We loved this place ! The location was so good, close to the Lion Rock ! The host helped us a lot with tuktuk, a lot of goods informations ! He succeded to book a tour for Lori’s by night and with a very good price ! I recommand this place, our journey was so amazing ! Thanks !

The shower was not great - only a bit of water coming out.

The host was super friendly and helpful. When we had to change the dates, he was very accomplished. Delicious breakfast and he made us Kottu for dinner one evening as well.

Only for those who had the non A/C room, it was unfortunately quite rustic while the temperature at night can still be high. Since we only stayed for one night it was ok

The location is very special with a view to the Lion's rock of Sigiriya. We took 3 rooms by the beautiful garden. Unfortunately only two of them had A/C and were recently refurbished which was a great added value. The owners speak English, they are very adorable, friendly and helping. We were very happy and thankful to exchange with you and get help for driving from place to place. The service is impeccable and we will never forget it.

We loved our stay at rock gate resort. The rooms were nice and clean and the view on the lion rock from the garden is beautiful, but what really made our experience great in Sigiriya were the host and his family. He offered his tuktuk to drive us around and arranged an amazing lunch and breakfast. In general he was very helpful! We are very grateful to have stayed here and would recommend it to everyone!

UG.and his family are so lovely. Nothing was too much trouble. We had delicious food every evening and he helped plan trips (including elephant safari where we saw loads of elephants). The setting is really great and you can see the rock from the garden. The rooms are clean and well presented. In all the whole stay was a wonderful experience where you really feel part of Sri Lankan life. Definitely visit!

UG and his family are amazing hosts, they cannot do enough for you , we had dinner there 2 nights , first night was fried rice , next night a curry feast.UG has a tuk tuk and we had him drive us to our next stay, he’s a steady driver. The stay is walking distance to the entrance of Lion Rock. UG organised a local safari driver and we saw over 25 elephants close up in the local reserve, it cost $65 for 2 and we had the truck to ourselves. The accommodation is home stay level and has a fan and hot shower. The breakfast is pancakes and roti and fruit, in the evening UG sat we us and told us so much about Sri Lanka and it’s culture and social issues. A great host who is a kind considerate man. I would definitely recommend the place and stay there again

The owners are an incredibly sweet family that will help you with everything you need. The location is also amazing, you have a direct view on the rock. The surroundings are super cool and if you get lucky, you might even see a wild elephant in the backyard. Amazing place, would recommend to everyone!

We had an wonderful experience! If you like being surrounded by nature with a wonderful view of Lion’s Rock…this is definitely the place! The host is super nice, he picked us up from the bus stop and he arranged a tuk tuk for the early morning after to drop us at the entrance of Pidurangala. The food was delicious, cooked with the vegetable and fruits from the garden. During the day the room can be quite humid but at night we managed to sleep with the windows open and the fan. Totally recommended if you want to spend 1 or 2 night around Sigiriya area!! :)

Amazing place with wonderful owners. They welcome you with fresh juice made from own garden fruits. I ve got tree house for additional payment and there is shale beside with spectacular view in Sigiriya mountain. Bed was with good mattress. He took me and showed the places beside and next day also. Very kind, easy going family with wonderful childrens. I was happy.

The room was really humid but we could sleep well thanks to the air conditioner. The hot water wasn’t working in our room, but they show us another room to shower.

The family owning the guest house were wonderful! Really nice people, they helped us with everything we needed. They even lent us their own bikes to go for a ride! The location is perfect, in the middle of the jungle and just 15 minuts away by walk from Lion’s Rock entrance, and 35 minuts away by walk from Pidurungana entrance. Breakfast was delicious!

If you're not comfortable with wildlife then you might not like the treehouse as there are no actual windows! I had absolutely no problems however and slept like a dream.

Rock Gate Resort is lovely, run by the most warm family and in a fantastic location. I stayed in both one of the simple doubles and in the tree house, ofcourse the tree house was my favourite! Really something special with such attention to detail in the build. I was slightly concerned about the bugs (mosquitoes) but I didn't have any problem atall (I did use alot of citronella oil!). I slept perfectly and it was a joy to wake up in the jungle with a view of Sigiriya! There was a pretty good hot water shower, and breakfast and dinner were delicious. The family helped me to organise my trips up Pidurangala and Sigiriya and even showed me around the nearby lake. One of my favourite things was the free use of a bicycle, which is perfect for getting around the village and to Sigiriya. I would definitely recommend Rock Gate Resort and the tree house if you want some special rustic glam!
