Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaCouldn’t have a hot shower which when you are paying +$500 USD per night shouldn’t happen - it was either burning hot temporarily then cold or just cold, throughout our stay. We also thought we were booking a 3br place but it’s actually 3 separate units which you access each by going outside which for us meant we only used 1 br because we had young kids and had to have them sleeping on makeshift beds in with us. Still some finishing work to be done post renovations - mostly outside - landscaping etc.
Staff were incredible! Warm, kind and eager to please. They really made us feel welcome! Food was delicious and fairly priced for what they serve. Loved the guided walk around the property.

AustraliaNothing we didn't like really - a few small things (that didn't affect our stay) -Bring an eye mask as the beautiful floor to ceiling windows means it is very bright from very early in the morning. There was a bit of construction noise from very early too but wasn't too intrusive. Would be good to put some fly screens on the windows that open as would be lovely to be able to leave the windows open overnight to get some breeze through therefore placing less pressure on the AC, there were too many mosquitos around for us to do this. Would be nice to have some Sri Lankan art in the room to give it a more local feel rather than the generic Ikea prints of other cities. The only other thing I can think of would be to use reusable metal straws for drinks rather than plastic (lots of places we went in Sri Lanka are doing this now which was great to see) but overall the property is good at avoiding plastic waste - refillable filtered water jug, refillable shampoo/shower gel in bathroom. Also would have been great to have a little table and chairs outside right next to the pool as is so lovely sitting by the pool having a drink.
We had a beautiful stay - feels like a luxury resort but much more personal. The property is beautiful and the pool is perfect - it's pretty rare to have such a big private pool. You have the whole place to yourselves, rooms are huge and light and airy with stunning views over the tea plants and the valley. We spent a whole day just lounging around enjoying the pool and the views couldn't bring ourselves to leave as it was so relaxing. The botanical gardens are nearby and are worth a visit. Sanjaya and the staff are so helpful and thoughtful and went out of their way to make us comfortable including arranging transportation for us when we had to get back to Colombo. Wonderful ambassadors for their establishment and their country. Showed us all the interesting plants and spices on the property and surrounds. Meals are served on a little deck and were some of the best food we ate in Sri Lanka and plenty of it - would definitely recommend booking all meals also (we hadn't in advance other than the included breakfast but they kindly accommodated us anyway).

We absolutely loved tea heights, the suit was stunning, so spacious, peaceful and full of beautiful views from the floor to ceiling windows throughout, stunning! The food was also exceptionally delicious, loved the transitional breakfasts and fresh fruits. RussiaThe air conditioner couldn't handle the strength of the midday sun. But that's the inevitable price to pay for fully glazed walls, I guess.
Magnificent panoramic view of the mountains around. A wonderful team that cares about nature and farm garden. And of course taking care of the guests.

ArmeniaThe last bit of the road to the villa is quite rocky. But in the evening we saw fireflies there, so we can't complain. Also staff offered to meet us in case our driver decides not to go further
We had an exceptionally relaxing, memorable and fascinating experience. Having a magnificent view of the entire surrounding area both right from the bed through the glass walls and also from the pool is incredible. Architecture of the building is exceptional. Even on a very sunny day there is some shade to hide in the pool, also there is a great small lawn area near the pool for your feet to relax. We had both breakfasts and dinners and they were all delicious, we tried some traditional Sri Lanka dishes. We also had an awesome tour around the plantation which had not only tea but also a lot of spices and exotic fruit, some of which we have never seen before. The owner Tilin showed us around, explained everything (we had lots of questions), picked some samples for us to sniff or chew to guess what it was. Staff was very attentive to all our needs, Sanjay and Palina both very helpful, can guide you into Lanka culture. We saw monkeys and a serpent eagle during our breakfasts. Wifi was fine, no power cuts during our stay either. Made a lot of pics for our friends to envy :)

CanadaThe fact that we only booked 1 night. I wish I had had the chance to talk more with the owner and his niece and tour his beautiful tea plantation.
We loved absolutely everything about this place! I really recommend it 100%! We were greated by the owner himself and his niece and they were so lovely. We felt at home right away. They invited us to eat with them, even though we arrived quite late. The meal was divine and prepare with a lot of love (many kinds of curries and rice). Breakfast was succulent as well! The villa is absolutely incredible (and huuuge) and is located high in the mountains and in the owner’s tea plantation (it does take a bit of time to get there from Kandy but it’s SO worth it!). The amazing pool is the biggest in Kandy (!!). Everything was top quality in the room/bathroom/salon and super clean. We will definitely be returning here when we go back to Kandy.

GermanyThe shower pressure was super low so that it was hard to even wash the hair. The A/C wasn’t working properly and had to be turned on using a generator. For that, we always had to ask the host to turn it on. For the price we payed, this should’ve been easier! A/C and showers worked perfectly fine in hotels where we payed a 10th of the price. Apart from these small things it was an amazing stay!
The Staff was absolutely amazing! the place was really nice and the views out of the house amazing. The host offered us a really amazing tour around his properties and the neighbouring farm where we learned a lot about Sri Lankan fruits and spices. Dinner and breakfast were also amazing. We really enjoyed our time at tea heights!

SwedenWe were looking for an “instagram compatible” stay. This was great but only a 9/10, definitely worth the price though. It was also quite far away from a bigger city and wifi was down due to power shortages (completely outside of their control though)
+ Brilliant hosts, went above and beyond + Best food we had during our trip + They even called around in the village and found a scooter we could rent! Truly exceptional service

United Arab EmiratesThe view and the experience is unavailable, if you would like to experience the real Sri Lanka this is the place were you should stay. You will have an entire villa for you with a private swimming pool, with a view you can only dream of. The food they provide its typical of the country, very delicious and so generous every time. But the most important part of this trip was the staff, such beautiful people, always very kind and polite. Hope we can come back very soon.
