The place is run by a Sri lankan family that took care of all our needs and were very friendly also the owner of the guest house is a tuk tuk driver so you can talk to him if you need a ride somewhere . Breakfast is great , location is good (next to many restaurants and coffee places and a beach). The room is very nice . Thank you Hiran for everything!

Quite a lot of ants came into the room, but we had a broom in the room, so just kept sweeping them away.

The location to the beach was close ... just a short walk away, but off the busy main road so quieter than some accommodation in Marissa. Breakfasts were amazing ... possibly the best we've had in Sri Lanka, including lots of fresh fruit. Room was a good size, comfy bed, mosquito net, fab wifi. Bathroom was modern, lots of hot water and good shower pressure. There was a small kitchenette for guests (shared with 1 other room), but great for making drinks / light meals. Hosts were wonderful, kind, generous and helpful. Did laundry for us at a reasonable price. The son is a tuktuk driver and we organized our onward travel with him for a fair price.

Room was clean and comfortable with great location. Host was really flexible and take care for us well,he helped to plan whale watching and surfing and suggested to pick us with tuk tuk and drop us there. Breakfast was delicious at the terrace with beautiful view to the garden. Wifi connection was stable. Where was no problem with hot water. This Guest House has a kitchen where you can cook if you would like to do it. If you need there is also oportunity to do laundry for a cheap price or do laundry by yourself.

The road to the place from main road is old and not every taxi driver will drive you with your bags up to the door. But the distance from the main road to the rooms is not big, about 20 meters.

Location is great! Very close to the beach. The owner (Lahiru) is a good host, always ready to help. We visit it for the second time, in total lived for more than a month. Everything is good!

The room was big and the bed was very comfortable. The location was only a few minutes from the beach but set back from the road surrounded by trees and wildlife. Monkeys, squirrels and a peacock. Very quiet and relaxing. Breakfast was substantial with lots of typical Sri Lankan items and fruit. Great place to stay

The access from the main road is in bad condition even fro walking, not suitable for old people. No toiletries at all, not even soap.

There was some minor noise from the beach bars in the evenings when there was parties on but it didn't bother me at all. You're set a bit back from the beach so it wasn't very loud and I had no problem ignoring it. If you're sensitive to noise then bring some ear plugs. Noise is always going to happen when you're so close to a populated beach and there's nothing the Waves can do about it.

I had a great 2 week stay at The Waves guest house. I chose Mirissa as a base for seeing a bit more of the South coast - nice beach, whale watching tours and easy day trips up to Galle or Udawalawe National Park (safari with elephants and more). The room was spacious and clean. Wifi and AC work well. You can also sit on the porch and watch the monkeys play :) The location is really good - tucked away from the main road - a very short walk to the beach. I saw in a review that it was a dark walkway so I took a torch for the evening. It is a very short driveway (good to have a torch but not really needed), cross the road and through a very short alley to the beach. As a single female traveller I felt very safe in Mirissa and walking back to the Waves in the evening. No problems. Breakfast was big and tasty and available at whatever time my changing schedule needed it. Hiran (the host) is very attentive and can organise anything you need for your trip. He helped me with changing money, organising transport, organising whale watching trip and scooter hire. It's around the corner from 2 spas if you like massage. Hiran can also help with booking for the highly rated Secret Root spa. I had a great time and would stay again if I was in Mirissa. Thanks Hiran and family :)

Lahiru and his family took great care of us! The room was big and spotlessly clean. Air conditioned, big comfy bed, hot water and an amazing rain shower with good water pressure. The beach is only a 30 second walk away, however, the guesthouse is nice and quiet with lots of greenery and trees surrounding it. Sitting on our room terrace we came across peacocks, some cute little monkeys climbing up the trees eating fruit and a host of other wildlife. Breakfast was simple but tasty! Definitely recommend staying here if you're looking for some privacy, but only steps away from the beach and fun!
