How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

The owner is friendly and helpful, but food, which is promised in the description of the place (5$ each), was not offered.
Since Ratnapura is a very busy city (loud and smelly), it,s nice to be in a quiet place away from the bustle of the town. Summer Ridge is a 12 minute walk away from a main street up on a green hill among tropical vegetation and fantastic birds. It,s nice and quiet. If you have a choice, take the room with the balcony.

No AC in the room, no hot water in the shower
It was among the families property , had a cozy , homey flare. Shehan , and his parents were great hosts and hostesse. Gave honest advice on where to go and what to buy. Despite not having AC in the room, and not having hot water in the shower and sharing the sanitaires with other rooms the entire place was spotless. Simple but good breakfast. For strong coffee drinkers ( bring your own instant coffee)! We will definitely come back . Thank you for your warm hospitality

Guest go above and beyond for the guests! Entire family is very helpful and supportive! The homestay is very clean and comfortable. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place for your stay in Rathnapura!

None, everything was perfect
It is the best homestay I’ve been to in Sri Lanka. The family was great, nice and helpful. The room was big, very clean and they provided everything I need. Wifi was also good. And I had a really good Sri Lankan breakfast. I truly recommend to come here and meet this excellent family!

We couldn't seem to get any hot water in the bathroom, but no big deal in the hot Sri Lankan climate.
Asoka and his family were incredibly accommodating hosts in a beautiful and centrally located home. No request was too big for Asoka, who brought our bags around to the other side of Sripadaya to accommodate our one-way climb from the Ratnapura side to Hatton side, then spent the day with us driving to tea plantations that held great family significance for my wife en route to Nuwara Eliya. On top of this, Asoka arranged a fantastic gem mine tour of an operating mine during our stay. Asoka and his family (puppy included!) were gracious and friendly, and made us feel very much at home during our stay. Look no further for a place to stay in Ratnapura!

Marvellous location at the edge of a forest reserve with lots of biodiversity Quiet location in a largely pedestrian neighbourhood Host family made our stay memorable, this was the loveliest host family in Sri Lanka, our kids were so happy to play with the "big kids". The owner made sure our activities went smoothly, he took us around in his car. The porch area & massive trees in the garden provide enough shade to relax under the blistering heat.

The room had no mosquito net and no A/C was available either. So the choice was between leaving the windows open and getting bitten by mosquitos or keeping it closed and boiling in the hot room.
We only stayed for one night, but we had a really nice stay at Summer Ridge. The family is super friendly and we've enjoyed some good conversations. The room and bathroom were very clean and because the house is located in a cul de sac it was nice and quiet.

Nothing. Everything was perfect!
During our 3 week travel in Sri Lanka hosts here were the most friendly people we met! Shehan and his father organised a super interesting visit in a gem mine and gem polishing workshop for us. In both of those places we met very genuine people. Shehan’s mum prepared the best ginger tea for us and we had an engaging conversation about life in Sri Lanka. The location of the place itself is great too - on top of a hill, surrounded by greenery and 15 minutes walk from the city centre. The room was spotless clean and we got the whitest and cleanest towels so far :-) Thank you so much for your hospitality!

everything! Shehan and his parents are very welcoming family. We had an amazing staying at the home, the room was clean, quiet and cozy. Dinner , breakfast and lunch were also perfect. by the way Shehan speaks an excellent English, he helped us to get to mining gems farm and translated everything about this business worker told
