Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

FinlandOnly minuses were that my room was quite cold at this time of year and the water in the bathroom would fluctuate from boiling to freezing, so shower time was a bit of an adventure.
The hotel was very clean and inviting. The host was very kind and picked me up from the airport free of charge. He also offered to drive me to the Hercules caves. All in all a great place to stay right in the middle of the Medina with great staff for a reasonable price.

EgyptIt was very difficult to find. Perhaps a more detailed map of exactly how to get there would help.
The young lady was truly a godsend. Nothing was too much trouble from getting me water and sending me the location of the taxis . The heater and kettle in the room was a great bonus.

United StatesA minor and understandable issue...since the home is old, you have to watch for steps and somewhat smaller/narrower spaces. The ambiance and awesome location more than made up for this.
Wonderful location in the heart of Tangier's Medina - old city attractions and Tanguer Ville ferry port within reasonable walking distance. Beautiful old home...felt like we stepped into a different era. Both, the host Salah and his daughter Inas were wonderful hosts, and were eager to help us enjoy the city. Lots of books available, nice rooftop terrace. Located in a quiet side street.

NetherlandsThe owner only opens door for the guest, so there is no one sitting in front of the reception. I was late due to a train delay and Inas was so nice and waited for me. However, I didn't know the situation and there was no information on the booking site. I would advise the owner to put the explanation on the booking sites instead of sending private messages to let the guest know the arrival time is important.
The location is super convenient. You may find it difficult in the first few times but you will soon find your way. The room is small but clean and decent. When comes to the price value, this place is super. Compared to many other places in Morocco, this one doesn't not organized tours but instead they provide many useful tips to travel around the city which I found it very useful!

FranceThe staff is very helpful (practical information...), reachable any time if needed and friendly. The Riad location is optimal for someone who likes walking: inside the medina, near the beach, near the uptown. Trainstation is around 30min by walk.

United Kingdom- the staff weren't really around much which made it less personable - they didn't serve any breakfast - the shower/toilet was very small up on the roof - my window didn't shut properly and so cold air got in and I could hear the noise of the street However, for the price I paid I can't really complain!
- the room was clean and comfortable - the girl, Inés, was really nice who did my check in and she spoke really gold English and French - there were extra blankets in case I got cold and tea in the room in case I got thirsty - location was great

United KingdomVery small points: none of the bedrooms would have any sort of a view (and at least one doesn't have a window) but this is typical of Medina riads. I also had to walk up steps to go to the bathroom, located on the lovely rooftop terrace. But perhaps most importantly, the riad is right in the heart of Tangier Medina, which is almost impossible to navigate without a good map, e.g. google maps. And of course taxis can't take you there because the medina is mainly pedestrianised. So you need to think about this beforehand before booking. If walking through the Medina would be your first experience of Morocco, e.g. you would have come off the boat from Spain, you are in for quite a culture shock!
A very good experience. The riad seems to be run by a father and daughter, both of whom are very nice, helpful and approachable. My room was on the small side but not too small, and the bed was very comfortable.

United KingdomIt is a bit difficult to find the property. I asked so many people on the street how to get there.
It is located in the very centre of the old town. Lots of tourists attractions are in a walking distance. I liked the cozy rooftop area and the view from it is amazing. The room as well as the toilet is quite spacious and neat. The staff is exceptionally kind and speaks perfect English as opposed to most Moroccan people. Considering these strong points, it is extremely cheap.

MoroccoThere is not much ventilation. I think it can relate to all hotels in Medina, cause the buildings are built in that way.
It is very calm and comforting to stay at Dar Essaki. The location is very good. It is so comfortable to explore Medina from there. Host is welcoming and it is very easy to communicate with them.

New ZealandI didn’t mark the property dues for this as I’m aware that my negative pertains only to me and other people who suffer from allergies. Our room on the lower floor with private bathroom had no ventilation and as such had a musty odour and was humid if the door was shut. After 2 nights the musty odour coupled with the incense burning in the lobby had triggered my allergic rhinitis and my sinuses were inflamed and I was incredibly uncomfortable. We had a perk into the rooms on the second floor one of which had an opening window and no smell. if you have allergies my suggestion would be to request the upper rooms to avoid the experience I had.
Great service including guide Muhammad who met us at the taxi and led us through the medina to the hostel and the receptionist who printed out our tickets for us! The roof top terrace is awesome, the decor beautiful and the location is perfect. Everything is scrupulously clean!

United StatesWe had a room that slept three. No AC and no real shower . There is a drain in the floor and you need to hold the shower head . very odd set up. However the other room that slept two did have a regular shower. From the main street you have to walk a half of a mile uphill on cobble stone . Don’t bring luggage with wheels with you if you are staying here .
It’s location, however we only found the short cut on our last day . We were spending money on taxis every day without a need due to no one telling us how to get to the Medina . The double decker bus picks us up close to this Riad. No orientation was provided and no one is there to ask questions to during the day.
