Amazing place 🤎 I think that was the best homestay I have found in Sri Lanka. Beautifull huts in the beautifull nature where you can watch wild animals which for sure you cannot find near your home. I will come back here for sure!

Wow, this place is amazing! The location is fantastic, right in the jungle, even from the taxi we saw elephants on the roadside. The host Milan is very friendly, he speaks excellent English and was happy to help with booking our onward travel as well as the safari. The cabin itself is decorated to a high standard and the outside shower was an incredible experience, with hot water and good pressure! We also had dinner there which was absolutely delicious. Highly recommended!

I have no complaints

Mila has constructed 3 detailed wooden cabins over looking the stream. Mila’s mum cooks delicious food. The room Is lovingly constructed and the bird life from the balcony is excellent - Malabar Hornbills, kingfishers, sunbirds, leaf birds etc. The WIFi is excellent. Mila organised a safari w Rookman who was our driver and guide and w had many personal encounters w elephants. Good birding w serpent and crested eagles close ups. Yoga on the balcony, cold air con. Accommodation is in the village. Very close to Udawalawe. Mila also organised transport. Pay in Rupees.

Our accommodation was gorgeous. It was in the style of a safari lodge with a beautiful terrace overlooking the water. We sat here & chilled out with a drink watching the fish & listening to all the wildlife. The gardens are stunning with peppercorn vines growing everywhere. We had the most delicious meal here which was a selection of dishes all fabulous. We booked a safari from the hotel which was fantastic.

Such a beautiful place to stay. Mila was so welcoming and helpful. The cabins are lovely and so relaxing. We spent hours sat on the balcony watching and listening to nature. Mila also arranged a safari trip for us and a driver to our next destination. The food was lovely as well.

Quite hard to find as one of the roads was closed off. A mosquito net would have also been helpful as a bit of extra protection.

Our host Mila and his colleague were super helpful and kind. They cooked us dinner, served us breakfast at a time that was convenient for us and arranged our day safari too. The villa was super clean, tidy, spacious and had a lovely balcony. Our safari guid Manjula was very knowledgable and friendly-would recommend!

This stay amidst nature was really enchanting for us. The bungalow exceeded all expectations (charming and clean). Much attention to detail, from the pristine room to the lovely balcony, and there was even a TV and good internet. Our bungalow had an outdoor bathroom with an open shower under the open sky, which was really special and magical in the evening! But what truly sets this place apart is the warmth of the owners, particularly Mila and his brother, who, along with their entire family, do everything to make their guests feel at home. They also gave us assistance in planning the next part of our journey and local tips. The half-board dining option was a culinary delight. The dinner was a highlight, maybe the best we've had in Sri Lanka. Another major highlight was the recommended safari experience with a knowledgeable and friendly driver/guide. The wildlife was beautiful and the day was punctuated with a private lunch by the river, offering a breathtaking view of crocodiles. We would love to return to Wild Lake Side. Highly recommended!

We loved the quiet location and surrounding countryside. The accommodation was lovely and very clean. The staff were wonderful. So kind and friendly. They organised a 7 hour safari with an amazing guide. They provided a picnic which we enjoyed in the safari park away from anyone. We would highly recommend Lakeside.

Everything was great!

The bungalows of Wild Lake Side are located in a beautiful jungle area close to the National Park. There’s only three of them so there’s a high level of privacy and tranquility. On the balcony you can observe several animals like monkeys and birds. Everything is super clean and cozy, the air conditioning inside of the room lets you escape into some cool room in case the weather gets too hot. The food is absolutely delicious. But what struck out most was the hospitality of the owner and staff! They were all very friendly, attentive and even surprised us with a small birthday cake. We could book the tour to the national park directly with them which made it very comfortable. Also the tour itself was a delight!

This was the most amazing sleepover in Sri Lanka! Milan and his brothers were super nice and picked us up from the bus stop and brought us to Ella for a very good price! The bungalow had an outdoor shower with amazing view!! Everything is super clean and well organised! The terrace was also amazing! We saw so many birds, parrots, monkeys, turtle and a huge lizard from our balcony! It was amazing! We loved this place and people here! Definitely worth staying here! The Safari tour that they organised was also perfect: we did 7 Hours and saw everything in the park (but no guarantee for everyone cause it depends how much luck you have!) but the guide was taking lots of time to stay at one place till you see peacocks dance or till a baby elephant comes! If you book here the money will be well spent!

Wild lake side is more a Calm creek side, but still an excellent place to stay for Udawalawe. The new wooden cabins are well maintained, very clean, equipped with everything we needed and situated within a lush green environment we really enjoyed. . They also arranged the safari for us and we recommend taking the 6h safari as it will bring you farther away from the crowds. After a very disappointing safari at Yala Block 1 this safari in Udawalawe was excellent with lots of animal sightings and few other jeeps around most of the time. . Wild lake side was among the best accommodations we had in our one month travelling Sri Lanka.

We had the best stay at Wild Lake Side - Milan was the best host who made sure we were looked after. The food was really tasty, rooms were spotless, and whole experience was seamless. Milan helped to organise an excellent safari experience, and onward transport. I highly recommend this guest house :)

This was one of our favourite places we stayed on our entire trip! The cabins are extremely comfortable and have beautiful views of the river, we loved spending our evenings sat on our balcony watching the birds and monkeys. The host is extremely helpful, make sure you book a safari through him! Food was also fantastic.

The cabins were exquisite, comfortable, and exceptionally clean. The owner works very hard to make the stay a great one, and it is indeed just that. The dinner was very good and the breakfast was delicious. I highly recommend this place.
