Waterside is on the bank of the river and property was stunningly beautiful. Rooms were BIG and very conformable. close to Bentota beach. I would love to visit again.

The room did not come with a kettle and cups, but we were promptly provided these upon request. The AC took some time to cool the room and we noticed it especially because it was terribly hot and humid outside.

The location is by the Bentota river. The property offers a boat safari into the river that takes you through the mangroves. The pricing for the boat ride in an off season is very reasonable. The food is simple but very well made. The entire staff at Waterside Bentota was extremely hospitable and helpful.

Nothing. We took a portable drink heater for tea and coffee but most of the time had it at the restaurant.

Brilliant relaxing, tranquil garden with large pool. Watching thousands of Vine bats at sunset from the pool or our balcony from our deluxe room. Location for us walking distance to large Bentota Buddha and on to the station and beach, park and cafe, or short tuk tuk ride. Peaceful, excellent for bird watching, Krested hawk eagles, Brahminy Kites, Vine bats, Kingfishers, Egrets, Bee Eaters, Mynah birds.. 4th time in Bentota first here hope sincerely to go back. Staff excellent did everything to make us comfortable. On my request gave me an airer to dry clothes on the balcony. Discussed vegetarian options breakfast, lunch and evening meal. Loved the Sri Lankan food we requested. Bedroom a dream, large comfey bed, air conditioning, lovely bathroom, TV for news, views from the balcony to reflect on. Enjoyed bird watching on early morning boat trip and invited to visit owners farm. Enjoyed discussing the longer term future plans and changes to organic farming. Visited Panchakapaduwa Buddist secret island along the beach back track in the shade again. Wonderful 4 days very sad to leave. Thank you to all the staff. So relaxing.

Only one gripe which I sort of feel bad mentioning but I feel the need to prepare other unsuspecting people that may read the reviews for the river safari which was one of the reasons I booked this accomodation. We were all Ok with the cost quoted at 12,000 LKR (60AUS)but it was what happened when we were taken to an unexpected spice garden which turned out to be a very elaborate scam and we got sucked in hook line and sinker. We didnt even have cash or our card with us but we were then accompanied in the boat with a man in a suit for us to pay on card 19800LKR close to Aus 100. It ate into our time to see what we went for on the safari , . Having said that I would just recommend giving the spice garden a complete miss!!!!

Food was very good , chef cooked beautiful meals at a very reasonable price .Resort only had one other couple and they gave us a free upgrade to a balcony which was very nice of them , they organised transport to our next location which all went to plan. Also a taxi to do a couple of sights and helped us grab a couple of Advocados at the market. Everyone went above and beyond for the 3 days we stayed.

We booked for one week and decided to stay another week. We liked it there very much, friendly staff, spacious rooms, large pool, good meals. It is a a short walk to the beach and Bentota town, but we decided to stay there, enjoy the waterfront porch at the river, used the pool and just - relaxed. Its a small hotel where you can find peace and quitness.

It was all perfect.

We had an amazing three nights here and would have liked to stay longer. Such a peaceful location overlooking the lagoon and a beautiful pool to swim in. Dinner was delicious with an amazing variety of delicious curries. We were made to feel very welcome and at home and nothing was too much trouble.

The location, the view, the sereness, the rooms and specially the hospitality. The rooms are really spacious. Though there are lesser options to eat for vegetarians but if you request anything to cook, the food was delicious. Would recommend to stay

Absolutely amazing! Everything about it, the wonderful kind staff, the beautiful setting, the wildlife. I can recommend eating there- we did every night as the food was so good. Definitely do a boat trip with them, it was such a lovely experience. I can’t say enough how much we loved it and will definitely be back!

Nothing Everything was fantastic

Exceptional… I felt like I had walked into Paradise and I wasn’t wrong. Stunning location on the river and only a short Tuk Tuk ride to the shops or free boat trip to the beach within minutes. Room was huge with so much space, fridge and kettle in the room , air con and fan , TV, hot water, his and hers sinks , big soft new towels provided. Own terrace with view to die for and seconds to the beautiful clean swimming pool which is cleaned everyday, we were in heaven and didn’t want to leave. The owner Kamal and all the staff work so hard to accommodate and please , they can’t do enough for you, everything I asked for, they went the extra mile and more . Food fantastic, breakfast was delicious, beautiful fresh fruits , pure juices, cheese omelette gorgeous. Kamal arranged a fantastic curry selection on our last night , best I’ve tasted in Sri Lanka. A boat safari tour was arranged by Kamal . It was so exciting, we saw the sun rise , we saw crocodiles, huge water monitors , green snake, blue kingfisher , fruit bats and Purple face leaf monkeys all along the river and mangroves . All the staff are amazing, kindest and such genuine people . We stayed 3 nights and wish we had stayed more . Kamal also arranged a one to one with a yogi master in the temple close by where I did yoga . Brilliant yoga session and just a few minutes walk from Waterside. My favourite place in Sri Lanka and would definitely recommend. Don’t hesitate!.. just book it!!

The WiFi could have been stronger but I'm nit picking here. A fantastic experience

It's directly on the lake and the thousands of fruit bats that come from the Mangorve trees early evening was out highlight of the entire holiday. Staff were outstanding as was the food. Cooked us lobster as requested for our last evening. Just a wonderful, wonderful stay. Pool was also beautiful and well kept

Bed was a little hard from us but that's personal preference. Could have done with a mirror over the plug socket in the room for hair drying.

I can't speak highly enough of the staff here - so welcoming and nothing too much trouble. The meals are served beautifully to guests, and the curry is second to none. Room was large and quiet and view from the room/ pool gorgeous.

The property is disconnected from all the city noise which makes it a perfect resort to unwind and relax during your holiday. About the staff: the staff believes is customer service and are strong on keeping them happy. The owners Kamal and Amila and their entire support staff looked after us so well. Infact they treated guests as their own members The staff customises food taste as per your preferences and are ready to assist whenever needed

It is a friendly and relaxed place and the pool is amazing as is the sunset over the river. The team were ever ready to help us and the food was delicious (and good value next to other places). The beach and town are a short tuk tuk ride away. Thanks to Kamal, Amila, Nuwan, Saman, Kumara and all. I highly recommend this small peaceful getaway.

It is not close to the beach, but it takes 8 minutes by tuk-tuk which hotel organized for the reasonable price.

Perfect hotel experience. - spacious comfy rooms - nice terrace with the view to the river - pool (it was cleaned every day) - very friendly and helpful staff, welcomed us with fresh juice and then helped with laundry and other requests - amazing food (especially fresh fish for dinner) - river boat safari directly from hotel was additional great things we tried.

Waterside is an oasis. It provides a great spot to really relax. The open dining, living area and beautifully kept pool flow into the mature garden, bang on the river. Bedrooms and bathrooms are a good size, finished with “Old School” quality and touches.

We stayed only one night, did not find any problems. For dinner they offered only fried rice, but you can eat in town.

Apart from the fact that you cannot walk to the property after sundown as it's quite inside there is nothing much to not like.

The location is beautiful it is right on the lake and you get to see a beautiful Sunrise and Sunset every day, the menu is limited, however, the chef has an excellent hand at what he does, you must try the string hoppers and other local delicacies that he cooks.

Really high standard hotel,we were very satisfied!! Perfectly clean, spacious rooms with comfortable beds and proper european standard bathroom with bath tub. Personel was also great and we enjoyed delicious food. Perfectly located at the river. You can do a boat tour on the river
