Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

KazakhstanOnly down side was that the water pressure was low but Doable :)
The location was really close to the Lions rock, bed was comfortable. People working were really nice and tried informing you as Good as possible, 24hr reception. It is a small business so if you want to support Sri Lanka support a small business. Also Nice Street with Nice cafés everything in walking distance.

FranceEverything was good.
The welcome at Sunshine Resort & Spa Sigiriya was excellent. We arrived around 1 p.m. The rooms, however, are ready only from 2 p.m., but there was no issue with leaving our luggage while we went to visit Lion's Rock and returned afterward. The entrance for the Lion's Rock road is about 10 minutes away. Count an additional 15-20 minutes on foot to reach the ticket purchase for Lion's Rock entrance. Of course, you can take a tuk-tuk instead of walking. The rooms have everything necessary, nothing to complain about. The next day, we talked about the elephant safari to the receptionist, and he offered to call a "tour" that is nearby, I think, to be able to do it. There are 3 national parks where you can see the elephants, and they know where there are the most at the moment. So, we went to Huluru and saw a lot of elephants. The best part was that the jeep picked us up at the hotel, we went to the botanic garden for free, and then headed to the safari. Once the safari was over, the jeep took us directly to our new hotel in Dambulla. The cost was 15,000 LKR for the jeep/guide and 5,000 LKR for the entrance for 2 people. Additionally, the breakfast was very generous and good.

IndiaWe stayed for 2 nights in this property and had a great stay. Specially we would like to mention the service of Mr.Thas and the food quality, Mr.Thas helped us throughout our stay and took care of all our needs very nicely. Food quality is also amazing, especially the Sri Lankan rice curry and srilankan string hoppers, puttu and fish curry. Location of the stay is also very near to the lion rock and pidurangala rock. Thanks Mr.Thas for the amazing service.

SpainThe place was very dirty, the sheets and pillows were all with stains.
It was close to the Sigiriya rock but unfortunately it was raining and this has nothing to do with the place as its nature! The staff were very friendly and went out of their way to please the guests.

United StatesWhen we arrived our top sheet on the bed was very damp, had to ask them to change. Also, we booked our safari and outings with another company and not through the hotel, and they called the company asking for commission, we thought that that was uncool. It is NOT a spa. There are no spa amenities on the premises.
Great location!! Near to everything. And the mattress was very comfortable. Loved the room size, spacious. Shower had good pressure and hot water, A/C. Staff seemed nice.

Manoj and his team were so welcoming and helpful, and the breakfasts were delicious. Rooms were a good size and the showers were hot. The guesthouse is in a great location, and is very close to cafes and shops in Sigiriya (3 mins). Walking to the ticket counter for Sigiriya took 20 mins max. The rooms were close to paddy fields and there were so many birds to spot. A really nice place to spend 2 nights.

AustraliaI felt it was overpriced for the room condition. Don't get me wrong it's a lovely bungalow style BUT no water pressure in shower or hot water . I had big discount on booking and no way would I be happy paying what was supposed to be full price . Once again as in most hotels no toilet paper , water or coffee supplied .
Very helpful staff , one in particular was fabulous worker .beautiful grounds with monkeys out front , elephant apparently visited the rice fields in rear garden one night .excessive breakfast of toast , eggs , coffee , tea , juice , fruit , pastries , jam etc 😂 . Close to restaurants etc . Helped book safari very short notice.
