Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.

When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

JapanOwning and running a hotel comes with a lot of work, but at the so called “Star Rest” they’re definitely slacking on this part. And it’s easy to blame the staff, this is the managements responsibility to take care of these issues. There’s nothing to be proud of it “you should see the rooms” when it’s not much better than a filthy brothel. Sri Lanka is a nice country with great hospitality, I’ve been all over SL and for nearly two month. I’ve been to places for $10 a night that we’re spotless clean, I thought I stay away from others in Killinochchi after reading some reviews and thought I treat myself for a better hotel. Little did I know that this place was highly overpriced with $38 a night (in Malaysia or Thailand you will get a extremely clean place with designer furniture and chilled drinks in the refrigerator, even in Japan you find a clean, but small hotel room for that price) But at the Star Rest - Staff is NOT wearing masks - a bathroom that hasn’t been cleaned in a while and reeks like a train station toilet including a whole family of Mosquitos and some flies for free - A bed with torn sheets and blood spots, didn’t look like bedbugs, but who knows? - Hair and dust in corners of the room - a dirty refrigerator - Dusty outdated furniture - A desk chair with many stains - Dirty cups for your tea and coffee - And to top it, they delivered a cold breakfast to my room in the morning I’ve seen other Sri Lankan hotels that reply to reviews “you must be mistaken our hotel for some other place” but how should folks even give a review if they never stated there ;) I stayed in Room 101, it was $38 a night (including breakfast) and that’s also a lot of money for us “so rich foreigners” just imagine how disappointed a Sri Lankan might be for paying a weeks salary just to stay in a nice hotel for a night. There’s some potential do something about it, it’s very simple, you just need to clean it…
Star Rest only receives 3 points, and that’s actually already too much, because of the following, other than that do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else… - Bicycle in the room - WiFi sorted - Restaurant food was good
