It was very tired ! The pool edges (which to be fair the staff warned us about) still caused cuts to our kids feet - it was clean however ! I sat on a sunbed and it collapsed ! I’m not a big guy…. The walls (we stayed in a family villa) needed a clean , but the sheets, pillows were all clean and good AC… In summary - a great place for one night only crash pad, we stayed for 2 - there’s nothing around there apart from the elephants … don’t not book …for the price it’s a fair deal … but know what your getting for your money … the owner needs to spend some money on upkeep and it’s getting hight score

Unfortunately the place was a bit rundown. Cracks in the flooring. Paint teared off with lots of termites in the garden (okay its in nature so I get it). Pool area needs a big improvement as it's very dangerous. Tiles are broken/rundown in the pool and no cornertiles placed so its very sharp, my son cut is toe the first day and fingercthe second day, just by walking/grabbing the side. There tiles around the pool are broken and there's a massive metal panel next to the pool where I burned my feet when I accidentally stepped upon on it. So pool area is not great. For the rest it's okay.

Very kind and supportive staff! Nice green location with sone squirrels running around. The rooms are decent with nice bathroom. Location close to elephant pathing area although you need to pay tickets to see them bathe in the river which is kind of silly.

Very quiet despite beginning in the popular elephant location. The room was very comfortable with a soft sofa and a safe. The staff were very helpful, if a little overwhelming after a long drive, about our arrival. The swimming pool looked lovely but we were too busy to use it. The ordered food which was very quick to arrive. Our room could not get the WiFi.

The room was very small but given we were staying for 3 nights, we were offered a larger room. We declined as we really liked the private pool. As the hotel was away from the river, we couldn't get down to the shops and bar without a ticket for the elephant orphanage, not until 4pm anyway. Most places were closed or closing after 4pm.

We stayed in the honeymoon suite with a private pool and garden. The pool was lovely and refreshing, the room was secluded from the main areas. The breakfast was tasty, the staff were friendly and helpful.

The food portions were way too small for the price. The mixed fried rice that I ordered for lunch was a kid's portions for Rs. 900. The Mixed Sizzling was delicious, but way to small for Rs. 3000. I wish that there was an indication of the portion size or an option for different portion sizes even with an extra charge. Also the food should've been better covered when the are served to the room.

The friendly staff, private pool attached to the Honeymoon Suite, and close proximity to the Elephant Orphanage made this place extremely worth the price we spent on this.

Staff were fantastic, could not have been kinder and more attentive. Great location right next to the elephants. Loved the huts too. Very comfortable and kids loved the pool.

My children get slide up on their belly in the broken sharp edge pool. Se comment from other guest, the resort also told us, but why they don’t fix it????? Pool water dirty, not clean and now filter or chlorine. Dirty rooms and toilet whit mosquito and animals! Not 5 star, nothing you can offer you family. Breakfast is a joke, no water or juice was offer for my kids, but I could buy 3 coke’s! We was the only guest, so I think is was not the capacity but more the running team and owner behind the resort, ho is not taking this place seriously. We checked out 1 day before and payed for the day, just to get the hell away from this place. We all get sick and have fever 🤒 Notice the elephant area, it is a tourist scam and money machine and it was a bad experience for my kids. We vent 8 years ago and it was not like this in the elephant area.!

I really hate writing bad reviews about hotels, but this is definitely not a 5 star hotel as advertised by booking.com.... iv been travelling for 8 weeks staying in over 32 hotels and this is by far not a 5 star. Firstly there is no reception area, no friendly welcome on arrival or a freshing drink. We only had sandwiches and they were okay 👍 we decided against eating their breakfast as the manager was really rude and araggent. Our room absolutely stunk of mold, we did complain so they sprayed air freshener to try and fix the problem 😞 the room was small and very cramped, our room was 108 right opposite the pool but right next to the noisy restaurant, bath was really dirty 🤮 only one towel for myself husband and daughter, very expensive for what it was, and would absolutely not return. This hotel is nothing like the pictures, it's complex is literally off a main car park for the elephant orphanage. That charges foreigners well over the odds because of the colour of my skin and ethnicity, needless to say we did not go in.... Foreigners get ripped of alot in Sri Lanka... India was much cheaper in comparison. In all I was extremely disappointed in pinnawela, all the pictures do not show the true area and how elephant's are chained to rocks in the river....

I had booked the honeymoon suite, and unfortunately it was alot smaller than what I was expecting. The photos make the room look bigger than what it actually was. With our suitcases it was quite hard for both of us to use the room together. The room and swimming pool also had a lot of bugs around it. That said, it was good value for money, but I did feel let down by the size.

Staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. Customer service was top notch and I felt safe in the villa.

Comfortable room, has everything you need: comfortable bed, mosquito net, air conditioning, wardrobe, refrigerator, safe, excellent bathroom. When we came for breakfast, the receptionist said that breakfast time was over, but he still made us breakfast! For breakfast, we had a cheese omelet with sausages, as well as fruit slices, toast with butter and jam The breakfast is delicious! Thank you very much!

We had to leave for an excursion early in the morning and the gate was locked with no one around. After about 45 minutes we managed to get out.

A nice place and the staff will get to know you well. the pool is really nice and the villas are comfy and cool. Great location, good value, I wold stay here again. The rooms feel off to the side and away from the busy street.
