The Cottage is “at the end of the road” as they say, making it so very quiet and peaceful. A fabulous place to retreat and rest.

If breakfast could start a little earlier. We left at 8 but got some lovely fresh fruit for our journey.

Very friendly staff, very spacious and comfortable room. Enjoyed a beer by the pool and able to have dinner on site. Lovely atmosphere. It’s a bit far outside of the village but no problem with a driver.

It’s a little paradise to stay in Sigiriya. So quiet and the cottages are top notch, very big and beautiful. The staff was amazing as well!

No card payments, some hengers and reading lights would be useful. We are not sure if there is a need for mosquito net - in our time there was no problem with mosquitos.

Very quiet place, great pool to dive in after hot day, very friendly and helpful staff, aircondition, big enough cottage and nice porch to sit in the evening. Only few cottages, so no crowd. Great care of surrounding in the resort. It is remote, which is nice, but you do need transport to different restaurants, shops and attractions. Decent food and drinks provided by resort.

It's at the end of a 'jungle road' so it's a little trouble getting there by car. With tuktuk it's ok!

Best place to relax after some busy days! The place is so quiet and relaxing! The people do everything possible to help you and make your stay better! Rooms are big, clean, have airco and a nice bathroom.

If you’re scared of lizards and frogs, there will be plenty of those, but it’s to be expected in such location. No issue on our side. Location is a bit far from the town, but tuk tuks are available.

Beautiful location in the middle of nature, pool was a big plus and it gets super hot and humid during the day.

The main issue was the WiFi. It was poor with very low speeds and low signal strength. The other issues were minor ones, such as the air conditioning being a bit difficult to control (too strong or too weak). A hairdryer in the room would be a nice, small addition. The location is beautiful and quite convenient for Sigiriya but the last 5 or 6 minutes of the drive leading to the hotel is a narrow, bumpy gravel road which is not good for cars (no issues for tuk tuks, motorbikes or 4WD vehicles).

Great staff who were very helpful, approachable and knowledgeable about the area. They were very friendly and made us feel welcome. The bed was very comfortable and the room was spacious. The grounds and the surroundings are beautiful and the pool is lovely. Fantastic Sri Lankan breakfast!

Nothing, our stay was perfect. We can also see that the hotel reads these reviews and uses them to improve. For example, sunbeds now have comfortable mats.

On a month long trip to Sri Lanka, filled with beautiful places and accommodations - the Cottage holds a special place in my heart. We spent two amazing days here, and later in our trip we decided to go back for 5 more. From the kindness of the staff, the excellent hospitality, the pool that was somehow always the right temperature, the location in nature and all of the life that surrounds it - we had a perfect stay. The gentleman that cares for the plants, pool and grounds works all day making sure the place looks great and the pool is always clean. The chef makes great food, and the Sri Lankan breakfast was excellent. The location is a short bike ride from town, or if you have your own tuktuk as we did it’s about a 5 minute ride. It’s in the midst of the jungle. In our days there we had encounters with every type of bird in Sri Lanka. Monkeys of all varieties. Even Elephants. The near by lake, which you will drive by the signed path to, is a must at sunrise. Walking further down the road into the farmers fields (stay on the road, don’t walk on their crops) will yield incredible sunsets with peacocks calling in the background and a clear view of lions rock. Bungalows are simple, clean and comfortable. The staff went out of their way to ensure we had a great experience. We will most certainly return here in the future and highly recommend it to others. There is more to see in Sigiriya than you think, and a couple of days at the cottage is a great base to explore and relax. Mama, the local dog running around is very sweet. If you’re a dog loving traveler as I am - take care of her and show her some love. She’ll keep the monkeys off your tuktuk 😉

Umm nothing really. The ants I guess? And the bathroom was designed so that the water kinda gets everywhere when u shower, but that’s it really. Everything else was amazing.

Honestly this hotel was where I was at most peaceful, I think people don’t know about it much so it feels like it’s just you in the jungle. Which is exactly what I prefer. The pool was very clean. There were a few ants in the room but honestly we are in the middle of a jungle so there’s bound to be a few ants anyway. The staff is extremely extremely hospitable. They do not try to cheat you in anyway (mentioning cuz the other hotel I stayed at did). But the staff at Cottage Sigiriya was the best. Do not think twice definitely book this place.

They don't accept card payments and they haven't mentioned it anywhere. And no WiFi and poor signal coverage no signal boosters installed.

Had good customer service and was provided bicycles to travel to sigiriya food was good and price was reasonable.

The only thing we missed were some comfortable toppers for the pool beds, the wooden chairs are quite uncomfortable after a while. Only cash payments available.

Lovely small resort with 5 cottages, restaurant and pool area. Quiet location in a jungle feeling. Very kind and helpful staff, assisting in arranging transportation or anything else you may need. Free bikes to rent. A 10 min Tuktuk ride to the “city center” will cost about 1000 Rs. Breakfast was either Sri Lankan (curry, grasshoppers, roti) or western (toast, scrambled eggs and jam).

Nothing, we had a perfect stay!

We had a lovely stay here! It's a bit out of the centre of Sigiriya so it's really quiet. The rooms are spacious and the staff was amazing. They organised the tuktuk for us to go see the sunrise at Sigiriya Rock. Breakfast was great!

Mattresses for the sun-beds would be a bonus

Perfect place to begin our Sri Lankan holiday. We stayed two nights but wish we’d booked a third night. The staff are all so friendly and accommodating, nothing is too much trouble. Food was delicious and freshly prepared. The accommodation was clean, spacious and comfortable and the pool area was perfect for relaxing after early starts climbing Lions Rock and Pidurangla Rock. The location is slightly out of the main town but it suited us perfectly and we were surrounded by nature. We also made use of the complimentary bicycles to cycle into the village a couple of times. Thank you to everyone at The Cottages for a fabulous start to our holiday.
