The beds were large and comfortable. The terrace overlooking the garden and the small restaurant area was very pleasant. The family who run Shen are so very lovely. They are all great chefs and are incredibly helpful and kind. They put on a fantastic cookery class for us using produce from their gardens which we were shown around to pick coconuts, curry leaves, banana flowers etc. They told us about the best times to climb Lion’s Rock and where to swim in a lake and a nearby pool as well as local temples etc. We stayed 4 days and there was more than enough to do. We can’t wait to return!

It‘s a family run Homestay. The people are SO FRIENDLY and they do basically everything for you. Grandmama even made us Coconut-Rice for breakfast (special request) and dinner with them are amazing as they let you try their Sri Lankan food. CAN ONLY RECOMMEND, would stay there again, they speak very well English and know a lot about their culture and explain it to you. They are very interested in people all over the world. They have a bicycle rent as well as well as a Tuktuk. 12/10 points to them, we felt like leaving a family!

Shen and Hansi were incredible. Welcoming, helpful and generous. They did everything to make our 3 night stay just perfect. Breakfast was great. Evening meal ticked the box after a long day out. They organised a tuk tuk to Polonnaruwa due the day. An early morning tuk tuk to Sigiriya Rock and collected us. A safari in the afternoon where we saw so many elephants and a driver to take us to Kandy via Dambulla caves.

There were a few bugs in our room due to the location but that can't be helped.

The location was perfect, walking distance to lions rock and a short tuk tuk to Pidurangala rock. The staff were so helpful and kind. Our room was a decent size and overlooked a lovely garden. The breakfast was great and the dinner we had there was delicious.

Nothing not to like.

The room is clean and comfortable, with a spacious bathroom. Great value for money. The town is walkable within 5-10 minutes, on the way into town look out for purple faced monkeys! The host was lovely and very smiley. We took advantage of the safari offered for 18,000 LKR (private jeep) at Eco Park (including entrance fee). Breakfast is lovely - tea, fried bread, jam, fresh fruit, pancakes! Thank you.

Very nice room with everything you need. You have AC, a very clean bathroom and a shower with hot water (not needed with the temperatures there). The location is amazing, near to very delicious restaurants and the touristic attractions. The places restaurants itself was one of the best we tried in Sigiriya, they have amazing coffee and Sri Lankan food. Shen literally organizes you everything you need, just ask him, he’s extremely kind and lovely, just as his sister! They have bicycles to rent which is a very funny way to get to the rocks, even though a sweaty one (35 degrees in the morning can be quite challenging on a 3km trip). Lovely staff, lovely owner, all in all highly recommendable!

Everything was perfect and clean. Location, host, increadible food I will think about for a very long time, delicious breakfast. We could rent a bike here and explore the vilage. Hosts are very friendly and helpful. I can only recommend. So far the best stay in Sri Lanka we had!

Located away from the busy main road in a little bit of paradise, this place is a lovely escape. Clean and functional, there is warm water, a comfortable bed and much needed air conditioning. Shen and his family made delicious breakfast and dinner, and offered lots of help in organising local things to do. I recommend renting a bike and exploring the local villages and farms.

Beautiful garden. Sitting area in front of your room to enjoy the garden. Excellent hosts, Shen and his sister Hansi would go the extra mile to take care of your needs and wishes. We were craving for some fried fish, Hansi made arrangements to have them for us; although it was not on the menu. It was excellent that we had fish again the next night. The chicken curry was also excellent and the sambol as well. We really enjoyed the four nights stay at Shen. You can walk to the Sigiriya or Pidurangala rocks from Shen Residence if so choose. We would recommend to stay here when visiting the area.

Hello everyone! We always read the booking reviews to decide where to stay and this was a great choice. I mean, the residence is managed by Shen and his sister. They both are very nice, helpful and kind. The accommodation is cozy, pretty and clean. Also the breakfest was nice. And its close to Lion rock. We do very recommend! Thank you Shen!
