Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomLoved our stay here, incredible comfortable with a home stay feel with a lovely family. They sorted out an overnight for us in Azilane and even made us a free lunch to take for the hike! We didn't hesitate in booking an extra night for when we got back. Another highlight was breakfast on the terrace looking over beautiful mountain and medina views - highly recommend!

AustraliaQuite noisy in medina as no soundproofing. Just something to be mindful of.
Great location within the medina and a classic Dar. Wonderful food cooked by the friendly staff. They arranged guide Ali to give me a day tour and hike to Spanish Mosque, I would highly recommend him. My heater wasn't working well in the Blue Room, but staff promptly moved me to a room that air con was working.

United KingdomThe bathrooms are really small (found it a bit difficult to move around) but I guess this is standard for properties in Chefchaouen. Also, unfortunately, electricity went out in the morning during our stay (apparently electricity was down in all of Chefchaouen without any prior notice), although this is not the fault of the property (Ahmed's wife still managed to serve us nice breakfast without electricity). Nevertheless, this will not stop us from staying in this property again.
Ahmed and his wife are very nice hosts. You are treated with lovely Moroccan tea on arrival. We contacted Ahmed on our way to Chefchaouen and he sent his son to help us with the car park (paid 20MAD for one-night for the parking). Prepare to walk uphill with few stairs, which was fine for us but some might struggle. The Dar is located right on top of the one of the most photographed place in Chefchaouen (Callejon El Asri), with plenty of shops all within walking distance. Nice views from the rooftop terrace.

United StatesThe stairs leading up to the dar. Two other guests hired someone to carry their luggage up. I only had a backpack, but it was heavy. I was unable to do the stairs with it on my back (no handrails and stairs are uneven) and it was awkward and a bit time consuming to lug it up step by step. Luckily, you only arrive with luggage once! Just be prepared. Many dars in Chefchaouen have similar issues. There were stairs all over the medina, but no problem if you are not carrying luggage (and no knee problems).
The location in general was good, but the stairs to reach it were a surprise (and challenge). Great views from the terrace and rooftop. There was plenty of hot water and decent wifi. The decor is nice and It was very clean. It got cold at night, but the heat system was good. Everything was walkable from the dar though half the medina is climbing uneven stairs up and down. Amina was a sweetheart. Her breakfasts were good with some variations each day (she makes her own bread!).

United StatesThe proprietor and proprietress were incredibly gracious and kind. We were served a much-too-big breakfast every day and the hosts’ two children were charming and delightful. The WiFi was good and the room was cozy and comfortable. The riad is located up a scenic flight of blue steps in Chefchaouen not far from the Kasbah.

CanadaFor some people the property was higher up so lots of steps. Also, the room was small so 2 bigger people may find it awkward to share.

United StatesRooms a little small but that is typical for Chefchaouen.
Ahmed and Amina were wonderful hosts. Felt just like family. Decor is colorful, quaint Moroccan, impeccably clean. Amina made great breakfasts every morning and even washed and folded some of our clothes for a very reasonable fee. Ahmed helped us get acclimated to Chefchaouen the first night by taking us down to the main square and he found a great driver to take us to Casablanca airport. Highly recommend!

FranceIn my bathroom I had pipe smell problems.
I liked my stay at Dar Aldea. I stayed 3 nights. The location is perfect and very safe. In heart of the medina and close to all the more famous monuments and places to visite. But carfull you have to climb some staires (around 50 maybe) before you get there. So ask for help to the owners. They were very helpfull and very welcoming. And I thank them again for the soup, tea...and all the little attention towards me. The room I had was ok for 1 personn. The bedroom tiny but a very good bed. And a beautifull bathroom and bath! The decoration is very authentique and the house very nice. Also I like the breakfast. Very typical from Morocco.

United StatesParking, street is bit away and parking is very challenging. However, the city itself is a true tourist trap! Do your homework!
Owners are truly welcoming and caring! They made our stay special! The lady of the house makes the best orange juice there is! Rooms are very small but beds are very comfortable! The roof terrace provides more then enough space to relax. The owners arranged for a great and much needed massage, hammam, and made sure we felt comfortable during our stay. If you visit the city, this is the place to stay, just mind the parking situation.

United KingdomApart from the terrace, the main space downstairs is not really a place to hangout. The terrace was too hot in August and as the bedrooms are very small, that means there is nowhere really to hang out. I thought the kitchen was for our use but it did not feel like that. I did not like the Twins restaurant Ahmed sent us to on our first night as it had only tourists in it and a menu stretching from tacos to burgers via tagines (the one his wife had recommended, which we went to after, was brilliant), and I felt a bit too pushed towards his preferred carpet shop on the main square.
A gorgeously decorated Riad in the heart of Chefchaouen. Pretty doors, pretty bedrooms, lovely terrace. Ahmed was nice but his wife was even nicer. Her recommendations proved more trustworthy and she was endlessly helpful (laundry, early breakfast, staggered breakfasts). The terrace has a great view overlooking Chefchaouen. The place only has a handful of bedrooms so it feels like a boutique hotel. The breakfast was lovely.
