Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

I loved the dogs and cats that they keep. Breakfast is also delicious and the pool to refresh. Very nice people that will help you with all your questions. They give you good recommandations for restaurants and prices for the tuktuk.

GermanyBeautifully furnished this Villa was a perfect stay for our last 2 days in SL. The owners are super friendly and the many cats and dogs were super cute. Well located you are at the beach in under 10 min, mainstreet with shops and restaurants as well (try their own Centella Bistro, very good Rice&Curry and cake!).

AustraliaGorgeous little place tucked away in negombo. Nilashi (part owner) is an amazing human caring for all the dogs & cats he has rescued. (They were half the reason I booked 😄). Dennis (part owner) very kindly advised my route to weligama. All the staff are helpful and kind. Make sure to check out their restaurant down the road! A breakfast was also prepared for me to take away as i left early (the omlette sandwhich was delicious!). Sociable and welcoming place, I felt very comfortable as a solo woman. Thank you for a lovely stay.

United KingdomThis was our last destination in Sri Lanka and really made it hard to leave The place itself is lovely, with a nice pool area and spacious clean rooms. The owner was very welcoming, and he spent time chatting with us and explaining how he dedicates part of his life to rescue local cats and dogs. There were a lot of rescue cats there, which made our staying even more pleasant. The Villa is close to the centre and you can find loads of restaurants and cafes nearby and also Brown beach is just a few minutes away. He also owns a restaurant not far away, which was also a good find. Would highly recommend!

GuernseyThe bathroom had a horrible mouldy shower curtain. Apart from that, it was fine. There are lots of rescued cats at the villa and two well behaved dogs. Not a problem for us but might be for some.
A lovely place to stay for four days at the end of our trip. The pool was clean and had a little bit of shade. Our pool view balcony room was comfortable and cleaned halfway through our stay. Breakfast was good, choice of eggs, nice bread, fruit and curd with honey. Location is good, about a 5 minute walk to the main road where there are lots of shops and restaurants. We'd stay here again.

This hotel is in a great location - pool is lovely and breakfast simple but very pleasant. The owners are extremely helpful and local restaurant an bars are great - it was a very relaxing end to our holiday as we had travelled around a lot - if we went back I would start in this hotel and finish here as well as super close to the airport. They also look after your bags or you can stay a half day if you have a late flight.

United KingdomI loved my stay at Villa Kapuru. The rooms were comfortable and I enjoyed the breakfast in the morning. The Villa has loads of places you can sit and read which I loved. But for me it was the cats that made it! They are so gorgeous and it is amazing that they have all been rescued and rehabilitated by the owners. BRAVO!

What a gem! A lovely hotel in a quiet area but within easy walking distance of the main area and beach. It backs onto the canal with a beautiful swimming pool at the front. We stayed in a deluxe double with pool view and could not fault it. Comfy bed, large room, good air con with large bathroom and hot shower. The pool was sparklingly clean and the area around it lovely. There are chairs and a huge day bed to relax on either overlooking the pool or canal. The owners were lovely and really helpful with good advice. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Clean room, good size, friendly staff, nice little pool to cool off, delicious breakfast, good location walking distance to beach and main road yet on a smaller quieter street. Lots of cute and not intrusive dogs and cats for animal lovers 🙂

GermanyOnly Negombo itself didn't appeal to me too much, so I spent all the more time in the accommodation, which I don't regret! :)
The villa is very lovingly and tastefully furnished! Together with the extremely friendly and helpful staff, adorable pets, lots of plants, views of the river and the pool, it's a real place to feel at home. And if you want to go to the beach to watch breathtaking sunsets or have something for dinner, it only takes 5 minutes! All in all, I can only recommend it for a start in Sri Lanka!

ArgentinaReally cute and comfortable place to arrive in Sri Lanka, settle and organise your trip :) Villa Kapuru is in Negombo, super close to the airport and walking distance from the main road of the city with restaurants, shops, as well as the beach. The rooms are clean and comfortable, there is a pool to freshen up and the breakfast is very nice, served in the pool-patio area. The staff is really nice and helpful too, I had to send some things over there and there was no problem - thanks a lot!! Also, they have a super nice restaurant in the town: Centella Bistro, so you should check that out too!!
