How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content

- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

The location was great, a bit of a walk down the hill to Kandy lake. The staff were really friendly and attentive. Security were present and made you feel safe. Amazing view from our room and balcony to the mountains.

It might be tricky to find property, but if you follow the signs there shouldnt be any problem. It is steep, but worthwhile.
We had the room at the top floor and it was the only one at that floor (number 32) and that was great choice. We had a balcony and view of Kandy and lake. For so small hotel, breakfast buffet was great. We also appreciated fridge, AC and fan in the room. Also bed is comfortable.

No lift. Aged persons will find it difficult to climb stairs. Back side balconies have nothing to see.
Expected a srilankan Breakfast. Disappointed to see English Breakfast. Close to lake. Bit steep to take a stroll....

The manager and front desk gentleman were wonderful. Our driver, Ajantha, was truly amazing! All very friendly, welcoming, and accommodating. The rooms were great, everything was clean. Our view was breathtaking. The location was excellent. Thank you for a memorable holiday.

Thought restaurant was going to also be open in evening, as arrived tired after long train trip. Hotel small but friendly.

It's up a pretty steep hill and a little difficult to find if driving. Pool mostly in the shade. The road below is noisy from the early hours.
Nice view, great staff, good bathroom and very comfy big bed. Walkable to town in around 20 mins.

Didn’t get the room expected as shown in the photo , unfortunately no bar breakfast buffet a little tired food was adequate but not great , scrambled eggs over cooked , need like an old guest from 1970 needs updating

It wasn’t really a lake view… we could only see a little bit of it through the trees. The breakfast was disappointing - no Sri Lankan breakfast options, and on one of the days, there was nothing left at 9am.
Very welcoming staff, they were very helpful, especially in arranging transport when we checked out. The room was clean and comfortable. The location is very good (there is a steep hill up to it - but we got tuktuks back each evening)

For me the breakfast wasn't up to the standard I would have expected for the price. There was no Sri Lankan options which is a shame as I like to eat the cuisine of the countries I travel to.
I enjoyed my stay here whilst visiting Kandy. The location is a perfect walk away from the temple of the tooth and the city and there are views of Kandy lake from the rooms. The bed was super comfortable and the wifi was very good - I mention this because during my stay in Sri Lanka, it was patchy in most places I stayed in. The pool is small but nice for a dip after a hectic day.

It says on the details dinner can be bought at the hotel but they do not offer it. However, a restaurant close by called Hideout was a good option. No lifts so be prepared for stairs. You can’t por. Windows on balcony because of monkeys.

The staff were amazing and very accommodating! We had to leave early the following morning and they let us come to breakfast early. They were always very kind and professional. The view was lovely from our room and the bed was very comfortable - we also had fruit and juice on arrival which was lovely! The pool was also nice.
