The Albatross is a stunning property with beautiful, unobstructed views overlooking Victoria Dam. The room was clean and had everything we needed. The food was superb, we enjoyed authentic Sri Lankan dishes for dinner and lighter sandwiches and omelettes for breakfast and lunch - both were 10/10! The chef catered to my vegetarian diet which was highly appreciated. The hosts at the hotel were so kind and accommodating. We felt really well looked after and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

I encountered a few issues that affected my overall experience. Firstly, the limited breakfast options were somewhat disappointing. Additionally, I found the staff to be less than accommodating, which impacted the overall friendliness of the establishment. One significant concern was the inability to access the hotel after midnight, creating an inconvenience reminds of a student dormitory. The hotel's policy of closing the door at that hour seemed restrictive and detracted from the overall flexibility and convenience of the stay. Furthermore, the bicycle rental service left much to be desired. The poor quality of the bicycles and the unexpected double charge for their use were notable drawbacks. It was frustrating to be charged twice, especially considering we were initially assured that the timing of bicycle usage wouldn't be an issue. This inconsistency in policy added an unwelcome layer of inconvenience to the overall experience. When I approached them to change money, I was offered an unfavorable rate, which was disappointing. This aspect of the service further contributed to my overall dissatisfaction during the stay.

I had an exceptional stay at the hotel in Sri Lanka. The location was simply amazing, offering a serene and relaxed atmosphere. The hotel's quality was top-notch, providing me with the best sleep and stunning views during meals. The amenities, including a jacuzzi, sauna, and pool, contributed to the overall experience. The food was delicious, and the cleanliness and comfort of the accommodations were noteworthy. Additionally, the hotel had a pool table for enjoyable moments with my partner or friends. The separate bar with an English pub atmosphere added a special touch to the overall ambiance. The spacious outdoor areas, coupled with a large hall, big TV, and reliable WIFI, made the stay even more enjoyable. A bicycle trip around the golf field added a nice touch to the overall experience. I highly recommend this hotel for a memorable and comfortable stay.

Tea and coffee can definitely improve. Naans accompanying lunch/dinner should be skipped. Parathas are much better with curries and dhal.

Breakfast options are certainly limited but it's all made-to-order fresh and enjoyed it. They didn't serve any Sri Lankan breakfast option and that was a bit of a surprise. I like it simple and was happy with my omelets, freshly squeezed juices, fruits and toast with butter n jam.

The location is perfect for a getaway holiday. There is a golf course for people who wish to play a few rounds.

What's to dislike ?!

The breakfast was substantial and well prepared, as was dinner. The chef/kitchen went out of their way to provide tasty options for the vegetarians in our party and overall both the set menus as well as the "a la carte" fare that was on offer was very reasonably priced. The property grounds, swimming pool and other facilities were well maintained, the location brilliant, and views were magnificent. The surrounding streets/roads offered opportunities to walk and explore in truly lovely peaceful surroundings with a great ambiance. The quality of service and the speed of response by the staff was excellent. Definitely intend visiting again, if possible, with an even larger group.

The room we had did not have a view ... (it is near the jaccuzi but it was empty) and had a faint musty smell

The view is stunning. Chilling on the rerasse or by the pool while taking in all the surrounding greens is amzing... quiet and peaceful. The pool was clean and refreshing The place was sparkle clean Everyone was so nice and helpful

This is my 3rd time staying at this hotel and I will happily return again, because it is hard to beat the views and the food. Staff is super helpful and hospitable. The hotel is not the newest so some might feel it needs an update (maybe a little paint here and there); but we liked it the way it is as it has a character!

The most amazing view high above a beautiful golf course. The hotel is built into a very steep hillside (great view of Victoria Reservoir and the golf course); a lift operates well. The hotel is owned by a well connected sportsman and is full of his most interesting memorabilia. There is a half size Pool/ snooker table, a Jacuzzi hot tub, a steam room and a Sauna and a small swimming pool; all of which are unusual and welcome assets. Most people looking for accommodation in this area will be attracted by a superb golf course set in a forest with wonderful trees, well maintained greens and fairways and very helpful caddies.

The property is located on beautiful hilltop. The golf course is right on its footsteps, there isn't much more to do but if you a fan of doing nothing and just unwinding, this is the place to be.
