There were some very steep steps to our room. This was the only thing that I did not like.

The place is super-cool. Once you entered the garden you feel that you are in a botanical garden. The vegetation is stunning. Then, the design of the entire place is amazing. Our room was very spacious, clean, fresh, comfy. The place is very quiet. The attention to every detail and the commitment to develop something in harmony with the surroundings are the things that really impressed me.

It is expensive relatively to other places, not all rooms have AC and because of all the plants around there are a lot of mosquitoes and bugs, not necessarily a bad thing but it’s not very comfortable

I have tried the surf classes recommended by the hotel and wasn’t amazed. It is not a minus, but only something we didn’t pay attention before booking the hotel doesn’t have pool.

Very nice location right at the heart of Arugam Bay. The rooms are big and comfortable and the hotel has a exotic vibe right at the heart of the city.

It gets very hot, so go for a room with air conditioning if you prefer! Can be a little noisy due to the central location but still lovely.

Amazing cabanas set in beautiful tropical gardens, a little oasis just off Arugam Bay high street. We had a meal in the garden and it was the most authentic food we’d had in Sri Lanka! Staff were very friendly and helpful.

The maintenance of the rooms and property is bad, no cleaning so the place and rooms are not so clean. Breakfast is local food and no variety all..

STAY AWAY FROM Surf N’ Sun Hotel !! In short- the owner was aggressive and verbally abusive towards us and almost physically (trembling, shouting, and getting inches away from us) after we complained about having no hot water in the shower for 2 days. In addition, the place is really not worth the price - bad infrastructure, constant construction noises throughout the day, bad breakfast and disrespectful and aggressive attitude for their guests. In detail- We specifically looked for a high quality room with a bathtub, hot water, and air conditioning. At first, it seemed fine, but as soon as we arrived, we heard ongoing renovations from morning till evening, and they refused to move us to a farther room without an additional payment. Later, we found only cold water in the shower, and we were told the heater broke and the only solution was to move to another room where the air conditioning wasn't working properly (We went to check the room and their staff were sleeping in it). When we refused to sleeping with no AC, they offered us complimentary breakfast instead and say it will be fixed, but on the next day- still no hot water. They were quite dismissive and indifferent. The next day we asked to talk to the owners. We told him their solution wasn't reasonable considering the price we paid. Despite everything being said calmly and politely, he started shouting at us about our complaints. He was very intimidating, and when we told him there was no reason to shout at guests, especially when we didn't do anything, he raised his voice further, shouting that "he's the owner of the place and he'll do whatever he wants", started making threatening body gestures, so we backed off and went to the room to calm down and think. When we came out, he was waiting outside and asked to talk to my boyfriend alone.

It was super loud. Noise was coming not just from the bars and restaurants around it, but the hotel itself blasted loud music well into the night. Made sleeping there quite an ordeal. I don’t recommend if you want a good nights sleep. Also waay overpriced, like 4 times as much as for comparable accommodations that are much more peaceful and closer to the beach.
