Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesOur room was great with plenty of room, AC, fresh water, and a comfortable bed. The attached bath was fine, but we had to leave the window in the bathroom open to keep it vented. It was not a big deal and we had no problems at all. Overall, the room was great.
The food was amazing! We had dinners there for 3 nights and we were never disappointed. The service was excellent, the people as kind as you could possibly be, and the food was exceptional Sri Lankan meals. We did 2 full day safaris at Wilpattu and the lodge packed a big breakfast for us and a Sri Lankan lunch for us both days. Wilpattu ended up being our favorite national park to visit out of the 4 we went to, and the location of Wilpattu Wildhideaway was perfect.

ItalyNothing we can think of, the property is also very close to the bus stop that bring you to Anuradhapura!
The location was very convenient: near the park entrance and next to a wonderful lake. The safari experience started right on the shore of the lake, where we were able to see all kinds of birds during sunset. The dinners and breakfasts were delicious. The staff was kind and very helpful, we loved chatting with the owner. We also booked a safari through the property, and we were assigned a fantastic guide that went far and beyond to give us a very interesting and formative experience. Everything was done in full respect of the animals. We 100% recommend spending your time here!

IndiaAnta, the owner did everything humanly possible to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. His communication before our visit was excellent, advising us re. travel to/from Willpattu, etc. When you meet both Anta and his team at Wildhideaway the helpfulness and grace continue throughout your visit. The rooms are fairly basic but as described in the entry here: there's enough space, everything is clean, etc. We liked the outside patio to sit and relax on, and the books on wildlife, etc. But, like everyone, we were there for the National Park. Anta set up both afternoon and full day safaris for us, with a guide called Harsha. With his assistance we saw some amazing wildlife, ranging from leopards, crocodiles and elephants to monitor lizards and mongoose. There is also an amazing array of birdlife there. Finally, the whole physical environment of the Park is just stunning, with some lovely waterscapes. Our full day safari was supported by a good box breakfast and a lovely lunch from Anta's kitchen. Being given good binoculars from the hotel was also a great touch. Dinner at the hotel was great on both nights, fairly simple Sri Lankan fare - tasty and beautifully presented, accompanied by cold beers. I cannot recommend this place enough for anyone heading to Wilpattu for 2-3 nights: you'll be well looked after in all regards.

NetherlandsThe warm shower didn't have any pressure and only gave a few drops. I lost my earring and below the bed didn't look really clean. Fortunately, everything else did look clean. The taxi to Sigiriya was relatively expensive (+€10/€15) compared to other taxi's we took. However the bus trip included 3 different buses.
Very friendly staff and excellent diner (3 courses). Location close to the park and binoculars are offered for the safari. We enjoyed our safari. It is a beautiful park and we saw many birds, deer, one elephant and one leopard for 10 seconds in the bush. Based on the good reviews we had hoped to see a bit more of a leopard, but we were happy because the day before no elephants or leopards had been seen. So you need to be a bit lucky.

United KingdomThe shower pressure was almost not existent and the room smelt quite damp/ mouldy. There will be compromises staying this close to a national park so I would still recommend this place.
All the staff were very friendly and helpful. We also had a great safari driver and were lucky enough to see 2 leopards. The food was great and the included breakfast was massive.

Location was peaceful and beautifully situated . The rooms large and beds very comfortable . The staff I can’t praise highly enough. Sandoon( not sure about the spelling) was very helpful, polite and cheerful, nothing was too much trouble. The food was plentiful and very tasty. Anton was very helpful by organising two amazing all day safaris with a great guide Harsha. I was interested in seeing birds as much as wildlife and luckily this was his forte. He has eyes of an eagle ! Spotting many birds and being very patience explaining where they were. I was lucky enough to see two leopards an added bonus. Fast internet for those who are interested.

ItalyWe started our journey in Sri Lanka from Wilpattu National Park and we decided to spend two days in this magnificent place immersed in the nature, no chaos, just the sound of the birds. The rooms are simple, but they have everything you need. The owner Anta is such a nice person and also knows a lot about the area and its wildlife: he took us on a birding tour on the first day and we spotted many beautiful species. We also had a full day safari with Arshe, one of his guide, and its been magic! So I really can say that this place is fully recommended if you like nature, nice food and good people!

United KingdomFrom the initial welcome to the moment of our departure, Anta and his team were nothing but lovely and we could feel their determination to make every part of our stay as good as it could be - they succeeded! In fact, Anta was comunicating with us before we arrived in Sri Lanka to provide details of the safari and to help us organise our arrival. We really appreciated this. We stayed for 2 nights, did a full day safari, and had dinner both nights too. The food was superb with different local dishes served both evenings. The safari was well organised and the vehicle the Wildhideaway owns is great because you are sitting with your guide, not in a separate cab, so can really get the best communication throughout the day. Our guide, Harsha, was amazing, very knowledgeable, and did all he could to show us as much of Wilpattu as possible - and we saw loads!! The room was great with comfortable beds and the area was very quiet. Anta even drove us to the neighbouring town to ensure we got the bus we needed to our next destination. What a guy!! We got the impression that Anta has very high standards and makes sure his guests are well looked after in every way. Our expectations were totally exceeded and so would completely recommend you stay here! Thank you Anta and hope to see you again.

AustraliaHad a great time on the safari organised by Wildhideaway. The park itself is very beautiful and there is a lot of nature and wildlife to enjoy that aren't the elusive big animals however it was very cool to spot a leopard, elephants and some grey lengur monkeys in the park. The room was clean and came with a/c and a hot shower which was nice. There was also a table and chairs out the front with some shade to relax on. The dinner offered consisted of various sri lankan dishes and was all very good quality and delicious. I'd highly recommend staying at Wildhideaway for anyone thinking of doing safari.

AustraliaNothing No fridge in room but not required as we are very well fed....and have gained weight from the delicious multi course meals! No kettle in room, but not required. Tap water is too salty and not healthy to drink anyway. No fly screen in bathroom but not required as plug in insect repeller is very effective.
Passionate wildlife enthusiast/ knowledgeable /photographer host with excellent English. Excellent, thoughtful, helpful communication from time of booking. Friendly, superior service. Clean, comfortable (innerspring mattress), air conditioning, WiFi, included breakfast, unlimited filtered drinking water, hot water (but hot shower not utilised!), Nat Geo channel on satellite TV in dining room. Own safari vehicle: comfortable/less bumpy design, easy communication with skilful driver /guide, excellent visibility for photography. Delicious, plentiful, multi course meals in dining room or packed for safari. Welcome cold drink on our afternoon arrival, hot tea /coffee or cold water at other times served with a smile. Nature reference books to use. Birdwatching in back yard which backs onto a lake and is beside a vegetable garden/farm. Property is 5 minutes drive from Wilpattu National Park. Excellent value. We stayed 5 nights and took 3 x full day (6am-6pm) safaris arranged by the host with different sightings /experiences each day. So lucky to see leopards, elephant, buffalo, crocodiles, deer, jackals, mongoose, wild boar, monitor lizards. Green snake, lots and lots of birds including Malabar Pied Hornbill, painted stork, several Eagles, beeeaters, shorebirds, etc. The property was very relaxing on our rest day. We would love to return again - highly recommend.
