Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IrelandWe only got 1 small single sheet between 2 people, by the time we realised it was too late to request a double sheet so it was a chilly night. The mosquito net hung from the centre of the ceiling was on top of us all night so wasn't very comfortable.
Staff were amazing and so helpful. We availed of the private transport to and from the location and it saved us a lot of time traveling. The room was spacious and spotless and smelt amazing. Breakfast was right outside our room and was really good and plentiful.

United KingdomOur experience here was excellent. The family are really friendly, the rooms are big and clean and the included breakfast was delicious and a really good size. The location is a short walk to sigiriya rock and there are plenty of restaurants nearby. The surrounding area was very peaceful with plenty of plants and bird song.

United KingdomAbsolutely nothing it's an extremely pleasant hotel.
Harini Villa is the nicest, family run, hotel that we've stay at in Sri Lanka. It's spotlessly clean and very, very well maintained both inside and out. The room is very well appointed and freshily decorated with not the slightest bit of mold or mildew. The bed is very comfortable with nice soft pillows, the air conditioning is good and the shower works well with plenty of hot water and the shower area is large enough not to wet the whole bathroom. The inclusive breakfast is a delight, taken sitting at your own table on the shaded terrace outside your room overlooking the neat and tidy garden. A full Sri Lankan breakfast is served with hardboiled egg, string hoppers, lentil curry, coconut sambol, a selection of fruit, a small bottle of still water and coffee or tea. To make a change our second breakfast consisted of pancakes, omelets, bread and butter, coconut oat cakes with banana slices, fruit etc. The owner of the hotel and his family are very pleasant and extremely helpful and looked after us well.

AustraliaMy stay was too short
I've just had the most amazing 3 day stay at the family run Harini Villa. It's situated a 5 min walk from the main Junction bus stop & restaurants & it's lovely & peaceful. The room itself was perfect & spotless with a lovely patio area at the front where I had an amazing breakfast while watching the birds & monkeys. Breakfast was made & served by Dinu & it was delicious. Dinu took care to accommodate my request for gluten free food which I'm very grateful for. She also introduced me to a new dish each day (in addition to what else I was served). I had lovely chats with Wicky the owner, he was very attentive & made sure I had everything I needed & was comfortable. Pathum took me on a trip to Polonnaruwa & was a safe & efficient driver & he also made a suggestion to add in a trip to the Spice garden on the way back, which was very enjoyable. All up I would highly recommend staying at Harini - the beautiful & kind family will look after you. I hope that one day I will be able to stay here again - thankyou so much for looking after me!

Sri LankaWe really enjoyed our stay at Harini Villa. We visited many places in Sigiriya but this was the best place we finally found. Their rooms and surroundings are very clean and attractive. The owner and family are very friendly and kind. They treated us very kindly. Their breakfast is also very delicious. They took us on an elephant safari in their jeep. It's very entertaining. I saw more than 80 elephants there. We were very happy there. They also took us to see Polonnaru ancient city and Dambulla golden temple. It is very important for our trip. We can recommend this place to anyone else without hesitation. If we come back to Sri Lanka, I will definitely come to your place.

PolandAll was perfect!
After three weeks in Sri Lanka this was by far the best accomodation we had. Friendly, polite and helpful owners with good english. Spotless room. Fresh bed linens and towels. No mold anywhere. Warm shower. Nice quite garden and veranda. Great food. And all that for an afordable price. We recommend the accomodation both for a short visit to Sigiriya (it is a walking distance from the Lion Rock) as well as for a longer stay (we stayed 4 days visiting Sigiryia, Polonnaruva and Dambula) to rest after (or before) more demanding parts of the country.

ItalyThe room is very simple, but you get what you paid for. It's also pretty humid but that is in all Sri Lanka so... 😀
The man who runs the place and his daughter are very kind and nice. They help us arrange everything we wanted to do - trip to Polonnaruwa ancient city, Dambulla Cave temples, Pidurangala at sunrise and drive us to Kandy. The place is at walking distance from Sigiriya Lion's Rock and some nice restaurant. Recommended.
