Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IndiaProbobly intercom in the rooms would have been nice. Other than that it was excellent and nothing else that I disliked.
The place is more beautiful than pictures. The rooms are very spacious, beds are comfortable and clean. Bathrooms are huge. The ocean view from the first floor rooms is stunning. But more than anything else, its the staff that makes you feel very welcome and are ready to serve you all the time with a huge smile. The food is a little expensive, but quite tasty. The breakfast portions are huge. Its a small property so there is no huge crowd. There is a lot of common area to hangout with family and friends. Would definitely recommend this place.

United KingdomAmazing place to stay, beautiful house, pool and garden. Room was lovely and staff were very helpful. You can hear the sea from the gardens and step out of the gate at the bottom of the garden to watch the waves. We think we even saw turtles in the sea from the gate! The walk to Coconut Hill was 10 minutes and from then on you can pretty much walk along the beaches to Mirissa beach if the tide is right.

IrelandIts hard to find any negatives about this Villa, but I have to say that the fact that you cannot swim anywhere along the stretch of beach in front of the villa was a little disappointing, but we knew that in advance.
I should explain that there are 2 Villas with the same name, side by side, with each Villa having 5 rooms. There were 11 of us staying in the Villa, so we 7 rooms booked. This meant that we had one full villa to ourselves and 2 rooms in the adjoining villa. As agreed in advance with the owner, we used the one villa for our food and spend the leisure time there also. The Villa exceeded all our expectations, from the Villa itself, the staff, the food and the customer service. Rooms were exceptional and the staff cooked a fantastic meal for the 11 people on our last night, that had us all wanting to stay longer. The Villa and garden area with the pool were maintained every day and everything was in pristine condition all the time. Breakfast every morning for the 3 days was a feast, with nothing an issue for the kitchen staff. We would all highly recommend this Villa, especially if you have a group that will occupy all 5 rooms in the Villa and have it to yourself.

United KingdomNothing that we didn’t like, but location wise it would be nice to have clear big signpost directing to the hotel.
A nice colonial building, well maintained and tastefully decorated. We arrived quite late, but were welcomed with a smile. We were offered drinks and shown to our room. The room was comfortably furnished and the bathroom was exceptionally big. We stayed 2 nights and enjoyed the stay. The food was delicious and they catered for vegetarians. We went on an early whale watching tour, and came late, but they still served us a delicious breakfast. Amazing service. It was a bit difficult to find, and perhaps large sign board on the main road would do some justice to this paradise. I would definitely recommend this hotel!!

United KingdomWe have nothing negative to say about this Villa. It had everything we wanted and we loved everything about it so, we look forward to visiting again soon.
The Villa is wonderfully decorated...it was like stepping back in time with old colonial furniture... just beautiful! The garden was immaculate at all times, the pool was clean and although you cant swim in the ocean due to the rocks and coral, we saw around 30 to 40 turtles each evening which was an absolute delight! The nearest beach for swimming and surfing is only a 5 minute Tuk Tuk ride away.

United KingdomSmall things could be improved on. Keeping pool and area clean, Staff try there hardest but could do with some direction. We still enjoyed our stay and would recommend the hotel.
Rooms upstairs were lovely, building and artwork very tastefully decorated, nice size pool and garden great view , not too far from mirrissa beach which we preferred as quieter, nice secluded beach where you can swim with turtles to the left of the property about 10mins walk along the rocks and sand far nicer than turtle beach , breakfast was really good , we also ate there in the evening and enjoyed a good standard of dish.

GermanyThis hotel has a lot of potential. As already written it is quiet, relaxing, has great ocean views and two refreshing pools. The staff is very friendly and helpful if you ask them. But you do have to ask about everything yourself. There is no front desk, there is no manager and during check in, nobody really explains how the whole place works. From my point of view, a hotel or villa in this price category should ACTIVELY provide a certain standard of service and information, and not only on request. or is the room cleaned during the stay, what do you have to do to have it cleaned? How to get to town? What options are there to eat in the hotel, and in the vicinity? Where to get pool towels? At one point, there was a power outage only in our room during the night. It was difficult to find someone from staff, as there is no front desk. And nobody told us that there is a bell to ring for staff - we found it by accident the next day. So it was some time before we found some night watchman near the entrance gate who would help us and detect and fix the blown fuse. We had a great stay, but you could enhance the guest experience significantly if you would provide a little bit more information
Villa Atulya is a beautiful property with two pools. Our ground floor room was spacious and comfortable. We would have preferred a proper sofa, though, instead of an unused single bed, so as to have an additional comfortable place to sit. Staff was friendly and helpful with transport and laundry. The Egg Benedict for breakfast was a real treat!

United KingdomVery old fashioned hotel. I don't know whether you can call it a hotel even . The bathroom was very open, with the inner part which was totally exposed to the outside. Hence this allowed small flies and insects to get into the bathroom. Even in the dining area, you could not get away from the flies.
The welcome was really good. The bed was comfortable but although the bed had mosquito nets all around, it was difficult to keep the mosquitos away from the rooms.
