Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

NetherlandsThe sink in the room did not work, also the water was not running the morning I left. The place just switched owners so I have faith these issues will be fixed :) on this note, the sign on the road hasn't been switched put yet either, so don't get confused when you look for the place!
The place looks really nice from the outside. There is lots of room to hang out in the garden or in on the terrace. Hosts were extremely kind and helpful, even though there definitely was a bit of a language barrier. Location is a bit further away from Sigiriya "centre" than some other places, but it is right next to a temple and to a large reservoir where you can go for a swim (many Sri Lankans do too!)

PortugalThe staff in this hostel is AMAZING!! It was so fun to hang around with them and they are always so helpful and caring. They also cook delicious food! I got injuried in the first and they saved my holidays from boredom and trouble, for sure. The hostel is well localized, near the beach and the 'chill area' is always welcoming to meet people and have fun.

I am giving slightly lower rating for equipment and comfort but thats only because this place is now just starting so the guys are still fixing some little issues but I had a great time despite of it. The overal vibe and their interest in guests beats it all! Dudes set up a bonfire at the beach and grilled some really delicious fish for us. I felt like home ❤

PolandI totally recomend Kumara and his hostel. He and his friends are really friendly and helpfull. What is more he and his brother are the best surfing instructor I've ever had. In his hostel you can feel like you are visiting your good friends. It was clean and the localization also is very good.

United StatesI spent my stay in Sigiriya lost and fighting with my lying hosts. It took about an hour to look for the place because there is absolutely no signage, and nobody on the street knows the property. It's also in a bad location, about a 30 minute walk from the center. I returned for a second night with a friend, because the price was afordable, but they increased the price, after we arrived after dark. I had confirmed with the manager about the price for me and my friend over the phone, and they changed their mind when they realised we had no other option to go to. There was absolutely no atempt to rectify the situation, and it was clear they were completely content in scamming us. Furthermore, after being forced to pay his obscenely high fee, all the staff left us in the room without a towel and without toilet paper! We called multiple times for help and he insisted he was on his way back, and he would be able to help in 20 minutes. However it took him over an hour to show up. Please avoid these crooks. There are plenty of places closer to the center, that are run by honest and good natured people.
