How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

We had to keep the boards inside the room at night, but we really didn’t mind since there’s plenty of space.
We felt like we were home. The room was spacious and clean with a comfortable bed and perfect AC. We could have breakfast (I really suggest it) in the cozy garden in front of the room, where we could also safely park our scooter. It’s also located just 2 minutes walking distance from Coconut Beach. Couldn’t suggest this more.

it’s a shame I didn’t find this place earlier, i would have stayed longer!
genuinely kind and welcoming family, spacious and clean room, airconditioning and wifi impeccable. location is close by a beautiful beach, wonderful for sunset or morning stroll!

It is called surf orchid so I was expecting an easy accessible outside shower to clean the board and feet as well as a surf rack, although this is not an absolute necessity
The family is super nice. The room is comfortable and clean. Came for 2 days and ended up staying a week.

Nothing. Not sure how the last guest have a bad review. we staying at the same time as them and it was perfect for us. So would definitely recommend.
location is great, walking distance to a nice beach. Room was big and clean, Aircon was brilliant. Tables and chairs to sit outside. The host were the nicest we’ve come across in Sri Lanka and we’ve been here for a few months. They were always there to help and they offer to clean the rooms and make breakfast. There’s also a shop that they own next door.

A child of the host walked into my room as I was unpacking and quickly closed it when he saw me. Also wasn’t aware to go to the shop next door to check-in

We had a very comfortable stay here. The room is nicely furnished and very clean. 3 minute walk from the beach and nice restaurants, yet on a quiet street. Strongly recommend!

Nice staff, very welcoming, and let me use the kitchen if I needed. The room was great (I’ve stayed in the middle and got a mini fridge in my room :) ) location is good, close to everything.

As I said everything for perfect for my stay. If you're a person who plans to stay a lot of time in hotel, then maybe it's not a place for you as their is not much space to hangout with other people, but you got wonderful beach walking distance.
Everything was perfect. The room is big, the bed is comfortable and AC is strong and new. The location is perfect, you can reach the major beach easily within 10-20 mins by bike. I wised I could have stay more.

The room was ok, nothing outstanding but with all the basics. I think you get what you pay for, considering you are so close to the beach and in a pretty popular area. The main thing for me was the lack of natural light in the room, but this is pretty common in Sri Lanka in budget accomodations and we were anyway almost always outside.
The location is perfect. Walking distance from many beautiful beaches (jungle beach, ahangama, midigama are all 15-25 mins walk) and 2 mins from Coconut beach where you can enjoy a beautiful sunset with music from the little beach shops (they also offer free sunbeds if you buy a - cheap- drink! so i loved to go there in the late afternoon). The family is very smiley and welcoming, even though they speak very little english so sometimes it is difficult to communicate. The daughter can help most of the time though :) The hot water and wifi always worked perfectly.

The accommodation is perfect in terms of facilities and location. The family was very friendly and helpful. The daughter speaks English very well, which helps in terms of communication. I felt very comfortable during my stay. Would definitely come again. The only note that I would have is a kettle in the room.

Nice clean rooms with good bed and good AC. Very friendly and helpfull family running the villa. Perfect location just a very short walk to the beach and surfspot Coconuts. Would defenitely stay here again!

Room was the nicest we had in Sri Lanka, lots of space, clean and cozy. Breakfasts are good, eggs, fruits, couple times we had even local breakfast. Only three rooms, so you will have your privacy. Family managing this place is lovely, english level can be tricky, but you can communicate with them, just be prepared a bit to talk easy with them, they are very nice and will help you everytime they can, they even run a small shop so you have in the matter of steps water, snacks, sodas and so. The greatest thing is really the neighborhood, centered in calm street with another homestays and restaurants - you wont suffer with hunger - and Coconut beach is lovely place with very good access to the ocean and it is not crowdy at all! Bus station is one or two minutes from there, you can get to Weligama, Matara, Mirissa, Galle... We spent three weeks here and cannot complain about anything!

The room without AC is quite hot.
The room was clean and quite spacious. The owners were super friendly. The beach is in walking distance. WiFi was good. The price quality ratio is really good.
