedroom was really big and the bed was massive :) Everything was spotlessly clean. Would definetly stay here again. Owner was very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend this spot. I

The room needs renovation. But the price is cheap so its fine.
Its close to the beach just 5min. Close to wester restaurant Boho. I guess one of the best hotels there. Staff very nice and helpful and they smile a lot

The owner is amazing and very helpful! Early check-in was not a problem. The room was clean and nice, and the breakfast was delicious! I recommend this place for the first nights in Sri Lanka 😊

Wonderful people, very helpful and supportive! Breakfast delicious! Very clean and comfortable. I even forgot my watch and the owner called and is keeping it for me until I pick it up later on. Go there because it is money very nicely spent, you won't regret it! We will be back as well!

Sometimes could hear the party sound from the nearby cafe. Mosquitos. Water from the sink didn't flow away ideally.
Very good location, room, everything what we needed. Hotel is well maintained. Breakfast and laundry available. As in pictures.

Great choice. Nice room with aircon and fan. Very clean. Bathroom with always hot water. Good breakfast. Quiet location near the beach. Restaurants, shops, etc. nearby. Friendly and helpful. Probably one of the best value for money stays in Negombo.
