Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThis is a stunningly beautiful property with amazing furnishings and artwork. After a busy day, it’s like coming home to a peaceful oasis. The food is absolutely amazing; you can choose traditional Sri Lankan dishes or a la cart and every dish was presented beautifully and tasted divine. The rooms are spacious, clean and use quality linens. The staff go above and beyond to make your stay comfortable. They are so friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. It is all the little touches that make it so special like the lighting at night, the peaceful music and the way you are greeted and made to feel at home.

United KingdomOne thing we didn’t like that some of the employees are not polite there eyes are everywhere, we weren’t comfortable eating, or hanging around because they were all over the place and giving looks, they need more training, although they are nice and helpful.
We liked everything.. from the rooms to the food, we didn’t expect to find such a beautiful place in Kandy ,

AustraliaWe had an absolutely delightful end to our Sri Lankan Honeymoon at Taru Villas Kandy. The building is steeped in colonial history and opulence coupled with all the modern luxury's needed for an extremely comfortable and relaxing stay. The beautiful staff always waiting around the corners to accomodate every one of your need's, around the villa and also around Kandy city. As we arrived we saw a sign on a van saying “Come as a Guest, Leave as a friend” we cannot think of a better comment to sum up our beautiful stay. My Wife and I cannot recommend a better place to stay while in Kandy

Our first night in Sri Lanka was spent at Taru Villas in Kandy, a beautiful boutique hotel nestled in the heart of the city. This hidden gem, surrounded by busy streets, offered a unique sense of beauty and privacy within its confines. The hotel staff left a lasting impression with their exceptional service, being quick and responsive to our needs. The rooms were not only clean but also spacious, providing a comfortable retreat. However, the true highlight was the food. Both breakfast and dinner were exceptional, featuring some of the best chicken and ice cream dishes we've ever tasted. The chefs at Taru Villas truly outdid themselves, adding a memorable culinary experience to our stay. In conclusion, our overall experience was exceptional, and I wholeheartedly recommend Taru Villas to anyone visiting Kandy. It's a perfect blend of tranquility in the midst of a bustling city, coupled with outstanding service and culinary delights that leave a lasting impression!

United KingdomThe villa can be noisy being just off the main road into Kandy. There is also a railway line behind the property but this was not a problem. This is quite a new hotel and some of the staff seemed inexperienced
The villa had a lovely atmosphere and was very comfortable and we liked the places to sit all around the villa.

United KingdomAbsolutely Amazing stay at Taru Villas. We were on put honeymoon and the place couldn't have been better. We couldn't believe this place was nestled right in the city but with a lovely private feel. The garden and pool are fantastic. The hotel and decor is to an extremely high Standard. AustriaOur room was written up as one with views of garden or pool. What we got when we arrived was a tiny room squeezed between railwaytracks and the hotel driveway. Cannot open curtains. Dark. Photos of room on booking.com are a mix of other rooms, nothing like ours. Ceiling is so thin (wood), it transmits all sounds and footsteps of people from above us. Cannot sleep. Hotel is on a very small piece of land squeezed between the major road into Kandy in front and a railway line behind. Not sure how other reviews can be trusted when they call this an oasis in Kandy. Trucks, buses, cars and motorbikes roar past honking their horns at each other, trains rattle through- Taru Villas must have been desperate to have a property in Kandy to have picked this one. This is our third visit to Kandy and by far the worst choice of hotel. For 312 dollars a night, this is a rip off. Staff are everywhere, but service is poor. We had no internet when we arrived. Nobody had realized. By the pool no one ever comes to offer a drink or menu. The boys sit or stand around in groups having a good time, never mind the guests (maybe you should employ a few ladies for a change in attitude). At 6pm we were asked when we wanted to eat dinner. 7pm was agreed. By 7.45pm we still only had a basket of soft buns in front of us despite having had dinner pre ordered. The staff were tripping over themselves seemingly busy running around, but no service. I am not sure who is in charge of whom here, but this 'hotel' needs a lot more training and direction from someone who understands the business. The food, when it finally came was good, but with it came 3 musicians with guitar, drum and accordeon. They drowned out the street noise with kitsch songs from the 1960s. Please Taru Villas, install a sound system and play music in the background fitting a hotel you aim to be. I felt like being on a mass tourism cruise liner in the 70s with tunes of 'la paloma blanca' and the like ruining dinner.
The picture of the hotel looks nice. The food was good and service staff Chalake - he was the only bright light...
