Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe location is perfect! Less than a ten minute walk from the ferry terminal coming from Tarifa, clearly visible as soon as you step off the ship. The hotel is directly on the outer walls of the Medina of Tangiers. Ask the receptionist to arrange a walking tour (Saïd was great and speaks perfect English). It will take you to places you would never go on your own for fear of getting lost. In two hours we saw so much that we're still processing it.

South AfricaThe staff were shocking. They were unfriendly and lazy. One staff member actually hid around the corner when he saw us coming carrying our suitcases (and my spouse is over 60). The linen was very tired. Every dinner plate was chipped. Every. Single. One. It wouldn't take much to bring back the charm and ambience of a 5 star hotel. It has everything going for it except the staff, linen and cutlery and crockery.
The location. The architecture and charm of the hotel. Breakfast was lovely. Restaurant food was nice.

MoroccoThe bathroom ventilation system appeared inadequate, with a small, unconventional opening leading to the common areas. While likely functional, it presented a privacy concern, especially considering the lack of such a feature in other rooms. (room 102) While the breakfast offered a good selection, refilling of the buffet ceased around 10:00 AM, despite breakfast service continuing until 10:30 AM. This inconsistency could be inconvenient for guests arriving later in the breakfast window.
The staff is nice and helpful. The museum-hotel boasts a unique aesthetic and provides a welcome departure from the ordinary. The rooms are clean but slightly outdated. The breakfast offers a pleasant selection with a particularly noteworthy view.

AustraliaRoom decor was very tired and in need of facelift. The shower drains were very slow to clear, and the water spilled all over the bathroom floor.
Location is perfect for exploring the waterfront and very close to the ferry terminal for Spain. The hotel building interior is beautiful and its worth having a look around the hotel. There are lovely little salons everywhere to have a rest and the view is wonderful from the balcony. There was a good selection of foods at breakfast such as eggs, toast and bakery goods.

United KingdomStaff could try and not hang around waiting for a tip, making the situation unconfortable, especially after they made you walk up and the hall for 20 minutes as a ready room could not be found. Outside of our room the was a pile of furniture, so not a great look. Overall it's a dated hotel, possibly in need of a boost of younger management.
Gave info about the parking and printed the boarding pass. The view from the terrace was great, the room large and the beds confortble

United StatesThe building is a museum...The facilities are quite dated. Sound is an issue between rooms and mechanical systems in some areas of the building. There is no elevator for those that have trouble with stairs.
This hotel is perfectly placed for those arriving via Ferry, and just at the edge of the Kasbah/Medina. The staff was the highlight. Always friendly and helpful. They also helped us with arranging a short tour of Tangier for a really good price. The breakfast was included in our stay and was really good. Beds were comfortable and we all slept good. I think this hotel is hard to beat if you are traveling on a budget and want to spend most of your time exploring the Kasbah. The building is a museum and a landmark.

United StatesThe facility is old, the window of my bathroom is broken and there is no curtain. The hotel locates in upland and you need to climb the stairs, not friendly to those who have luggage suitcases. And there's no elevator in the hotel, either. The stairs in are high. In the back is the the residential area and a mosque. Sometimes People are singing and praying late at night and very early in the morning, which is noisy.
It's an old building and traditional Mediterreane decoration, good for those who love old fashion. Room space is fine. The location is quite good, close to the pier and easy to take ferry, also close to the old town and the restaurants and shops. The view from the balcony and breakfast restaurant is extremely nice, a wonderful place for local girls and ladies to have dinner.

CanadaThe hotel is situated high up on a cliff ledge which requires six flights of stairs or a steep switchback lane to reach. There is cab access however they are reluctant to take it because it is extremely narrow and damage to the cabs is a very real concern. Once you get there however, the views, the friendliness of the staff and the spectacular surroundings make the climb worthwhile.
The staff was friendly and helpful. They arranged for a personal guided car tour that was exceptional. We saw parts of Tangier that we would never have seen otherwise. The guide took us to his favorite restaurant for lunch which was utterly delicious and very reasonable. The hotel is right at the Medina which we explored at length. The tile work inside the hotel, particularly in the cafe area was astounding.
