Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe Temple of the Golden Tooth is perhaps the holiest of Buddhist sites in Sri Lanka. Its popularity seems to have eclipsed the city's ability to accommodate huge throngs of people and the cars and buses that transport them to Kandy. The lack of appropriate infrastructure to support this tourist site is a major problem that will only grow with time if not addressed.
The setting, high on a hillside overlooking the river, and outside the frenetic bustle and unending traffic of downtown Kandy, is outstanding. It is a refuge from the hustle and bustle in a city that seems to be choking from overcrowding and excessive tourism. The facilities and room were outstanding with balconies tailor-made for relaxing and enjoying spectacular mountain scenery.

GreeceThe property was located on the hill with an amazing view and surrounded by nature. The staff was incredible friendly and accommodating. The place was spotless with great size rooms and very comfortable beds. Stayed two nights there and everything was great. Also great food, although I believe that should focus more on their local cuisine (but this is just me!). Overall very very happy!

AustriaOur first stay in Sri Lanka was at this cozy villa, and it made our holiday start on a high note. The place is super comfy, set in a peaceful oasis. Although it's a bit far from the city center and takes a 15-minute tuk-tuk ride to get there, this is actually an advantage as it offers a quiet escape from the busy city. The food at Villa Rosa is absolutely delicious (the best we've tried in Sri Lanka actually). Our room was clean and comfortable, with a big terrace and amazing views. And of course a biiig thank you to the super professional and friendly staff :)

GermanyIf they'd exchange the plastic water bottles for the filtered water that we got in most other places in Sri Lanka, it would make our stay even better!
This was our second stay at Villa Rosa in less than a year - it's safe to say that it is one of our favourite places in Sri Lanka. Arriving felt like coming home and the kind staff made sure that our stay was just as comfortable and memorable as the first one. We enjoyed the delicious curries, spent some relaxing time by the pool enjoying the view onto the Mahaweli with a sundowner and even got an introduction into Sri Lankan cooking! The rooms are just as beautiful as the location itself. We'll definitely be back the next chance we get!

QatarMagical spot with extraordinarily friendly and attentive staff. The vibe is mi casa es su casa, and it is just that. Not many hotels where you are encouraged to wander in the kitchen to watch dinner being prepared. And yes, the food is excellent. So was the room, and the view of the Kandy valley from the infinity pool is not to be missed.

United KingdomMy only comment would be there weren’t always enough sun beds around the pool for the number of guests
Everything about this property was brilliant. The views were incredible, the staff were all so considerate and helpful, and all the food was amazing - some of the best curries we had on our whole trip. It really felt like a home away from home and they were so accommodating when we wanted to stay an extra night.

United KingdomThere isn’t anything we disliked about this place.
What a fabulous place! The moment you walk into the Villa you get the wow factor. You’re instantly hit with the view and it’s breathtaking. The staff are so friendly and polite and cannot do enough to make your stay enjoyable. We’d booked the standard double room as it was the only one available and it was amazing. Large, spacious with great AC and very comfortable. The pool was a game changer and so refreshing after a days sightseeing in the Sri Lankan heat. I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Kandy. Thank you to the staff for making our first stop in Sri Lanka an unforgettable one, we’ll definitely be back!

United KingdomUpon entering Villa Rosa, there is an instant feeling of calm and tranquillity. We were travelling with our two adult children and had booked the family suite. We were greeted with fresh juices and shown to our gorgeous terrace. The service is first class and nothing is too much trouble. The property has a homely yet stylish vibe, and is the perfect escape from the crazy heat of Kandy town. The infinity pool is breathtaking and the food served for dinner is superb. I would return to this hotel in a heartbeat. It’s a pleasure to stay in a hotel knows how to get it just right. Lastly, there is a free tuktuk to run you into town, but it’s lovely to come home again. Thank you Villa Rosa we will be back.

United KingdomIt’s a little bit far out of Kandy but that’s not really a problem since the hotel provides a drop off in town free of charge.

United KingdomStaff were very good at arranging things for us, but this could turn out expensive, for example the car cost he offered for our onward trip was double what we actually paid when we got our own driver. Also I asked to go to the local mall and was taken to a very overpriced tourist fabric house, heavy sell. Was told that was my best option but found what I was looking for afterwards ( and after spending unnecessarily). In-house massage also expensive and very average. Should mention that this is also one booking we got scam request, can’t help feeling something not right in-house. Not a lot of option to hang out wet towels or swimwear.
Beautiful house and beautiful location, with a much longed for cooling breeze. Host Volker is an absolute gent, very attentive and chilled. Rooms are comfortable snd very tasteful. Food here are typically tasty and always an option at mealtimes of western or Sri Lankan (although if you prefer SL the choice is same each day).

AustraliaGetting to the hotel the road was quite steep. It also meant that getting into town was not an easy option but, it was not a problem for us. That said, a soulless into town would be a good addition. The pool whilst sensational, had limited seating around it.
We had an awesome room at the top of the hotel with spectacular views across the mountains and fields. The chef there prepared one of the best meals we had in Sri Lanka and the facilities in the room were second to none.
