How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The super cozy apartment is located in a gated community, everything you need is in walking distance. It's quite exciting to watch the happenings on the football field from the balcony: seagulls gather at night, and training/games happen during the day. We enjoyed staying in Simone's apartment and will definitely come back. It's just a perfect stay in Essaouira.

Bright, airy, spacious apartment with fresh look, boasting a modern, spotless interior and fully equipped kitchen boasting quality appliances, cookware and utensils. Convenient setting in the middle of a large but quiet residence. Well-located for access to the beach, medina, great restaurants and cafes, all within walking distance. Also Aswak Assalam and Carrefour supermarkets a little further away. Lovely housekeeper and gardien and friendly, responsive owners. I very much enjoyed my stay in this comfy apartment.

Bed. Too hard or may be something wrong with the mattress.

... cockroaches in the first bathroom and not small ones. We had to sweep as soon as we got the place because we were with a baby and the floor was dusty.. We thought it was too bad the essentials for cooking are not there, such as salt, pepper, oil. We had to buy toilet paper also as we only had half of a roll in each room.
The place is in a very good location. Very well equipped, very comfortable. The hosts are making sure everything is ok at all times. We would definitely recommend that place. Overall, it is a clean place except for...

Very nice apartment in an apartment block, enjoying daytime football matches and training from the balcony. One minor issue the owner tried to resolve very prompty, and communication was good. We very much enjoyed our stay there.

The apartment was really good, but to be perfect it could have more toilet paper (not half roll in each bathroom) and some basic things in the kitchen such as sugar, salt, oil, tea and coffee. If you want to cook you need to buy everything. As well it was not possible to take a shower in the small bathroom without having all the water outside.
Well located, good communication, with all necessary equipment.

It would have been nice to have some tea or coffee in the appartment on arrival... A small detail...
Great location only 1 min from the beach, modern and spacious appartment, all the mod cons, quiet, clean, comfortable, 24hr security at the appartment entrance... Recommended

No curtains for privacy and in the en-suite bathroom there is a window but no blinds or tints on window for privacy reasons as can be seen when sitting directly on toilet from above appartment. The bed was a bit hard not as soft as we’d like it to be. The pots and pans could do with new ones as my Mrs is quite a fussy cook when using other peoples equipment.
The appartment is big and has 2 bathrooms and is spacious.

There was absolutely nothing to dislike
The apartment was spotlessly clean and so very well equipped. Khadija who prepared the apartment to such a high standard was also so very helpful. She brought in a technician twice to see to TV. She answered contact immediately. The apartment itself was so comfortable and having two bathrooms was an unexpected bonus. We did not do much self catering but it would have been easy to do full meals as the kitchen was so very well equipped. The apartment is in a residential complex and I believe mainly occupied by local people who were warm and friendly. The location is great. We wished we could have stayed longer. The owner was in touch with us several times to confirm that everything was OK. We would not hesitate to return.
