How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

The school next door is noisy in the morning.

Apartment was new when we stayed there and a bit empty and not well equipped. But owner makes his best to finish furnishings and filling with little things needed.
New spacious apartments with wonderful view on Kandy lake. Close to many attractions and shopping areas. As good for friends company, so for big families.

Requires more towels, tea, towels, cutlery, Wine, glasses, spare bath mats, and also blackout curtains in the bedrooms. Definitely requires better signage to find the property as taxis and tuk tuks couldn’t find it

For 3 bedrooms perhaps more equipment could have been provided like a cupboard, hangers, another hair blower, more hooks in the bathroom to hang clothes, a shower curtain?, two nightstands. The living room could benefit from a cozy sofa. You have to book in advance and get confirmed.
The location is perfect, the scenic view over Kandy lake is breathtaking. The apartment had plenty of space perhaps too much even though we were 5 ppl. All the facilities were provided to cook meal (electric stove, fridge...) We had the keys for each bedrooms and also the main gates.

Just little details but a drying frame for clothes to put on the balcony might have been helpful as would a couple of butter knives though the sharp knife was good.
The location was special and easy to access the main town and a supermarket. The view in the changing light of the day was magic! The apartment was clean, spacious and comfortable with the good sized balcony to tempt you. The air conditioning was excellent though we didn’t need it often with the slide window doors open Not many tuk tuk drivers knew the hotel but it was easy to direct them with the name of the hotel next door.

The bathroom is very slippery when wet, could use some safety mats or flip flops. No hand or tea towels provided. The layout is very odd - huge open plan room with a not very functional kitchenette on one side, dining table & chairs in the middle, and fridge on the other side of the room. No couch to sit and relax on. Security seems to wander off in the night sometimes. We had to wait around for a bit after returning from dinner one night, until they returned and let us into the building.
These apartments seem to be very new. They are huge and very clean. The beds were very comfortable and the towels and sheets were hotel quality. There were fans and aircon units in every room. The view over the lake is fabulous, and the location is great, about a 10 minute walk into the city centre. Manager bends over backwards to do what he can to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable.

Kitchen isnt fully equipped. There is hot water in the shower only in the early morning and night. If u need a shower in between, have to do with lukewarm water. There was a mishap with the booking. I had extended my stay via booking which was confirmed but they had already given reservations offline ( which isnt the problem) but how they handled the situation was very rude. Instead of them coming to us to explain, i was asked to come to their " madams” apartment to get an explanation and on top of that they made us check out exactly at 12pm. Despite knowing we were having difficulty finding other locations. I previously saw a review about the host being very rude but did not pay much attention to it thinking apartment was nice, but if you are reading this, think twice before making a reservation.

What a fantastic stay we had at The Glen Kandy. The apartment building is located on a mountain, so you are just outside the hustle and bustle of Kandy but have a beautiful view of the lake, the temple and the city. Everything is within walking distance. The apartment is huge, sparkling clean and fully equipped. The rooms are clean and well furnished, the beds sleep wonderfully. The owner, her daughter and son live above the apartment, are very friendly and hospitable and are available at all times for questions. We enjoyed our visit to The Glen Kandy, thank you very much for your good care! All the best and hope to see you soon!
