Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

RussiaFrom the formal side: Very good European cuisine every day, ocean right in front of your door, amazing wild life and very attentive, approachable personnel, which suits all of your needs. From my heart: Apart from a really incredible picturesque location, which would really touch something inside your inner world, the staff’s scrupulous attention to your needs makes this stay unforgettable and gives the warmth as if you are staying at home. My most sincere and deep thanks to Vie ta Vis Mirissa, to all of lovely people, who made my family’s stay so enjoyable, and separately to Mr. Abheetha, as well as Mr.Darrell And Mrs Vajira.

United KingdomWe loved the property. It is a new villa and the rooms were well equipped, comfortable, clean. Luxury boutique hotel. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable especially Roshan and the boys Kazan, rasika and abhithea were very sweet and couldn’t do enough for you. Breakfast was delicious and pool snacks good. We released baby turtles from a tiny farm run by the government ecological area to save the eggs from predators. The hotel also called us when the turtles came to lay their eggs.

United KingdomNothing our stay was perfect.
From the moment we arrived the hotel has that wow factor. There are several hotels along this stretch of beach but we chose this due to it's small size. The staff are SO friendly, our room was larger than expected, modern. spotless and with the most amazing view of the sea. We knew we could not swim in the sea directly outside of the hotel but to be honest this was a blessing as there is nobody there literally. Mirissa Beach is a few minutes tuk tuk ride away and nice to go for a visit, swim and lunch but always glad to get back to the peace and serenity of our hotel. Breakfast was just amazing, fresh and delicious. We only ate our evening meal here on our last night, we had a table literally on the beach and our meal was delicioius, wish we'd eaten here more nights. There is a restaurant about a minutes walk up the road called Zephyr Ceylon which was incredible and would also highly recommed. When we arrived, we were asked if we would like to be told if there were turtles hatching. That evening we got a knock on our door and were led along the beach to an area where they protect the eggs and then release the baby turtles as and when they hatch. Luckily for us this was one of the nights and we were able to help release them back into the sea - truly an amazing experience. It was also World Women's Day whilst we were there and the hotel laid on a deliciious afternoon tea for us, which was very touching, unexpected but appreciated. All in all, this was one of my favourite stays in Sri Lanka and a wonderful place to end our holiday with.

AustraliaThere is nothing I did not like.
As soon as the gates open you are met with smiling faces and an amazing view. The staff were so obliging and attentive. Rooms were sensational and the direct access to beach with turtles at night just capped off an amazing stay. To be served a beautiful seafood platter on the beach will be a lasting memory for all of us. The pool and grounds are immaculate. We can not wait to return. Thank you!

United KingdomNothing.
Everything. Decor, cleanliness, staff, food, location, view, comfort, wifi. The staff were brilliant, attentive, welcoming and the whole stay felt very personal and catered to my needs. The location was quiet and serene, which was exactly what I wanted for my stay. The sea was rough to swim in but some people were swimming a short walk down the beach. I didn’t leave the hotel (and didn’t need to) so I don’t know much else about the location, but I didn’t want a tourist area. The design of the hotel was perfect, new and so clean. The shower was strong, bed was comfortable and the sheets were soft. The view from the room was perfect, if the A/C was off you could hear the waves. The food was delicious and the chef asked what I wanted for my next meal, both Sri Lankan and western food available. Strong wifi. I had a very warm welcome on arrival which made me feel comfortable and relaxed. Thank you for a brilliant stay

IndiaHousekeeping - small issues - water refill and turndown not completed despite request Charge for extra bed - think if your child is less than 12 then no charge. Comparable to other resorts/hotels in Sri Lanka.
We stayed 2 nights and we thought is was a relaxing stay with a homely feel. Management and staff very attentive . The villa is very open and bright - making for a nice stay. Located on the beach area makes it a great place for walking and playing with kids. We loved the opportunity to release turtles into the Indian Ocean. The breakfast and dinner were great and the chefs were very flexible to cater for preferences.

United KingdomNoticed quite a lot of ants around the property, hot water not turned on prior to arrival, beach not swimmable directly in front, due to low occupancy the hotel was over staffed which at times felt uncomfortable. However the staff were all friendly & accommodating. Some of the decor / furniture felt a bit out of place & didn’t match- not in keeping with the theme or boutique feel. For the price I paid expected much more luxury. Booking.com stated a total price but later noticed there was a service charge added on which made this a very expensive stay. There is unfortunately a big new high rise hotel at the end of the beach on one side which spoils the sunset view
Amazing food with catering preferences well considered- really enjoyed breakfast & the evening meal we paid for. The staff set up the table nicely on the beach for dinner. Beautiful beach outside the hotel (with turtles nesting), nice for sunrise view, bed was comfortable
