It’s not in the center of Kandy as it was advertised but about 1,5 km north (steep hills). Several Uber and Pickme drivers cancelled on me and the tuktuks at the bus station didn’t know where it was (didn’t have smart phones and also couldn’t read maps). It was a bit of a frustrating experience at first. I just wished I had known. It takes about 10 min by tuktuk to reach and around 200/250 lkr by tuktuk. The actual place is amazing. I did find though that it would be even better if it was a bit tidier (in the kitchen, etc). But all in all is good value for money, if you don’t mind being a bit further away from the city center.

Beautiful views to the mountains from the bedroom and the common room (huge windows and a balcony). The hosts are a nice couple. Very comfortable, wide beds. Room had a fan and private bathroom with hot water. The common room is ideal for having meals and working. Wifi signal is strong.

Slightly out of town, 20 minute walk to centre but it’s up and down, but the owner has a tuk tuk, and he can take you places, he’s a good man

I had a wonderful 2 nights at Villa Serene. The hosts are very friendly and helpful people. I enjoyed talking with them lots. The accommodation was great in a quiet green spot away from the noisy city. I felt very at home and relaxed. Breakfast was also great. I could definitely come back to villa serene. I walked everywhere so walking into the city is a short distance.

Unfortunately, there were a couple of rainy days and our room got molded because it was directly under rain. However, the hosts helped us change rooms and everything was fine in the end. The villa is somewhere uphill and it was quite difficult to get a "Pick me" but our host gave us a ride whenever we needed. :)

Our hosts were very lovely and accommodating. They arranged transport, meals, laundry, everything we needed. We felt like visiting our family. The view is incredible from the balcony.

I spent three nights here and really enjoyed my stay. The room was clean, spacious and very comfortable. The owners are really friendly, welcoming and helpful. The villa is really nice and quiet and in a good location. It’s also excellent value for money. Highly recommended.

I loved staying at Villa Serene. The room was clean and comfortable, common areas were beautiful and spacious, and the views from the accommodation were breathtaking. The family who runs the place is very friendly and helpful. I even had a little tour with the host - we went to see hundreds of bats by the lake. It was a great experience off the beaten path. They also offered tuk tuk rides with good prices which was definitely a great addition.

Wifi is poor.

The wiew from the terrasse is absolutly outstanding. The hostcouple Tissa and Jayantha are very helpfull and caring. I highly recomend this place.

The view was amazing from the location. Facilities were spotless and the host did a great job helping us around. Recommended some places and showed us around Kandy. Had a wonderful breakfast. Nice and quiet as we hoped for!

Be aware that this location is a little out of the way from the city center of Kandy. Luckily, the hosts will take you into town on their tuk tuk. They will add the cost to the bill at the end. We liked being away from the city (the views can't be beat!), but it could be inconvenient.

We had a great view from the room and our hosts were extremely accommodating. They even drove us into town on their tuk tuk. Breakfast was delicious, and our hosts kindly made us vegan meals. We had an amazing time at the Villa Serene!

You need to walk quite long to the top of the hill to get to the location. Don't follow the Google Map, the location on the map was wrong. You should call them first to make sure. Besides, I walked back from the town late at night and the road was scary they have some dogs around, so if you go back late, better to take tuktuk.

The room and facilities are nice and clean. The family is really friendly. I recommend having breakfast here, quite big compared with other places. The view on the rooftop is amazing and living room is good for working.

Lovely place with an awesome view due to the location on top of a hill. Everything was exceptionally clean and well maintained. I had a quiet and relaxing stay here, as planned. I can really recommend this place!

* The location is a bit confusing for Tuktuks, and while the owner himself has a Tuktuk, it is double the prices on Uber/Pickme.. But I ended up just taking the owner's to save time (as I only had one night in Kandy) * Just know that the Kandy dance (the culture center) is just behind the Temple of the Tooth.. I realized that after the owner made a full circle around the lake, He assumed that "I would want to see the lake" .. I didn't ask for this long tour and the lake is quite visible to me! and I would've preferred walking around Kandy before the shops close.. Luckily, He didn't charge me for this long ride around the lake, which is fair.. But just for heads up so you plan your trip as you would want it to be ;)

What was wrong with the location? I only went out once a day into Kandy. I was walking. I used to return in a pool of sweat, my T shirt soaked. I could have asked Mr T to pick me up in his tuk-tuk or any tuk-tuk driver. But I didn't.

Ironically, I liked the location. On the walk from the villa, I saw mongooses and monkeys. In the nearby forest/jungle I saw a scared dog running down the road. When I went into the reservation I saw a bunch of wild pigs. Nearby is a Five Star Hotel which is fantastic. For most of my stay I thought it was a partially built block of flats dominating the skyline. The Grand Kandyan. This hotel is on Lady Gordon's Drive. Nearby is Lady Torrington Road. It only leads to a few houses. The important road to remember is Sri Dhamma Dhassi Mawatha. Coming out of Kandy on the B519 from the centre, you turn right into a small opening after Trinity College (Odean Road). As you go up the hill you will see a large sign saying LONDON BRIDGE. It is a school. A key junction is by another school, AI ICT. You continue until you turn right onto 4th Lane. Villa Serene is at the end of 4th Lane, by which time the road has become narrow. Villa Serene is on the side of a valley on the top of the hill. There are steps leading from near Villa Serene down to the B519 / A9 by a cricket/football ground (Rajan Memorial Public Ground). Close to Lady Torrington Road. There is also access at this point to Sri Dhamma Dhassi Mawatha. My partial explanation of the road may seem long-winded but I am trying to be helpful. Initially, you or your tuk-tuk driver would be well advised to phone Villa Serene.

clean and tidy. it has enough space for a couple. good view at night. there’s a free space in the slab and it is a best place to watch night sky. if you are not travel by a vehicle there is stairs to go to the main road. it will take less than five minutes to take a bus or a tuk-tuk to go to the main city.

This house made us feel at our own home. The hosts are very hospitable and helpful people. This house is also a place where you can stay in peace and security in Kandy. As a location, you can go down to the city center in just 15-20 minutes by walking.
