Really nice little hotel with your own little cabin. Room is clean and tidy, bed is confortable. Incredible wildlife all around with monkeys and squirrels jumping on the roof. The family that own the hotel is really nice and always happy to help you. The food was the best we had around Sri Lanka. You should really try the dinner ! We can only recommand.

Absolutely everything was amazing! Clean and big room, the owner was very nice, showed our his beautiful garden. He arranged a safari for us at a very favorable price, he gave us biscuits, water and a banana for the safari journey. The dinner and breakfast was really big and good. After our stay he took us to Ella and bought us a coconut.

Best hotel so far in Sri Lanka. The manager was very kind and caring. We got a wet towel and welcome drink and a lot of water. The room even has a fridge to cool the water. They organized a safari tour with a good price/ value. We had a 12/10 stay, whished we could have stayed longer. Also great breakfast with various options and traditional food.

I would definitely recommend staying here for the safari! The rooms are big and extremely clean. The hosts are so nice, they did everything to help you and make you feel at home. The breakfast and dinner was the nicest food we have had in sri lanka so far! The portion size is huge, you will not be hungry. It is a bit far from the main town of udawalawe but you don’t need to go there because you have your main meals here and the safari is even closer. There are shops about 5 minutes walk away. All their spices are home grown so the food is super fresh and delicious! The surroundings of the home stay is absolutely stunning, you can hear the river running, nature around and it is so peaceful! The safari guide who is good friends with the hosts was the best in udawalawe. They worked together to provide breakfast straight after our early safari. This is the best value for money we have ever experienced! It has everything you need here, i would recommend it to absolutely everyone!

The big room misses AC, the road is not in a good condition, quite tough for the drivers to reach it.

Great place to stay for safari, good home cooked dinner and breakfast provided, owner was very nice and friendly. Definitely in nature so expect mosquitos animal noises etc but they have a mosquito net so it is not a problem. Would recommend :)

The accommodation is absolutely beautiful and the surrounding is so peaceful. Everything was perfectly clean. Very close to the safari if you intend to do it. We also had dinner and breakfast at the property and it was delicious! The owners were incredibly helpful with everything we needed and they also helped us with the transfer to Ella. I would definitely come back to this place😊

The bathroom could be in a better state.

The owner is really nice. He cooks really tasty meals and tries his best. The location is wild so for those who don't like insects, weird animal noise and jungle generally, it might not be favourite place. However, it's really authentic.

Wild River Side is a beautiful property. Lovely grounds, and the room was gorgeous. The owner is a very nice guy and was very helpful. Great breakfast too. If you want to visit Udawalawe it’s a great place to stay

really only downside is location it’s a bit far from main road but at the same location is very good in between quite and nice kinda jungle where you can see and hear monkeys.

Really nice little Hotel/Lodge with two bungalows (with a double room each). The place is surrounded by dense forest, monkeys play in the trees and everything is lush and green. The bungalow was really clean and equipped with a fan and an aircon. The bed was comfortable and the sheets were really clean. Everything worked! All the lights and switches etc. which is really rare in Sri Lanka! The wifi was so good, that I watched a littlebit Netflix before going to sleep. Overall

There was no A/C in our room, which was a bit of a problem during the night!

The room was good and clean, and generally had all you need. The guy who was in charge, was one of the nicest guys we met so far in Sri Lanka! He took great care of us! If you are thinking about a safari, you can book it right at the accommodation for a really good price! Even the Breakfast & the dinner was really good and the area is really quiet! So if you‘re thinking of traveling to Udawawale National Park, this is definitely the place to be! Had the best time there!

Very little!! The only thing I could possibly point to is that dinner at the hotel is, objectively, perhaps a little on the expensive side (1200 rupees/person) for what you might pay elsewhere. But the food was good, so hardly a negative really. And when you consider the price of the room, it's easy to see past it.

Brilliant little place a short walk off the main Street (take a torch if you go out at night - it'll be dark on the way back and isn't lit!) The room was great - very spacious and good air conditioning unit. The host is very friendly and extremely helpful - we went out in the evening and called him to arrange dinner, because he could not quite understand what we were saying he thought we were in difficulty and came to find us - really going above and beyond. We also organised a safari through the host on the strength of recommendations from others on this website. The Safari was great. The price was within the range of what we had previously been told was reasonable and the driver was friendly and knowledgeable. Overall an excellent stay. Would highly recommend for a few nights.

Really great location in the jungle and close to the National park and elephant orphanage. The Host is amazing, so friendly and informative - couldn’t do enough for you. He arranged safari for us with his brother who was great. We had fantastic home cooked breakfast and evening dinner - the host family were lovely, they should offer cooking classes as the food was delicious!! The host showed us how to make ginger and orange tea using his home grown ingredients, he also dried some curry leaves for us :) The room was lovely and big and clean.
