Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SwitzerlandEverything was amazing and the kindness of the staff was the cherry on top. The common outdoor area is cared for in every detail. Don't miss the camel ride!

ArgentinaThe camel ride we did for sunrise (80€ for two persons) was nice but really short. In total, it was 75 minutes but considering that we made a stop for sunrise and you need to get there and back, we only went 1km into the dunes which was much shorter than we went by foot the other day. So if you've never sat on a camel before, it's a nice experience. But if you want to see something, go by yourself.
The tents are more traditional than in most of the other camps. There are lots of places to hang out during the day where you can find shade and/or shelter from the sand storms. The tent is really big and the separate bathroom tents have a toilet, lavatory and warm shower which feels like a big luxury in the desert. Staff was really friendly and considerate. They always offered bottled water, tea and coffee free of charge. Breakfast and dinner were delicious with lots of options. Considering that transport to the camp, breakfast and dinner are included, the value received for the price is adequate and not much higher than in other camps where this is charged additionally. Since we stayed two nights, we did a tour to the Berber village (110€ for two people) including visit to a mine, fossiles, construction site, cemetery, music performance, viewpoint and much more. We liked seeing more of the life of the people there and can only recommend the experience. The guide could speak many different languages. We also did a 1.5 hour walk in the dunes on our own for sunset (we started at 6pm). If you have a GPS device in order to not get lost, this is perfect to get farther into the dunes and get the real desert experience since all the camps are located along the edge of the desert.

ItalyI loved the location in the dunes and the cure for details, the tranquility and the authenticity!( and that it was almost completely plastic free ) The staff is just wonderful and attentive and willing to help in everything! Thanks so much to Mohammed, Ali , Hamza and all the others! The food is one of the best that I had in Morocco! The Gnaoua music around the fire and under the stars is magical, I wish they would play more:) We miss you and the desert so much! (There are also beautiful iron sculptures and paintings all over the camp from local artists from Khamlia village!)

United KingdomHighly recommend staying here if you choose to visit Merzouga/Erg Chebbi. From the beginning we had smooth communication with Sara regarding pick up, dietary requirements, etc. The camp is nestled between two large sand dunes so the views and walks around are spectacular. The tent is authentic to local traditions and blends much better with the landscape. Camp staff go above and beyond to make your stay comfortable. We were treated to delicious food prepared by the chef that included a variety of local dishes. This stay will be a cherished memory for us.

United KingdomWe stayed 4 nights, almost everyone else was passing through for one night but if you have the time this is a great place to take in the sunshine and relax. The stars and moon make each evening different and the guys who work there come and drum round the fire and it feels festive and nicely ‘low-key’. We are veggie and somehow the cook managed to make different food at each meal for us, so tasty, healthy and clean. Like elsewhere in Morocco the locals love animals and the camels were well cared for and we enjoyed the camel rides (in other countries I’ve been reluctant to ride camels but here it was so well managed). The guys who run the camp are really friendly and checked if we wanted anything else without pressure to buy more. We don’t drive and so Sara organised private transfers for us with good drivers and we took a very local morning excursion to the immediate environment which is interesting to see how people are really living in the desert. If you want to save money there is a CTM bus to Merzouga and you can get picked up from there.

Wow! This was our first experience at Erg Chebbi and we were very sad to leave. We would recommend this place for the care taken in crafting such a beautiful Berber camp and for the level of incredible service as well. The camp is surrounded by beautiful trees in a little oasis right up against the dunes. There are personal bathroom cabins and personal tents with real camel hair canvas exterior. The bed was also extremely comfortable! There are open air buildings available as well for activities or lounging. Everything is beautifully decorated. The food was top notch and we had a variety of tasty Berber and Moroccan dishes. We went for camel rides at sunset and sunrise. It was very nice to see that the camels are treated well. Overall, the people working at the camp did an amazing job! They do all tasks from cleaning to drumming and with positivity. We had a really great experience here! It was well worth it to stay a few nights and relax in the oasis.

CanadaWow, what a super experience!! We spent one magical night here. The tents are spacious, clean and very comfortable, located in a great camp setting. We thoroughly enjoyed our sunset and sunrise camel rides, and the evening campfire music. The food was fantastic — our best dinner and breakfast in Morocco! Muhammad was an excellent host. Sara was very responsive by text prior to our visit. We are so pleased that we followed the recommendation from Lonely Planet for this place. We highly recommend this desert experience with Sara & Ali.

CanadaI absolutely loved staying here. One night is not enough, and I am SO glad I had booked two nights right away. First and foremost, Mohamed is an absolute gem. He is SO polite, SO kind, and so attentive, he honestly made our experience the best ever. The tent was so comfortable, the bed was heavenly, the bathroom was immaculately clean, and had hot water and a flushing toilet. The food was delightful, and different every day which I really enjoyed. Having breakfast by the beautiful dunes in the morning before it gets really hot is quite the experience. I LOVED the shakshouka eggs, and both dinners were delicious, too. There's constantly iced water and tea available, Mohamed always made sure to offer to refill our water bottles and offered us delicious mint tea several times. In terms of activities, I had booked camels at sunrise, and LOVED the experience, we were the only 2 people in the desert and it was so special. As a nice added surprise, Sara also offered us a second camel ride at sunset that same day, free of charge. The sunset ride was a little busier, there were more camel tours from other camps, dune buggies, 4x4 cars out and about, but the colors of the sunset in the dunes was spectacular. I met British guys who had done the dune buggies and said they really enjoyed it as well, but we took it easy and enjoyed the camp during the day instead, which was lovely. It does get hot but there are a few spots to sit in the shade and still enjoy. Definitely book 2 nights, definitely book a camel ride, and definitely book this camp above any other, it truly is a unique experience I will never forget. Thank you SO much!

United KingdomWe have just returned from an absolutely fantastic trip to Desert Palace. Everything about this camp is perfect - Mohammed, Hamed and Mustafa are a dream team. Nothing was ever any trouble. The tents are very comfortable and the king size bed huge. The shower and toilet are separate so you have to go outside of your tent to your own toilet and shower. Mustafa took us on our evening sunset and morning sunrise camel rides. It was just the two of us and Mustafa on foot. On the evening ride we witnessed a Saharan Sand Storm heading our way. We made it back to camp just in time. On the second evening we walked up onto the dunes and had our own sundowner sunset, absolutely fantastic ❤️ The food was superb. Well done guys you make such a good team. You can buy beer and wine. Coffee, Tea and water are provided free. If you want an fizzy drinks these are not available. The camp is tastefully decorated and not too big. We can highly recommend this camp for the best desert experience. The only negative is communication with Sara before your trip. Information about the rendezvous point needs to be communicated well in advance. We found it extremely stressful having driven for 8 hours, arriving in Merzouga not knowing where we were being picked up. I had messaged Sara the night before and I never heard back from her. We then sent a WhatsApp message to Sara at lunchtime on the day of our arrival with all the information ie where to meet plus prices for the camel rides etc.

What a place! Ali & Sara’s desert palace is the place to stay when visiting this area. Sara was so good at communicating and provided so many tips and hints for our travels in the whole of Morocco. They also organised our driver, Mubarak, who was the most knowledgeable and friendly driver we could have asked for! Could not recommend him enough.
